It's funny because it was warranted. You made a poor generalization without any implication of it being a "joke" and then followed with "yeah I said it". Sounds to me like you are indeed one with a sense of elitist entitlement. From your statement which was obviously a "joke"...but not really, it sounds like you are a partisan of elitism and therefore should not be taken seriously when it comes to these threads. By all means you can say that there are more black/hispanic recipients of welfare on average than white. That is a fact nobody can deny. However, you stop your train of thinking there and turn to feelings of superiority over these people. This type of attitude and lack of thinking only furthers the disdain between races. So if you are mad, or upset because there are more black people on welfare, then why not try to understand the real reason of why there is a dependency problem. If you do a bit of research and thinking on the issue you will begin to see the larger picture. Of course it takes some work, but it's better than taking the easy/ignorant way out and assuming all these people are lazy. Go ahead, give it a try.

lol so the U.S is not going to innovate anymore? So the U.S Isn't going to build power plants, Produce new technologies? There will be plenty of Jobs for engineers in the future in the U.S.
 
That's not my point.
My point was that people are not going into those trades right now because there are not as many jobs available...
less people are getting into teaching for the same reasons - not as many jobs available.

Ahem you claim our engineering jobs are going to china.... Engineers innovate, build, and develop new technologies exactly what I said. You saying that there is not going to be a demand for engineers in the future is saying that we aren't going to innovate build and develop
 
i cant say that the majority of people on welfare are just leeching off the system, but i have met and seen a lot of people on welfare with charity work i did last year, and i can honestly say that each and every person i met was a lazy piece of trash living off welfare. which is why i stopped after a couple weeks. there were a couple individuals who were struggling, but not on welfare, and they were great people for the most part and i was glad to help them out.
from my experience though, people on welfare fit the generalization very well. not saying this applies to everyone everywhere, but i have more reason than not to believe that the majority are lazy people who do not deserve any of our help

hard working as in willing to earn their own money, not live off others. i guess that shouldnt be considered hard working though, just normal.
 
exactly, we dont know their story, which is why its also wrong to assume that they are on welfare only because of bad luck. i know im not right to think that most people on welfare are lazy, but having met many many people on welfare myself, and not meeting one person that wasn't abusing the system. im going to lean on the side of the majority of them being more lazy than not. simply because i have more reason to.
 
Apparently we need to steal more money from everyone who's worked hard to earn it, and dump it into our shoddy education system!

I don't understand why the more right wing users of NS are getting their panties in a bunch over it, so what it's a generalization >implying "obama is a socialist" isn't a generalization. I'm not saying any of you said it but unfortunately that's what you got branded with.
