Official Big Sky/ Moonlight thread

haha yeah i love that they kept the zaugg.

but yeah i guess some of it comes down to me just knowing more of the good spots at big sky than moonlight.

Yeah not gonna lie, Big Sky definitely does have sick non park terrain! But so does Bridger. & its so much closer. I can get out of class at 12 and ski the rest of the day. Yeah it may not be as good at Big Sky especially when it hasn't snowed in 2 wks, but its nice to be able to drive 15 min to ski.. its worth it to me. And then i choose ML for park and crazy fun tree skiing adventures : )

Its also why they're going out of business or almost did.. I just like big sky for the vast amount of varied terrain... and there park suits me for what I need

Moonlight didn't almost go out of business because their tickets are cheaper, they almost went out of business because their primary lender, Lehman Brothers, filed bankruptcy. Pass sales are small part of revenue for a resort and development like Moonlight. For the price of one empty lot at Moonlight you could buy around 200 season passes.
No matter how shitty Moonlight's financial situation is the last thing they would ever do is stop operating the ski area. If they were to stop operating the value of everything on and around Moonlight would plummet.

If anyone stepped outside and/or checked the weather forecast they'd know that 30mph winds are bringing snow from the south.

does anybody know if the big sky shuttle from MSU is free for students? I remember hearing it was, but after taking a look on their site it looked like you've gotta buy a pass this season

This year is cost $40 bucks for 23 times. I think we buy them in the mall but I have no idea where I am going to buy mine today so I will tell ya.

But that dfd box sounds sooo sick and fun.

But I am more stoked for the massive amount of snow that has been falling on Big Sky for the past week or so.

this season you have to buy a pass. theres a list of locations somewhere on the website. its 40 bucks for 23 round trips (so 23 days basically). so its really only like 1.75 a day. pretty reasonable.

The shuttle pass is definitely more reasonable than using a 1/3 of a tank of gas for a round trip to big sky. Plus since they are charging money i bet less people will ride it so seats will be easier to get, which is always a plus.

I got a bus pass today at chalet, i think they have them at the roundhouse and the mall too. Make sure you get a pass before you try to ride the bus tho, because if you go to the bus with no pass its $5 for a round trip ticket.

yeah it's really not too bad, but i definitely think a lot of people are just gonna take there cars now.. if you fill up a car with four people it won't cost much for gas money, plus you can get blazed the whole drive and it takes a lot less time to get there.

last year i took the bus nearly every time i went, but this year i'll definitely just carpool for the most part.

holy crap, its so close. in 6 years, ive never seen this much snow for opening. just huge storm after huge storm. shit is gonna be wild.

Cannot wait...I bought my bus pass and I am so stoked to go skiing in 2 days!

Anyone know which lifts are going to be open? Hoping that lone peak triple and Challenger will be open for some epic pow skiing.

My buddy is a lifty up there and he said that they are opening with the most terrain they have ever had for an opening day. He also said there's a chance the tram will be open, but not the south side so you'll have to take the gullies to krons. That's just what he said, could be total rumors, I have no idea if it's true or not. I would think that challenger and triple will be running though.

so what all opened up? And did they set up anything park related? I won't be able to get up there until sunday and i'm guessing that all the good stuff will be skied out by then unless this snow keeps up

Okay I am going to try to remember everything.

Top...option of step ass down box or down rail.

Middle...choice of a flat down box or a pole jam

bottom...choice of a dfd box or a straight rail.

even more bottom...choice between 2 wall rides.

Also they is this thing to the far right that is just a giant down dance pad box and than another giant flat dance pad box.

All things are on their respective sides...left = first right = second.

Hope it made sense.
