Formula One thread

McLaren F'ed up but Norris should also grow up and make the right calls. I know its all a different game racing for the wins but he should be there now..

Rumors: Toyota looking into getting back into F1. They were in the Haas garage.

Checo should be demoted, this is not acceptable anymore. Yuki should take his place. DR should be replaced by Liam. Get him ready for 2026.

Someone said Ocon might already be replaced by Doohan during summer break but that seems a stretch..

AM keeps getting new technical members but in the meantime they do not compete with the top anymore. Focus already on 2026?

Races are interesting again, different teams going for the win depending the circuit.

With some really good competition at the top, the second half of the season should brig a lot of thrill and excitement.

Did the f1 simulator on an MSC ship. Pretty damn cool. Was fairly realistic. Couldn’t just slam the brakes nor mash the throttle. They had 10 euro circuits. Did Monaco personally.

This looks awesome. Did you record the race? I would love to see it.

No didn’t record. Just snapped the pic of the guy using it before me. Unfortunately you don’t race. It’s a “test” session. You got 5 mins to just free run.

This must be the end for Checo right..?!

But what are they going to do.. Tsunoda should get the seat but with the Honda ties ending their influence is gone.. Putting Daniel in can not be explained, his performance is not there.. Putting Liam in also makes no sense because they have the junior team to gain experience..

Anyway, McLaren dont fuck this up, make it a clean weekend..

Out of the bunch they have signed Liam makes the most sense. He’s supposedly been the fastest on the simulator driving the current car.

Personally I would have brought Albon back into the fold. He’s showing he’s fast in an inferior car. I think he’s matured enough to not let the pressure of max make him crack this time around. Yuki is a fucking immature child. Always cursing and yelling and blaming everyone else for his mistakes. He destroyed the car in qualy today and immediately said “something happen” ya fucker you got off line and went into the grass and crashed. That’s what happened. Redbull already deals with max bitching enough but he backs it up with results. They don’t need two complainers.

Yuki should probably just leave the Red Bull family completely as it’s not doing him any favors. He technically “should” have the Red Bull seat but I can see why horny/marko wouldn’t want him in it.

I don’t understand how Red Bull have put up with Checo’s performance whatsoever. Literally nobody can be worse than Checo at this point, which would point to Daniel as he’s not necessarily “slow” or problematic at the moment. The Red Bull most likely suits his driving style as opposed to checo. As mid as Danny is right now it doesn’t seem like a bad idea to throw him in and see what happens.

Found the yuki nut rider. If you’re trying to deny that he doesn’t fucking whine and bitch every race then you ain’t watching. I watch practice 1-3 qualy and the race. Literally every session for every race he’s yelling and screaming at some point like a fucking child.

Ok but what about his developing skills and results?

Obviously he’s a hothead who also happened to learn a lot of his english (which he still barely knows) from mechanics, I mean what do you expect? Of course he shouldn’t be in the Red Bull, but you’re acting like he’s a shut driver just because he’s a dumbass on the radio.

Never said he was a shit driver. He’s actually a pretty good driver overall. Has speed. Not super consistent but overall is fast. I don’t deny any of that. You don’t make it to where he has and not have to talent.

my point is Red Bull knows EVERYTHING about him. As you said by this point he should have had a chance based or performance alone, but hr hasn’t had one. Why is that? Red Bull just hates Japanese drivers? Of course not.

they understand team dynamics are one of the most important things. He has a piss poor attitude. They don’t want that toxic attitude in their main squad. They don’t need yuki. Yuki needs them. Checo doesn’t rock the boat. Never gets too high or too low. He just kind of is. Now his performance has gone to absolutely shit so that’s another story. They’re also trying to keep max. Last thing they want to do is rock the boat more than it currently is and risk losing max.

thats why I believe Lawson will get the ride. He just shows up and drives. He doesn’t bitch or complain. He will just get in and drive and likely not bother max.

Finally McLaren finally got their ass in gear. Was slightly worried the way Lando was responding towards the end.

mclaren fucked shit up, honestly after the mistake it made more sense to allow norris to win considering he’s the only “real” title contender at the moment.

Plastri had the lead by overtaking Lando. They only pitted him at the time they did because they were planning the swap. Lando wasn’t faster. He couldn’t pass pastri throughout the entire race when he had a 5 sec lead and growing. The only reason Lando was growing a gap at the end was the fact piastri was listening to the team to save the tires while Lando was saying fu and pushing as hard as he could. No reason to ruin team dynamics and steal a drivers first win in f1 that he had earned. Lando is not winning the championship and McLaren know it.

Now I get why you love yuki so much. You’re a selfish as mf.

Just such a huge loss. Realistically he would have went down as the greatest driver in history with likely all the records had he been able to finish out his career

You don’t win a championship without being selfish.

