Is it just me or do chick seriously have a problem doing grabs??

i have problem crossing my skis when i spin too. i can do like critiicals, and mutes, but i cant tweak, or hold past 540

They have a different center of gravity. Women carry their weight in their hips, where guys are the chest. Thats the reason for women specific equipment, not just the colors/

i'm not that good at crossing my skis, i can do it but i can't like twist my legs into weird octograb positions and shit and do intense flexible tj mutes

snowboard girls are starting to actually get good. Soon girls will realize that their sex has NOTHING to do with their ability to ski and will stop settling for 360's with a bottslap as a grab. they're just as capable as men.

what are you saying? it wouldnt be near impossible if the chick knew what she's doing and would commit to it... you're either a bad teacher or tried to teach someone who doesnt even know how to slide a rail. I learned without anyone telling me what to do, so it's definitely not impossible.

as to the thread creator i dont really know... mute is like my safety grab if that helps, i do it for everything i cant just hit a jump and not grab that's sketch.

Actually the sex has quite a bit to do with it. Again, the weight distribution is radically different. This does not make things impossible, but possibly slightly more difficult. Thus requiring more props for girls who can throw down.

shit if you're talking about me im sorry, didn't mean to claim anything im not that good i was just pointing out that it's not impossible thats for sure.

I don't see why things would be harder when the center of gravity is lower, closer to your skis etc etc, it just requires a slightly different way of doing things, that shouldn't be so difficult to figure out lol.

female sare just as strong as males in other sports i.e. gymnastics, track and field, etc. i don't see any reason why they should be different then males.

Interesting post, I like the thought process and never really thought of it that way. However, if different weight distribution makes tricks more difficult for women, what about female athletes in other sports? I don't really follow gymnastics or ice skating, but it appears girls who participate in both sports throw down equally has hard as the men. Both ice skating and gymnastics have elements of rotation, flipping, coordination, balance, remarkable physique. With so many girls absolutely destroying the gymnastic and ice skating world, it appears as though a different center of gravity does not hinder their performance.

To the thread creator:

Have you not seen the 2 page Spyder ad in the Buyer's Guide edition of Freeskier? It has a shot of Keri Herman grabbing high mute and clearly spinning 540 or more over the Poor Boyz transfer Gap. Along with the shot being baller as hell, this ad clearly demonstrates a female not having any issues performing a grab other than safety. Need further proof? Find her NAO run from last year and witness one of the dirtiest cork 5 high mutes done in a contest.

Overall Thoughts on Women's Skiing:

Men started skiing park before women. Up until recently, I don't recall hearing any women other than Kristi, Sarah, and Grete in films. Up until recently, I don't recall any major competitions hosting a separate category for women. Up until recently, women's specific park skis were not available for purchase. Even more disappointing, the competitions that did invite women did so with 1/10 (if any) of the prize money offered to men. Without opportunities for a legitimate career, and with so much negative industry babble regarding women's skiing, what incentives did women have to throw down?

Thankfully, things are on the rise for women. X-games stepped up the prize money and many women have filming opportunities with major production companies and increased incentives from sponsors. Girls like Keri, Kaya, Sarah, Kim Lamarre, and Grete are absolutely destroying the park scene. Everything from multiple grabs, to incredible rail skills, to switch 9s, and gnarly quad kinks go down every day these ladies click in. If you deny the fact that women are progressing, you are more blind (yet far less gifted) than Stevie Wonder at the height of his piano career. (May he Rest in Peace).

?is it not true that the women's brain is smaller than the mans?

No. No they're not.
I'm all for equal rights and shit, but guys are just better. It's scientific.
When I watch a ski movie, I can't watch chick's segments. Am I supposed to be impressed just because they're good at skiing for being a girl? Let's be honest, pretty much all female pro skiers would not be pro if they were guys.

Guys are better than girls at sports. And women sports have been designed to keep it that way. (Example; girls lacrosse vs. guys.)

when i see women competing with the best of the guys move for move, setting quarter pipe records, throwing down big in the bc like pollard and pep, or even throwing hucked 1620's in big air contests then i'll will give them the credit due, same as the men, but until that day they will still take a back seat to the men, and to the above post, we're in the same sport, and the big tricks are there, waiting for a girl to do them, the motions are already there, i truly believe that if a girl wanted to throw a double they very well could, but they just don't push themselves as hard as the men. if they want the credit and the cash and the events THEY need to push themselves and show that they can be as big of a commodity as the men of the same sport, but that's just my take.

true. this might be a factor...

..but for every girl out there in the park not being able to grab, there's at least 10 gaper dudes who can't grab either. You can make as many generalizations as you want, every person is unique and has their own set of skills. It totally depends on the person.

and in the end I think the difference does come down to balls. Getting good at skiing takes a lot of stepping up and risk getting hurt or risk getting humiliated in front of everyone.

yes'm but realize that womens gymnastic maneuvers are quite alot different from mens. also they are not totally equal. womens times are still higher and throwing distances are still lower than mens.

seriously though, when did women deserve to get threads made about them? ahem.

ever heard of ashley battersby? ya, i'm pretty sure she's better at rails than i am.... and i see girls do decent grabs, but not very often. mostly in the pipe, where any female can be a "pro" skier hahaha

this is an erroneous statement.

sure, men in general have been skiing park longer than women, but that doesnt matter at all, it all depends on individual people. ive seen guys who have been skiing park for a season and are better than girls who have been skiing park for 2-3 years.

and its bullshit that xgames is making equal prize money for men and women. men have to compete against way more people, they have to go bigger and throw down harder, greatly increasing their chance of injury, more people watch men because it has a bigger "wow factor"

people shouldnt be payed equally in the same field for doing less than others

Maybee since they're getting the same prize money at X games this year they'll actually do something...
