I joined SigEp in college and it was a great experience. I made a great group of friends who I am still in contact with on a weekly basis. Joining a greek organization introduced me to so many people that I would have otherwise never met. It also gave me much needed accountability when it came to doing well in school and tons of opportunities to participate in campus activities. I met my wife because I joined a greek house.
That said, it isn't for everyone. I also made great friends outside the frat who would never join and that's fine. It's really a shame that so many of you judge it so harshly while clearly having no experience with it. If you gave it a shot and didn't like it, cool. Go do you own thing. Just don't assume I'm a douchebag because I made a different choice. If you are in college, I'd recommend at least considering it. That said, dont EVER put up with hazing. If you aren't comfortable in a situation, get out of there and report it. That is serious shit and people that think abusing you is fun are not your friends. /PSA.
