Starting job at golf course today. Drop your best rounds. Mine is a 81. Been golfing since corona but learned when I was young. Whats up with y'all

Nice man, golf is all about what you put into it, its very difficult to get better without some serious time. That being said, I learned when I was young but didn't pick it back up until about 12 years ago, start getting better/being more serious about it 5-6 years ago and the last couple of years i've been playing 3-5 days a week when its not snowing. My handicap is 8, best round is a +2 73.

sick that's legit bro good luck on breaking par eventually. golf is great forreal it's like the ultimate test/reward and any fitness level can play good. I grinded last summer went everyday and took 4 lessons at golf tec. broke 100 and 90 in a year and now im so addicted. I be wishing for no snow sometimes its crazy.

Im terrible. Absolute dogshit. But I have a good time at least learning. Ive been grinding out summers for the last like 4 years taking care of courses out here in PC so Im down with it. Im weird and enjoy those early-as-fuck mornings mowing fairways on the big rig mowers.

Hardest most satisfying thing I'm putting energy into lately. I shoot in the high 90's but got a membership to the local course in town. I'm breaking mid 80 this summer. PGA next.

I spent a lot of years working course maintenance at golf courses. Still kinda miss the work, just not the hours or pay. Best I've ever shot was a 72, never broke par on 18 unfortunately. Now that I have to actually pay for golf, I'm only playing a few rounds a summer. But we just got back from a quick mid-week trip to Mesquite to gamble and golf, and had a hell of a good time.

mine is an 81. Going to start working on my game for this season this coming week. My left knee and hamstring are bummed right now so I gotta stay off the planks and my MTB for a bit

Bro thats hype! Ive worked at a golf course since I was 16 and I have played my entire life (high school, college, etc.) Its the perfect balance for Skiing in the winter and spring and golf for fall and summer. My best round was a 64 at a golf course in St. George Ut. I actually do lessons for kids in the summers at a local country club so if anybody needs help with swing tips or anything let me know!

That’s sick dude I’m looking to work at my course this summer too. Don’t have a handicap setup but midish 80s golfer and my best round was a 79.

I shoot in the 90s but I only get out a few times a year, I know how to hit the ball but golf is not like riding a bike- if you aren’t getting reps in you’re not getting better

best round is 85, been playing more lately as winter winds down. Such a fun sport but for a hack like me there is no semblance of consistency :/

Lol ya'll are good as fuck. My best is a 104 but I've only been playing for like 3 years now so I'm pretty happy with it. Goal is to break 100 this year. I was for sure a hater before I actually tried it, but golf is fun as fuck

Im not good but Im not bad. I played lots when I was younger but other hobbies took over and golf just fell to the wayside. Now that I am living in the birthplace of golf, I figured I should at least play a few rounds. I shot a 93 first time out then played a few weeks later and shot 111. Need to play more to get more consistent. Golf is enjoyable and it is always great to connect with that ball.

Been working on the descending blow and finishing with my hands up higher. If I can make my short yardage game serviceable, I might break 80 this year haha

103 at Torrey Pines today. A little better than I was expecting after a four month hiatus. So much fun being out there.

It's all about putting man, only times ive shot below 80 was because my putter was on fire.

true, but if I can put the ball closer to the pin in the first place, it would help my stupid game out hahaha

Sure, hitting greens in reg also makes it way easier but that doesn't always make up for a bad hole or two, gotta get some birdies here and there.

For me, getting better at putting has made a huge difference, I highly recommend to anyone trying to get better to put a good amount of time into putting, it pays off.

Just like tiger. Start at 2' from the pin and work out from there. Totally agree putting is the least practiced yet most important part of the game. It's so hard to consistently "two putt".

You shot a +9 in 2 years of golfing that's pretty fuckin impressive

I'm not so sure on my best game ever but the best game I ever shot competitively was an 89 freshman year of high school.

Been playing golf all my life but have been slacking after high school when I actually have to pay. If I've got the time I might pick it up a bit more this summer.