You don’t win a championships without the help of your team. It’s called team McLaren not team Lando.

Btw Lando fully agrees with the call and how the race turned out. He could have been selfish and taken the win. He didn’t. He gave the spot back because that was the right thing to do.

Go ahead and look at what he said after the race. He admitted Oscar drove better than him period and deserved the win. he also admitted he knows he isn’t going to win the title this year.

I’ll save you the trouble of searching.

“I was obviously put in the position. They made me box first, and gave me the chance to lead the race, and pull away quite comfortably, and to do what I was doing.

“But they also gave me the opportunity to do so. It was fair to give the position back.

“I don’t want to come across as a guy who’s not fair. Oscar has done a lot for me in the past, and has helped me in many races.“

“He drove a better race than I did. He got a better start. Mine sucked. He deserved it, it was the right thing to do.

“It hurts. Anytime you give away a win, give it to someone…

“I know I shouldn’t have had it in the first place. I think it’s the main point.

“But when you’re leading the race and you have to give it back, it hurts.

“Especially, with the drivers’ championship, every point helps.“

“I know I am a hell of a long way behind Max in the championship. I get that. No-one needs to tell me that.”

“It’s seven points I threw away today - or gave away,” he said. “Not because of the switching of position. But because of a bad start, again.

“That’s where I lost my race today. A tough one.“

i never said piastri didn’t deserve it, i’m just saying that it would make sense if lando happened to take the win for himself. a lot of other drivers would’ve done it. you never know if the extra points lost would’ve cost him the championship if it ever comes to that.

Binotto to lead Audi F1, Seidl exit. That second part surprised me. Why could he not stay on? He seemed to be in control and a stable factor, something quite important in a midterm project like this.

Impressive that McLaren managed to turn a 1-2 into an L.

lando should have been given a clear direct order to switch the places with the permission to race Piastri for the lead after with a requested confirmation of the orders and a recognition of concequences of defying them. Then if he continued to defy, request confirmation of receipt of orders & understanding concequences.

not the soft touch, gaslighting and pleading they went with.

the current team aren’t used to genuinely fighting for wins and championships anymore and so we see these strat mistakes. This is compounded by drivers with now few wins

I feel bad that was how Piastri got his first win in F1.

Ocon signs a multi year deal with Haas.

That is such a weird fit and could Haas not get any better then Ocon? They get Bearman as rookie because of the Ferrari link. They needed an experienced driver for the other seat. I understand Ocon fits the profile but its Ocon.. Plus he is so large they will need to design the car around him..

Funny thing is that Bearman could beat Ocon already this years as Bearman has 6 points and Ocon 3.

After looking at the first couple of practice sessions at Spa, it looks likely that we will see a McLaren winner on Sunday as Max got the 10-place grid penalty. Seven of the ten teams have come into the Belgian Grand Prix with updates to their car including McLaren. Do you guys see any upsets happening this weekend after all these updates?

Max is showing better speed this time around. And with the long straights and DRS I wouldn’t rule him out for a podium or win. Though the latter is less likely but not impossible. I really don’t expect anything else surprising based off practice 1-2.

Lewis fans are the bottom of the barrel, I quite literally don’t understand why they act this way. Sorry to any ferrari fans starting in ‘25. Congrats to Lewis though good drive.

Super gutted for Russel. He drove the wheels off that thing for the win. 1.5kg wasn’t going to make a difference in the result. If they had the normal full length cool down lap like other tracks he would have gathered enough spent rubber back on the tires to be over the weight limit.

Sainz signs with Williams

Good for him. I expect he will keep his connection with Audi warm but they have to show some improvement first.

Williams suddenly with a very strong driver line-up. Its impressive. James Vowles seems in control. He already signed some quality engineers etc. If he signs Newey that would be wild. Drivers are one but they need to improve a lot on the car.

For Sainz this was the best option at the moment.

They had a meeting but they always need time to set thing up, contracts, agreements, whatever, if they want to..

Something that surprises me is how much money Perez brings in at RB. I'm not sure the 33M rumor is true but its safe to say its many millions.

What does Danny Ric bring? Nothing? He is supposed to be the poster boy with his big smile, getting so much marketing attention blabla.. but no personal sponsors he can bring to RB?

It could very well be that because of the amount of money that Perez brings in RB can not create a gap in their budget in the middle of the season. When setting up next years budget yes they could restructure etc but in the middle of a season with budgets so tight that will be difficult. A shame really..

He’s the worst driver in one of the best cars.

Is that really fair? He's been in the top 10 of the driver's championship for a decade, under 3 different teams, and averages around being in the top 6-7.

Definitely not the best driver out there, and his age is showing, but he definitely isn't just some junk driver in a good car either. More Riccardo hate less Checo hate.
