I think all modern popular rap sucks so much dick like drake tyga wiz kalifa ect that is nothin gbut garbage how ever rappers like j cole, mick jenkins, chance the rapper, and kendrik and mac are good not great they used to be its like going to a shit thrift store you have to go through so much shit garbage to find good stuff

I completely agree 2015 has been an amazing year for rap, so many great albums. Like Dr Dre put something out this year, lol if that doesnt mean rap is making a comeback i dont know what does

Great album, totally agree. Ironically not from 2001. The Chronic 2001 dropped in 1999.

I might catch some hate for this... but the Ludacris, Word of Mouf album might be the best drop from 2001.

There was a time that Lil Wayne wasn't a shit rapper.... Back when he was a Hot Boy and dropped the first couple of Carters.

There was most certainly some shit rappers back in the day. That fact is that your statement is undeniable. However, the majority of rappers back in the day didn't sound like they had peanut butter stuck to the roof of their mouths.

No it hasn't, Rolling Paper 2 is going to be fire. A.L.L.A. was best rap album of 2k15. High hopes for logics album The Incredible True Story. Kendrick and JCole collab can't go wrong.
 
Long Live Asap, Good Kid Maad City, Doris, IndiCud, Yeezus and Magna Carta all dropped around the same time. Then once "Thats that shit I dont like" by chief keef came out the game changed big time.
 
This can be generalized about any genre of music. However, it is what is perceived as mainstream that I think people acquire these biases. For example, mainstream music in the 60s and 70's was pretty awesome and revolutionary in m eyes. Music in the 21st century is still awesome it just seems that the mainstream music is shit. For example, the radio can only play specific songs based on similarity. The similar the songs the more people conform to listen to that station and the more viewers they acquire. The rappers and artists that show skill and are on another level are usually not mainstream and are not played on the radio. There's good and bad rappers/music everywhere, it's just the mediums that play the music, which often distorts logic and promotes generalizations.

Listen to real underground. Flatbush doesn't count. Theres a lot of good creative rap getting put out, its just more spread out. In fact I'd say that the rap game has taken a massive turn for the better, with the rise of EDM and tons of talented white boys having a chance to be a part of hip-hop, good production is an exclusive rarity to an artist with a label deal. Any kid with a $75 dollar mic and some beats can put together an EP that sounds just as good (from an audio fidelity standpoint) as anything you could hear anywhere in 2002.

And while most of what gets put out by random kids is total crap, a lot of great stuff gets put out too. The sheer volume of fire mixtapes is overwhelming, but if you're willing to sift through it you can find a niche in hip-hop you love.

And I'd say that was barely even possible 10 years ago.

You're limiting yourself by not looking hard enough.

now here's some dank underground you probably haven't ever heard, and even if you don't like any of this specifically, there's literally thousands of rappers putting out tracks with good beats, with a huge difference in styles. You can find any rap you want to hear.
