OFFICAL NHL PLAYOFF THREAD

Ok... now it's personal...

I've put up with you talking shit on crosby. And we booed Jagr out of this city a long time ago. But now you're bringing Mario Lemieux into it? Please sit down. Mario Lemieux has battled through more shit on and off the ice than any other player in history. He has done so much for the game of hockey and the City of Pittsburgh.

It really is a shame that

Le Magnifique's hockey career was cut so short. He battled through Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cancer) as well as multiple back surgeries to correct congenital herniated muscles near his spine. The one back surgery nearly crippled him, and the radiation treatments for Hodgkins disease basically drained him of every ounce of energy. Not to mention when Adam Graves completely shattered his hand and wrist. What other player is as accomplished as him and has had to deal with that? He has made multiple comebacks.

And on top of that... He basically saved the entire Pittsburgh Penguins organization from bankruptcy and prevented the team from disbanding or moving. In the 1990's series of bad investments prevented the Penguins from being able to pay off Mario's contract. Instead of being a completely douche and filing a lawsuit and court ordered reparations, Lemieux used shares in the team as payment, and became the primary shareholder and owner of the organization. Completely saving the team. The man is a god here in this city. He was the first OWNER of a professional sports team to actually play for his own team. Think about what would happen if your team was on the verge of leaving? It really is a shame that nobody could stand up and prevent Winnipeg or Quebec from leaving Canada.

I have personally met the man, and he is one of the nicest most sincere people I have ever met. There is no other hockey player that I have a higher respect for. It's also stunning to look at his numbers verus the number of games he actually played. If he didn't get Hodgkin's Disease in 1993 he would've been well on pace to break Gretzky's single season points per game record. He still remains just below him on that list today.

yeah, but still, grier hasn't been on his game. of course i like him because he's black, but as a hockey player, he still has not played his game like he normally does.

all aboard the cheechoo train and michalek is killin it now. i fucking hate mike modano, his name sounds like madonna so you know he's a pansy bitch.

hahaha

Jagr is such a fucking poontang. when one of crosbys boys gets hit, crosby aint scared to kick his ass. but jagr will back down from every fight, or wait until the refs are breaking it up to join in.

jagr was awesome back in his day give him some respect hes a legend, and quit calling it the pens, its the penguins. Pens sounds really gay.

grier is a checking forward... hes not exactly someone we need to step it up to score all the time. Hes good for maybe 15 goals a year max... i dont expect much from him..

marleau, cheech, and michalek are our three best scorers.. we need them to come out in force..

klazo is a fucking larry. pens take the series in 5 on sunday.

im also loving cheechoo right now. its gonna be hard to root against him if the pens and sharks make the finals.

my habs post-playoffs post:

I'd first like to say that the habs was a team that was suposed to finish between 9 and 11 in the east according to sports analyst and stuff. The habs showed that they deserve their playoff spot during the season. Huet should have stay for the playoff.

In the playoff, habs were not the team that showed up all season long.

I raise my hat to the bruins, a team that fight for their 8th spot, they got a hard season, lost 8 to the habs and lost bergeron (which receive a cheap shot from jones who got the 8374th suspension for the flyers this year). They had great playoff and fight till the end to force a 7th game. props.

Biron was the best goalie in habs vs flyers, he did great seriously. Price had a lot of problem, he was not ready for that much pressure. Umberger was a key player props to him. And seriously props to the flyers fan that booed the canada anthem because they don't even know that half of their player are canadian, smart!

Well I predict a pitsburgh vs detroit final, Pitsburgh should win the cup!

The NHL is awesome hardest fucking league to pick a winner. Pretty much any team can contest any other team in a best of seven series. It's basically the epitome of parity.

wow go watch dallas vs san jose. morrow ended milaleks lfe at the end of the 3rd and the first OT had like 3 of the best saves of the year. unreal.

Daaaamm in the west it's going to be sick!!! Defensive VS Offensive!!!

and it the East it's going to be pitsburg in 4 flyers sucks! Pitsburg is going to crush PHiladelphia

Biron can't do that for so long! AND I've never see so much lucky/garbage goal in my whole life...

ON the west side I hope Detroit will win to have a pitsburg/detroit offensive stanley CUP Finals

you obviously dont know much about hockey from the shit you have been saying throughout this thread. Playoff hockey is like college football, on any given day any team can win. Rankings and how they played during the regular season does not affect how they play in the playoffs they come out with a whole different intensity. I figured since you talk so much shit you would at least know that about hockey.

it's kinda true but at the same time... when you've been a contender for a few years and you go and pick up cambell... Look Pitsburg and Detroit... they are still in the game.. as the SHarks should be

ya i mean ya you expect contenders to do well but im just saying playoff hockey is like a whole new season with all new players. for the most part even the teams that have pulled off sweeps in some of the series have had lots of close games only winning them by 1 goal. players turn into fuckin super heros when it comes to playoff time and well others cant handle the pressure and play bad.