There's gotta be some beautiful golf courses near Mt. Hood I would love to play at this May.

Yeah that's true, and avoiding 3-putts like they're the plague is a must

Yeah man, I rarely 3 putt unless i'm at a course I haven't played much/has insanely fast or insanely slow greens. My biggest issue these days is just getting on the green in reg, I one putt for par often haha.

I love playing when its cold and all the old pieces of shit are home. Kind of sucks this winter was just intense enough to keep the year round weather permitting courses closed.

Rounding up friends can be a pain and I hate golfing with random boomers.

This is facts about having to pay. Now that my four years of free high school golf is over I see myself playing a lot less this year

I don’t know how people cough up the dough to play so many rounds- even walking a midweek twilight round is going to add up to thousands of dollars a year if you play multiple times a week. Around here at least there isn’t the same type of seasons pass type deals for golf that the ski areas have?‍♂️

I think it pretty much is like skiing. I don't really play that much but I've noticed a lot of courses do have season pass type deals. Kinda similar pricing to skiing too. Steep but if you make that your thing you can really bring the price down. If you really play every day for a year your price is only $2.74 per day on a $1000 pass. I saw a course the other day that had a special for an unlimited couples pass for $899 for a year

Same as skiing really, I buy a golf pass these days but its easy to rack up the costs. I love golf too much to care though, I don't mind spending money on it, but I certainly spent years golfing for the least amount of money as possible.

We have a thing called an Oki card but it’s like basically discounted and pre paid golf at all the nicer courses in WA. All the like redneck snoqualmie valley courses don’t really have a seasonal program like you’re talking about

Swing looking good, if I were you I would work a little on your posture when you are lining up to the ball and are about to hit (I forgot the oficial term and it’s killing me), if you fixed your posture to be a little taller, you’d be able to get more in sync rotation with your hips and shoulders which will lead the ball to go straighter, higher, and farther.. take a look at Rory Mcilroy when he is addressing the ball, homeboy is trying to put out his ass as much as possible

Not a great example but this may help

working at a golf course has shaped me into the ok Golfer I am forsure. Glad it helped me get my mind off of skiing a little in summer of 2020 but for whatever reason that wasn’t the case in summer of 21. Didn’t play as much or improve as much as I did in 2020 but I guess that’s just cause I got a real job for the weekdays instead of working at the course on weekdays and weekends.

I think you’re thinking of the term “addressing” the ball?

And wow, you’re absolutely right. I tried this today on the course and my yardage increased when I would hit it flush, and the contact felt stronger.

Has anyone skied at a golf course? The course I go to has tons of sick little hills and bumps and I always think about hitting them when I play

That’s awesome! Hitting it flush is probably the best feeling in golf, that extra rotation will help big time.. the hips do so much for the swing and it’s kinda crazy that it gets overlooked (relative to the arms and arm strength)

Kirkland balls are just as good as most 5 dollars balls, change my mind

They're good but not better than a top premium ball, but if you're not picky they are a great ball at a good price.

Choosing a golf ball is purely preference, any premium ball will perform and most mid level balls are just fine for anyone above 10 handicap.

Put up an 89 yesterday, first full 18 of the season. First 9 was atrocious, but the second 9 was consistent. Couldn't hit my driver, so I took my medicine and put it back in the bag. ended up with 2 or 3 pars on the second 9 because of doing that.

That’s a tough thing to do. I always end up having a couple drinks and just being like fuck it I didn’t come out here to play well fuck laying up. Also why I am bad at the game.

Didn't have anything to drink this round, and it really helped the swing tbh

Such a fine line between drinks and loosening up and drinks and your arms are spaghetti.

Anyone know any courses open in BC? Okanagan, I heard there may be some in the lower mainland going?

Thats how I used to be, now when I'm super drunk I actually play pretty good I have to be near blacked out to not be able to swing a club haha

truth. I've been playing way better being completely dry, so unless I'm playing in a scramble with the homies, I think I'll keep playin dry haha
