Marine Vet Wounded Occupy Oakland

I lolled, the american revolutionaries knew that a war was necessary for them to succeed. These kids in the Occupy Whatever movement arent thinking that far ahead.

Sadly a violent revolution is the only way to change our already corrupt government. The american people have zero leverage on anyone in Congress and those career congressmen arent going to let the people take their money away.

pretty sure americans can stop buying products made by these big corps. that takes money out of their pockets, which in turn prevents them from spending their millions on lobbying. its a long process, but people don't understand how everyday they support these large companies, whether it be buying food produced by these large corps, clothing made in china, etc.. if american's were more resourceful and actually did more for themselves as opposed to having everything given to them, i doubt we would be in this position. its the peoples fault, its not the governments. we put these corps into power by buying their product. grow your own vegetables, start a business, buy local, ride a fucking bike.

I love the idea behind this occupy thing - lobbying has gotten out of control, but stick it to the man by not giving him any of your hard earned money.

I have no sympathy for them. They were given multiple days to move. It was all over the news for the last week down here and now they just broke down a fence to go right back where they got kicked out of

I venture to say they weren't allowed to protest in that location and/or infused with anarchists who are always looking for an excuse to get in a tussle with the police. I see people throwing tear gas back and it is evident they are just bitches.

Pretty much nailed it. After this the police fenced off the area and these dumbasses broke down part of the fence and tried to storm back in but they only had like twenty people

Course you're gonna throw the fucking tear gas back, that shit is painful. I don't have any idea what is going on with this shit, was it like some stupid /b/ thing that attracted a bunch of black blocs and liberal students or something? The Italian one pretty crazy, people blowing up cars and smashing windows and the like. But the Italians love a good protest. Honestly back in highschool I would have been at one of these things but I got over that years ago. Nothing but a general strike or violent insurrection is going to change anything even remotely quickly. It obviously doesn't represent that many people or Ron Paul would actually be getting some votes.

From what I read in the other articles i read it sounds like he got shot in the head with one of those tear gas canisters, he's in critical condition with a fractured skull and brain swelling. Apparently when people gathered to help him the police threw a flashbang at the group of people helping him as well. Ouch...

it is terrible and all, dude's really hurt, shitty series of events how the people helping him looked just like more protesters gathering and got gased dadada, but that was hilarious. no "call 911" or "call an ambulance," they've left oakland and gone to normandy.

Not to mention given the seriousness of his injury and where he is laying it clearly looks like he got shot at practically point blank range... some asshole basically shot him in the head.

OH GOD WHERE'S THE MEDIC?

Since when do protesters bring fucking medics along with them to protest? That was pretty stupid hahaha

First thing I noticed.

Secondly they carry him wrong.

And screaming WHAT'S YOUR NAME at the top of your lungs when everyone is screaming and that guy isn't stable doesn't make sense at all.

Damn Hipsters no nothing about first aid.

If it was russia they could have better handed him over to the police cause over here behind the police line there are always doctors on side for first-aid.

Was hoping everybody would come together and demand real change at some point.

this shit is different though. People protesting to protest, people demanding changes that don't even understand the real issues in the first place.

Before you get to the point of protesting in the streets and have all this shit go down, you should at least know some shit about the country and what's going on.

I'd be surprised if more than like 10 percent of the people protesting really had a grasp on the issues and understood things enough to have an intelligent conversation about the flaws in the system, and the changes they would like to see. Also being able to back up any of those things with solid facts.

Hell the majority of America wakes up everyday absolutely dead sure that the other "side" (rep or dem) is the problem. I understand that it's not likely to have a protest of this size where everyone is on the same game plan all around, but the situation right now is just ridiculous.

If people don't understand the issues what the fuck are they going to change? I heard so many ignorant people talking about "we want change" during obama's election. The level of ignorance was unreal. Most of those people couldn't name a real issue and give a well thought out argument on what could be done to change it for the better.

Ignorance is a powerful force. In the situation the America is in these days, it's fucking crippling.

Besides the "Medic" shenanigans.

Why are they using teargas and all that?

Over here in the Netherlands we use a different kind of crowd control.

Water cannons, and no I don't mean a car with a little water jet on top of it.

We use a purpose built futuristic machine:

Can't embed (mobile NS) but it's a very effective crowd control device.

Against some which-school kids in Amsterdam who where protesting for having too many lesson hours:

Different angle:

^^yeah man, those things fuck shit up,here's the one we have in belgium...

i've seen them use this exact model on a protest where i go to college and they litterally shred your cloths and can blow off shoes and backpacks, if this thing comes close to you and you happen to be in the frontline, you're fucked ...

it's also equipped with a shitload of cameras and has 1 driver, an observer/coordinator and 2 gunners who operate the water cannon from inside the cabin.

all live video feeds are also transmitted to the operation commander.

I'd love to shoot one of those cannons during a riot, seems like a really good way to spend some time...

damn hippies need to realize that RL isnt like call of duty, if riot control throws a flashbang or fires other non lethal weapons on you, you better gtfo ....

+ if you're in a riot, don't cry that you got hurt .....

maybe a little, the vid you posted was indeed a fuckup, and i agree it was unjustified use of force, on the other hand if they're trying to push back protesters to the extent they need to use flashbangs/teargas, the protesters should realize that shit just got real and they really need to gtfo ...

i doubt the guy that got knocked out was hurt by (one of) the first flashbang/teargas grenade ....

so long story short, when you're in a riot/protest it's not all that hard to see/know when you need to scramble, if you fail to realize you're not wanted there when they're throwing teargas/flashbangs (rubber bullets?) then you better accept the consequences ...

Non lethal weapons are designed to take you down, so yea, you are gonna get hurt, you're just not gonna die...

you can't say that it was unjustified force and then argue that the protesters shouldn't have been there and they have to accept the consequences. your argument is circular and doesn't make sense.

we aren't talking about the protest. i'm talking about the office purposely throwing a flash bag into a group of people who are trying to help an individual who was clearly knocked down by an initial flash bang in the original video. it was not honorable. that is my only quarrel with what is taking place in those videos.

He was shot in the head with a baton round i think (rubber bullet as we call them in Europe). But it was very close range.

After seeing how shit the police were in London when the riots happened - i kinda wish they'd used this kind of force - however, there it was justified when people were burning down people's livelihoods -

BUT again, nobody knows the whole story to this... who knows what that "trained soldier, fighter, killer" was gesturing to do to that police officer - yes the police were close to him, but play devils advocate - he was close to the police.... did he reach in to his pocket to grab something - a gun, a knife, a petrol bomb? Police don't just shoot you like that for no reason.... and they certainly don't just shoot you for having a pink fixie.... (although they should)...

There is always more to these stories.

^^agree with all that, but still my original point:if he wasn't looking for trouble i doubt he would've gotten hurt ...

if you're protesting, fine, you're achieving something

but if protesting turns into a cat/mouse game with the cops, you're only going to get hurt and lose the game in the end ...

Exactly - the rozzers don't just shoot you because you're "protesting".... must be more to it.

try that and see how far you get. go home and throw out anything made by a corporation and never buy anything from them again and see how far you make it.

and while you're at it - throw out any oil based product you own or use for everyday life... see you in the stone age. You certainly won't be skiing this winter unless it's on homemade wood planks and dressed in wool, and hiking.
