High school basketball player passes ball to mentally challenged player on other team.

good to see that he saw an opportunity to help make a difference. Wonder if he'd do it if the game was riding on that play though...

Also is it just me, or is there a disproportionately high number of special needs students involved in basketball? Seems like every single onf of these feel good videos is basketball

this

it's a lot less physically demanding to a certain degree compared to other sports i.e. football, soccer, baseball, hockey. But if anybody wants to do any sport then good on them.

You have clearly never played real basketball. Running the floor over and over, basically sitting in a squat on defence, constant jumping, not to mention the skill involved with shooting. It's also very physical (boxing out, offensive rebounds). One of the more tiring games I've played.

Baseball =/= physically demanding. Unless you're the pitcher or the batter you're just chilling on the bench or near a spot on the field. IE Fielder is a fat man in a pro sport.

that's the closest i've been to crying since watching "into the wild" while fucked up on pain killers post-op.

gotta stick up for baseball too, sure you aren't sprinting the whole game but you have to be pretty athletic physically and mentally to hit those balls with force and run the bases. also pitching is pretty next level. why do you think that steroids are so prevalent in baseball?

there's definitely nobody saying baseball isn't hard and physically demanding. but to say basketball is 'a lot less physically demanding' than baseball is pretty goofy

Over yourself as far as sports go it's not that physically demanding, And unlike baseball I do consider basketball a sport.

Also the guy made a basket And their team still lost I don't get what the big deal is.

Every sport is demanding at a competitive level. Nobody is hating on basketball but think of the physical faculties it takes to bounce a ball versus having a baseball hurled at you and hitting it with a bat. Much more demanding to do at a basic level. Again not hating on basketball but at its basic level it's a clear choice for people with a handicap. Great video.

I completely agree, Basketball and Soccer are popular for the handicapped kids at my school, and some of them are actually pretty good. And baseball is mentally a bit more demanding to. At the high school level, 65-80 MPH pitching isn't even uncommon. And when you get hit, holy fuck does it hurt haha.

My highschool played a game similar to this but it was football the other team had the special needs kid. Great vid op

Jeeze it must be SO hard squatting down and sweating from time to time...

I love it when bros try to defend baseball. It's not physically demanding, it's a boring game and there's a reason why it's referred to as a game more often than as a sport. The only position that deserves respect in that game is the pitcher and even then you're still a goon for playing a game that most of Americans and the rest of the world mocks.

Hitting a baseball is easily one of the most difficult things to do in sports as said by many athletes. Just because a sport isn't as physically demanding all of the time doesn't take away from it. I could say basketball is for a bunch of pussies because the whistle is blown whenever you touch someone therefore hockey is by far superior. But you can't because you're comparing two different aspects of

Two different games. Theyre all challenging and the only retarted argument is that any of them aren't valid as sports because of what you think about them. I think the millions of viewers would disagree to say nothing of the fact It's Americas game. as I said before no sport deserves to be compared because they are different, picking basketball as most difficult is def where you lose me though. You run Alot, congratulations. Easily the dumbest of the big sports you score a fucking hundred baskets a game you're right must be the hardest! /rant

Yes, actually physical demand is a pretty common way of telling if a sport is a sport or if it's a game... Using your logic, since hitting a golf ball 300 yards onto the fairway is one of the hardest things to do in sports, then that must mean that golf is one of the toughest sports!

Millions of views must mean it's an amazing and exciting sport, then! Well how many of those fans know anything other than being fat bros that watch other fat bros play catch? NASCAR has millions of fans making it one of the more popular sports. By your logic that means NASCAR is one of the toughest and best sports to watch.

You'd have a better chance convincing a Jewish Temple that Hitler was a cool dude than convincing people with an 80+ IQ that baseball is a "sport" that deserves a sliver of respect.

Hahaha, pro baseball players are as close to freaks of nature as you can get. It's been proven hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports, not to mention actually driving the ball. Prince fielder that 5'10 chubby guy, runs a 6.9 second 60, CC Sabathia is a 6'6" close to 300 pound pitcher who throws mid 90s and can pitch complete games on the regular. He also runs sub 6.9, which is crazy fast for someone in general, not to mention someone that big.