After the sharks lost in what could technically be deemed as the first period of game EIGHT... or the first overtime of game seven?... I will reside from posting in this thread, and officially shave my playoff beard. I just have two final words for you guys... GO PENNSYLVANIA!!!

Oh... perhaps two more.... FUCK TEXAS.

Finally the Pens will meet a team with some grit. I am excited to see someone finally take some runs at Malkin and Crosby. At least they will have some guys with some heart who wont mind dropping the gloved with BGL if they have to.

I wish I could give Crosby 3 tips for this round:

#1 this is hockey, not diving. You don't just swan dive onto the ice when someone touches you.

#2 stop crying to the referees everytime someone hits you. our so-called "ambassador" to our game cries more than a 10 year old school girl.

#3 keep your head up when downie is around. I would love to see some Dean McAmmond hitting in this series.

The flyers have only been in it this long, thanks to Biron playing outstanding, and Umberger somehow putting the puck in the net. Philly has played 2 teams with 2 shitty goalies. The Flyers are grittier, but the difference is, that the grittier guys on the pen's 3rd and 4th lines can actually score. In my opinion, theres just too much talent on the pens for Philly to contain. It's gonna be a good series, but Philly isn't designed to take on the pens. Unlike Washington or Montreal, the Penguins have 2 extremely solid scoring lines, and a goaltender that is playing the best hockey of his career. Penalties could really kill the flyers. Roberts, Laraque, and Rutuu will keep the intensity up.

And all of this "diving" garbage is getting a little ridiculous as well. Take a number and get in line with everyone else that has been on the penguins nuts about it lately. The fact of the matter is, STAR PLAYERS DRAW PENALTIES. Guys like Malkin and Crosby are constantly skating through traffic trying to make a play. They don't like to play dump and chase hockey. They cut to the net, split the defense etc. When you're constantly moving your feet, cutting hard, stopping on a dime, you go down easier than others. Jagr drew a ton of penalties again the pens in the series. The pens just have a really good PK and the rangers shit the bed on every powerplay. But I couldn't help but laugh when the entire rangers bench was bitching about diving, when Tyutin litterally took is hand off his stick, grabbed crosby's shoulder and threw him to the ground.

Honestly, it's hard to stop them without taking a pentalty. I was a defenseman when I played in highschool. One of our big rival schools, had this winger that was insanely good. He was having a bad game if he scored 3 goals. It was so hard to maintain body position on him, and check the puck off him without accidentally hooking or tripping him. And if you didn't play hard he basically put the moves on you and made you look like you've never skated before. I sat in the box at least once every game because of him.

Pens in 5.

wow you played hockey in highschool, you must know everything about the game.

I'm not going to try and come here and say that philly has more firepower than the pens, because that is definitely not true. They didnt have more firepower than MTL or WAS but they got the job done. You know why? Because they are a playoff team.

The Pens haven't faced any adversity this playoffs. The sens (as much as I love them) could have been beaten by my local peewee team. The Habs are much more like the Pens (fast guys, who are softies and have no heart). Lots of euros on that team (similar to the pens), who like you say, dont like to dump the puck in and battle.

You talk about goaltending. WOOOOW. Fleury is so amazing omg!!! He has SOO much playoff experience eh? Sounds kind of like the Price story to me. No one thought he could be beat, until he lost a couple games and started to FEEL the pressure. Can't wait till that happens with Fleury. Philly is gonna get in there and rattle his cage.

Why do you think that the Pens purposely lost their final game to avoid Philly? ahaha. you guys are like scared little girls. Time to play with the big boys. Keep your head up.

The fact that you even compared Fleury's post season to Carey Price's, has just removed the the last miniscule amount of respect that I had for your opinions. Price play pathetic. Fleury has been making huge saves game after game. There is no comparison really.

Marc-Andre Fleury:

GAA - 1.76 (3rd)

Save % - .938 (1st)

Wins - 8 (1st)

Shutouts - 2 (1st)

Carey Price:

GAA - 2.78 (9th)

Save % - .901 (13th)

Wins - 5 (7th)

Shutouts - 2 (1st)

yes this is the 2nd time Fleury has played in the playoffs... ...it is also the 1st time Biron has played in the playoffs. So don't even bring playoff experience in the picture. The lead leading "cage rattler" Sean Avery didn't even phase Fluery. All he got was a ball-tap from Fleury and ruptured spleen from Hossa. I have respect for how Biron has played, but never compare what MAF has done so far to Carey Price.

I am a sens fan and I really didnt see many big saves from fleury. Most of the shots were from outside, with no traffic in front. He was definitely not a factor in this series.

WOW fleury has two years experience? From what the 5 games he played in last year where the sens destroyed him?

Thanks for the stats tho. Lets just wait and see what happens. As long as the Penguins dont win the cup I will be happy. Crosby couldnt handle drinking anything but Gatorade out of that thing. He is a lightweight.

u guys can all throw facts and shit at each other but who wants it most is really what its gonna come down to.....but the flyers and pens is gonna be a vicious series.......Go flyers!!!..........p.s....crosby IS a bitch
