This movie is awesome but whats up with the mcdonald comercials for it

I mean they are so stupid i was watching them during a football break and i was so disapointed with them joining mcdonalds
 
just got back from seeing it, I totally agree, the whole thing took me in, and with it being in 3d just added to the effect. I'd say go and watch it for sure, one movie you wont regret seeing
 
I went high last night to the 3-D version. It was fucking awesome. It was like I was a kid again, with the power to let my imagination go. It's a bit like a crazy ass dream. I recommend it.
The story wasn't that much of a draw card for me, because I'm not the biggest fan of sci fi. But from a visual point of view, nothing I have seen comes close.

So good.

i cant get over how incredibly it was nor get close to thinking of a movie thats even close to as good.

Visually, the film was amazing. They created a believable and rich environment for the story to play out on... but besides the amazing special effects, honestly the film wasn't that good. The plot line (although it had alot of potential) was fairly predictable and they explained many things much too directly, instead of letting the audience infer with subtle ques, leading up to a truth being revealed. Its definately not "The greatest movie ever"... actors were okay, script was believable, but bland and predictable, characters were stereotyped to extremes, with no real character development in 80%+ of the prevailing cast. I must be the only person on the planet to feel this way though... so just disregard this post lol
 
you're definately not because i think that's how a lot of people felt, including me, but the visuals were such a breakthrough that the lack of a real new and/or interesting plot is kind of disregarded. i went into this movie knowing i would barely listen to anything that was said, and i already pretty much could guess what would happen, so i got just what i was hoping for- a sensory overload for my eyes.
 
Aren't movies kinda getting to that point where a lot of things have been done before in some form or another?
 
i dont know if you were agreeing or disagreeing with me, but i too have often wondered how any new movies can be created. i mean i know there's a lot of talented writers out there but it seems like there's just so many movies that it would be hard to create something super original, so it's up to technology to create a new viewing experience
 
great movie overall

i did, surprisingly, have issues with it.

1) DWW.

wow what an amazing story, so original. oh wait, its not at all! what

about a little something called dancing with wolves? i mean 1990 wasnt

that long ago! and it wasnt jsut some small movie, it won 7 oscars for

christ sake! and james cameron has been working on this for what... 15

years? soo... 5 years after? gee i wonder where he got the idea from...

2) the 3D

i really don't like 3d movies. they say "the whole things in 3d" but

its not, only certain things are at certain points. it doesnt create a

depth of field like its supposed to i guess, it makes a weird partial

distance thing that really just strains my eyes. i honestly found

myself taking off my glasses often because my eyes just couldnt take

it. i wish it was just in normal format to be honest.

3) sam worthington

at first i thought i didnt like his acting.. then i realized his

character just kinda bugged me. he just was too cocky at times and it

just annoyed me.

other than that, it was one amazing movie.

it hits on the same level as something like a transformers movies, with

alot of booms and bangs and a bad general, but it also had a bit more

depth than that.

it wasnt dissappointing in the end, and id totally reccomend someone see it, cause it was pretty cool.
 
Saw it in 3D most epic movie i've ever seen. I going to see it again definetly. 3d was definetly worth every second.
 
looks pretty interesting. I have heard there are mixed reviews but haven't read any actual reviews..
 
just got back from it

i wish i'd gotten blazed beforehand, but everything in that movie was incredibly spectacular and intense

my gripes were the overdoing of the length, effects in general, and the spirituality of the natives but in general it was pretty sick, just incredibly long
 
I liked the movie, but there was a lot of stupid little things that kept me from really liking it. And did anyone notice that they used a battle song straight from his older movie "Aliens" that is just fucking lazy doing that. Inglorious Bastards is still my favorite movie this year.
 
That shot of the space ship at the beginning reminded me of something all too familiar... but wow that was a sick movie. slightly predictable (friends and I were successfully calling some details before they happened) but whatever that was intense. See it in 3D, and wear the glasses after. The ladies will love it.
 
