NS 0708 site suggestions!

I'm posting this as its something that's caused me much frustration on this site, and would also solve lots of problems.
A SEARCH ENGINE THAT WILL SEARCH MORE THAN JUST TITLES!!!!1
Now, I dont think the current search is bad, but because it only searches titles, you only get maybe 30% of the results that are relevant to your query.
The other aspect that would be nice would be being able to search by the author of the thread/post. Much easier to find other people's FS threads and what not.
Need an example? Go use the vBulletin search. MUCH better.

this may have been posted but i am not gonna look through this thread. i haven't been paying attention since the first page. It would be awesome to be able to set a default region for when you click on regional forums. every time i have to scroll and find montana, it would be sweet if regional forum just took me to montana. OR being able to create your own quick links! similar to boomarks toolbar in firefox, that would be raaaddd.

I say TRASH MyThreads, add a "subscribe/unsubscribe" link, have MyThreads becoming My Subscribed Threads, and when you go to the list, your threads you subscribed to are there. The already viewed ones are in normal font, and the ones with new post/content are in bold. The top of the list is the bold, most recently posted thread, then the bottom of the bold list is a thread you havent checked in since it's recieved new posts, but least recently responded. Then the thrads you've read take the same most recent view/post order.

MyThreads works great, if you used it from the start...
Not sure if someone has mentioned this, but the little "Legal" link at the bottom right of every page is broken... thats kinda important, eh?

minor, but i think it would be really helpful to have the rest of your offline friends listed below the online ones, with dimmed or grey names. many times i have needed to pm or check pics, etc and when your friend isnt online it would be nice to have them right there. the Online Members list could just move down a bit. not very important.

Trick tips would be pretty sweet cause theres alot of people who can't throw down but would stil like to progress, like even the real basic stuff like how to hit jumps properly. I know there are alot of threads on those kinds of things but it would be good if there was just a single guide that people could check out in the first instance.
Also the tips on how to wax and tune would be a good idea also, cause again there are always people asking for tips on how to do it.
Search bar for cults would also be good, even if you had a seperate searchbar inside the cult itself.

There should be an easier way to invite people to cults. As of now, you have to copy their name, and go all the way to the cult's home page and paste it in the box. I think if you were a button with the "make friend" buttons in people's profiles that were to say "invite to cult", and then bring up a list of cults that you are a leader in, convenience would be acheived.

not sure if it has already been suggested or not.. having a feature where the videos are able to be categorised by length would be really sweet, kinda like youtube where you can sort by date or length or whatever. I know it would be hard to do but you could maybe do it for only the videos that are hosted by NS, as they already say how long they are.

I honestly met so many other skiers and people from my hometown through this thing.
#2 yeah.. like everyone else said, your search bar needs some serious work.
I liked the search bar from about 3 years ago better.
you could type the word "fuck" for example and every picture, video, thread, contents in the thread that found the words "fuck" said in it would come up in the search results. much much much much better that way.. dont know why it was ever taken away other than the fact that it might have used a shitload of bandwidth.

i dont know if it has been said before. but in forums have a resort review kinda thing. there are always people asking how this mountain is and stuff like that and to have a forum for that would be good.

sub forums for ski equipment, so one for skis and gear, one for outerwear, one for electronics, just clean it up a little

How about editable quick links, so that you could add a forum into the quick links bar so you could add say one of your favorite cults forums to it or you local regional one.
Another idea similar to this is to make a recent threads list that would be below the quick links list and this would just be the last 10-20 threads you posted in.
The next idea is 'marking' threads. so up by the top of the thread right above the first post would be a mark thread box that you could check and uncheck. then the thread would appear highlighted compared to the rest of the threads in that forum and could go up next to the recent threads list or even in it's own special forum. (like my threads but it wont leave affter you view it again.
And the Best Idea yet is to have larger video upload capacities yeah I know it's expensive but it would be worth it.
or as an alternative NS could become a sudo pay site, where the size of the video or picture you can upload gets bigger with your donator status (my money is coming this weekend after I get my pay check)