That's good shit. The only thing I hate is that society has come to a point where it's amazing when someone reaches out and shows kindness, instead of it being expected

wow....

This thread got out of hand

in each sport, im arguing and comparing the ability to tune it down so that anybody could play said sport, not trying to justify how any other sport is MORE physically demanding / better

insert any god damn sport and you can tune it up to show its athletic prowess comparable to others and enter any god damn sport you can show how to tune it down so anyone could play

I'm sure you could make baseball extremely easy for anybody who wanted to play, I was referencing any sport in general compared to basketball, as basketball has almost no equipment, has a court that is significantly smaller than most other sports so its easier to run (unless its like tennis or fucking squash) and is fairly easy to pick up with not a lot of skill

Plus, I know for a fact my old high school has way more special ed basketball teams as opposed to baseball or football or fucking tennis teams whatever you may have.

and to the scrub trying to tell me I don't know shit about basketball, I was shooting guard / PF for 2 years on Varsity but quit the team to fuck with rugby

So sorry if i stepped on your favorite sports toes without 100% clarifying myself

christ

nobody is saying basketball is easy/for pussies/whatever

the question was asked why there are so many handicapped kids into basketball, the answer is because if the kid can bounce and throw a ball, that works. basket ball is probably the easiest sport to learn the basics of.

alright heres my 2 cents regarding this shit show of a sports debate (video was awesome by the way i saw it last night haha)

the most physically demanding sport without a doubt is to play a soccer midfielder (assuming you are comparing the sports at a highly professional level). not only do they average about 10 miles of running per game on a professionally sized field, but they also have to dribble the ball, take headers, attempt to beat the defense on the outside before sending a cross into the box, but they ALSO have to be back on defense in time to cover their man.

i've played baseball, hockey, soccer, and lacrosse and playing midfield in soccer absolutely kills me its so demanding and exhausting.

second most physically demanding sport is either hockey or basketball... basketball requires less down time however you need to remember to factor in the fact that hockey players are giving and taking hits constantly.

baseball is not what i would consider a "physically demanding sport". yes, you have to be in great shape like all sports, however baseball is a game of moments. outfielders need to be ready to make a sprint and a diving play however long distance endurance is rarely a factor in baseball. that being said, i agree that baseball is one of the most technical sports in the world and does require an INCREDIBLY high level of hand-eye coordination. just because hitting a baseball is the most difficult thing to do in sports (i do agree with that by the way) doesn't mean it is a physically demanding sport.

I love how you can tell exactly who plays baseball- they get uber defensive about it being a leisure sport when other people point out how aside from hitting the ball just how unathletic it really is in comparison to other sports.

I think it's hilarious personally. Who knew such a positive thread would spawn such butthurt gold?

P.S.- CC is a fucking slob, and wouldn't be fit to sell food at another pro sporting event lol...

leave it to NS to take a great video of sportsmanship and turn it into the dumb discussion of what sport is better than the others or harder than the other.

Can we have an award for the lamest claim of the year?

BRO I know SO much about basketball! I was on fucking varsity BRO! High school VARSITY! That's pretty much pro. Sunk so many baskets and 15 year old pussy being on varsity, bro.

Basketball is much more demanding than football or baseball, and it's slightly more demanding than soccer. The only sport I can think of that's more physically demanding than basketball is lacrosse. (I've never played hockey so I can't really comment on how demanding hockey is).

What makes you conclide that sport X is more demanding than sport Y? Every post in this thread is just a petty attempt to try and prove how mich better each persons sport is better than the other in terms of physical demand.

Each sport is differet and requires completely different physical attributes. Contack sports take their toll on your body over time, running sports take lots of stamina, some sports require incredibly fast reflexes, some require short bursts of speed, etc. i dont get why the fuck every person has to prove themselves by downolaying eachothers sports in EVERY sports thread. Yall are a bunch of kids fondling your sport's dick over the internet and conparing them. Grow up NS, youre better than that.