Dopppeee movie, they will have no problem making back their investment with this one...

I agree with whoever was saying the 3D was a little bit of a strain on the eyes... I had to take off the glasses at times because it was too hot to handle.
 
sick movie, visuals and sounds (i was 3d btw) were fucking epic, story was really good...semi boring at times but mostly sick. wish i got high before, also wish i was in imax.
i actually liked how the plot skipped scenes once you got the general idea of what was gonna happen (i.e. giant fucking dragon mount scene)
oh and fuck you thread creator because you said they are 8 feet tall, which wasnt even fucking close and i didnt really realize how big they actually were til the end when they fight humans, try 12-14 feet tall.they are twice as big as the humans easily.
 
Whats the verdict? Good movie to get frazzle dazzled or eat some boomers for? I might go for 3d at an imax to see it.

I just got home from seeing the movie (in 3D)! holly shit. Im pretty sure i hate real life now, period. That was so incredibly sick.

I also liked how it was kinda long, you got your moneys worth out of it. I would strongly suggest you go see it and get your mind blown. i wish i had an IMAX theater close by.
 
words can't describe how BA that movie was! im geeking out over how awesome it was. i'm going to go see it again tomorrow!!!

I don't see how you could say the plot was good, even if you are a conservationist.

The visuals were some of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

The language developed for the Navi was amazing.

The way that the Navi connect with others: awesome.

This movie was as satisfying as the perfect date: great dinner, something you both love to do, honeymoon suite, flowers everywhere, candles...and then you get erectile dysfunction at "the moment."

The plot was absolutely cookie-cutter, evil greedy man vs nice man in tune with nature.

I still give the movie 4 out of 5 just based on the shots, the CGI, the 3D, and the fact that I think it is the future of moviemaking, but anyone who attempts to argue that the plot is good needs to stop drinking the magical James Cameron kool aid smell the glowing neon flowers.

Go see it because it is the most visually beautiful movie of the year. Don't expect an original or even interesting plot. You won't get one.

Yes the plot was overplayed but seriously were starting to see that with a ton of movies now, after 100 years of cinema, people are going to start running out of ideas.
I just loved the way Cameron developed the Na'vi and their culture. I really liked how their language was similiar to some Native American languages. That and they actually have respect for their natural world, something that seems to be lacking these days.
 
That's all I care about. I'm going to be in the mindset where polt doesn't matter really cool shots in 3d will be all I care about.
 
I'd more say that it's following the idea of fern gully (which I don't think is a bad thing at all).

It was said that there are 7 plot lines that exist, and I find truth in that. So whatever, you will never see a completely original anything ever, it's all been done. Because of that, I think it's unfair to hate on anything for being "unoriginal". It's like saying something will last "forever" forever isn't real, it can't exist, so why bother having a word to represent it? Know what I'm saying?
 
it's like when you were a little kid and you found out about superheroes. you just sit there and wonder what it would be like if you could live in that world.

fuck batman, i wanna live in pandora. that movie is truly a feast for the eyes.
 
dude its fucking james cameron. if you went into that movie expecting some deep souled interpretive movie, then you are the biggest fucking idiot ever. james cameron is known to put out the most visually stunning movies ever from terminator to titanic. hes not out there to create any film invoking social justice. he creates movies to entertain people visually WHILE still keeping people interested through a decent story line. yeah thats great you guys realized that its not the best film stories ever but you still sound like a god damned jackass when you're "critiquing" a film without the slightest clue of the directors/writers style... one of the best directors/writers of all time might i add.

Just got back from the theater... The visuals were simply amazing, but the (English) diolouge was pathetic. Every time someone said "I feel you" I just wanted to slap them.

I though it was a great movie except for a few things, everytime they would mention the way everything in their world was connected I kept thinking of "the force" from star wars. And all the air craft looked straight outta Halo
