Festival talk

I just went on the website for it and it's $230 not 400. I'm not sure where you got that number.

Seems a lot more reasonable. Was gonna say no way any reg fest is selling $400+ GA tickets in America.

Yeah I've never heard of anything that high. The $230 is tier 2 also so if he would've bought it earlier it probably would've been like $200.

Pretty sure one of the GA tiers for Ultra tickets were $400

Yes it was, sucks we didn't link up. Glad you had a great time though. Still deciding between which was better this or last years

I saw way more music this year and was surrounded by so many awesome people. They were both great in their own ways for sure. Looking forward to next year already. My 2 favorite sets of the weekend were Richie Hawtin and Griz. What about for you?

Griz was absolutely insane, honestly I really enjoyed the dr p set at the boat, porter robinson was pretty lame though underwhelming to say the least. tons of felony drugs arrests compared to last year's I was kinda taken back by the increase in police presence

I was gonna ask about that aspect because I heard last year was pretty mellow.

That's lame. Glad I steered clear. That said, scamp is UC central these days. Brought 12 cartons of cigs though and paid for my ticket and gas money off that.

Last year was extremely mellow I walked in with litterally a carload of shit on a cart the security looked at my mound of shit and just said go. I actually lost a couple packs to security this year, they told me no worries we sell them inside, and by sell they meant 1 gypsy selling shitty marb lights for 15 a pack. I seen litterally to many people to count get super sketched out run into the woods and ditch there shit I contimplated hanging out for a bit to pick up everyone's shit. No trouble finding quality shit, I just hate the vibe increased police presence gives.

How many cigs did you bring? I would have been like fuck you I aint given you none of my smokes bitch. Did you have an unreasonable amount? Are you like 12? Just trying to figure out his grounds for taking them.

That's hilarious. I would have followed them into the woods. People get so weird and scared. Going into festivals that have amnesty bins there's all kinds of shit. People are like oh god they're going to find my joint and I'm going to prison for life! Better throw it!

The 4 felony arrest were prior to the festival beginning/on the way in. Other than that, the police and security were ok. There was no police presence from camping to the festival entrance. The police in the camp deter people from stealing and being grimey so I had no problem with the police. They love looking at all of the girls. Only like 9 arrest total. That's fucking amazing. Quality of stuff sold was testing positive. I guess it depends how you choose to view everything or how security views you because they hardly peaked in my camelback. All in all, best festival I have been to in the last 3 years.

Serious festival depression though!

Next planned festival is going to be FARM Fest in Southern NJ with Papadosio headlining and Jimkata there as well! Also a bunch of other bands and edm/techno. Of course we were considering Camp Bisco but Farm Fest is half the price (exactly half) and more low key. Sounds chill

I went to a fest in jerz once. the last petzooo in 2010. Not many jerz fests but had a good time. Just saw dosio for the first time in 3 or 4 years at scamp and had fun. Jimkatas cool.

Sometimes the smaller fests are the way to go. Generally better vibes. You don't have to walk as far to the music, people are cooler, idk I like smaller fests.

And word that doesn't sound that bad about mysteryland. Above posts made it sound sketchy. That said I was still laughing at the people running into the woods thing because either way that's stupid and unnecessary.

13432449:theabortionator said:
what country? that sounds pretty steep/ Most I ever paid was interlocken a couple years ago I bought my ticket at the gate and it was 330.

Never head of anything going for 400. Even bonnaroo which is custy central is like 350 tops.

Look for some small fests there are a ton all over the place.

I meant that it would be about 400$ for the trip as a whole not just tickets whoops

Or the dummies who swallow everything in one shot. I've heard that said multiple times lol

Just saw this thread for the first time. I really don't go in NSG anymore apparently, because it's over a year old.

I'm going to Beanstalk Festival this weekend. Heading out tomorrow. Love me some camping and live music in the mountains with friends.

I ll have to look again but I'm close to 100% positive there's was more like 14 felony drug arrests and multiple dui

It's a 21+ event I had litterally just those 2 packs on me at the time, you could bring em in camping just not the actual festival. I got into it with the Whoopie Goldberg lookalike security she took them stomped on em then threw them in the trash she said she wanted me to know she wasn't taking them for herself

Yeahh... deffinatly way more presence then last year hahah. ML 2014 police issue statement thanking the event goers, and talking about how little arrests there were, how peaceful of an event blah blah blah. This year police release statement flexing talking about how they are cracking down and if you bring illegal substances you will be caught blah blah blah. Idk just saying the numbers don't lie. I litterally had multiple family members calling because the news was making a huge deal about how massive the drug busts were and how many. I lost a couple packs a smokes nothing to serious hahah I wasn't personally harassed by the cops its just my observation, and I guess the observation of the local community which I happen to be apart off

I should have made one forever ago but I usually just made fest specific threads. I was gonna go to that but just left CO to hit scamp in IL and just getting back east right now. Should be a blast. Lots of friends going.

That's ridiculous. I would have told her to fuck off and kept walking. I wouldn't have stood for that shit.

All right so me and benedetto change our plans up every other day but this one sounds the best. No longer going to check out FARM Fest (even though it looks sick!) and we're thinking of heading to the Cosmic Alignment Festival of the Arts in Saugerties, NY. The line up is chill af, it is local af and tickets are only 80 beans! Plus that area of the Catskills is so beautiful and hip. Anybody ever hear of this festival? We were searching for a early to mid summer affordable festival and I think we found it!

I feel like you're getting caught up with the hype and media. A lot of the arrest were on the drive in. The cops love to target wooks and kandi kids. Almost everyone is doing some sort of drug. There will be arrest. Of course they are going to attempt to crack down. 11 arrest last year, 13 or 14 this year. Good on them. A lot of the arrest were driving while intoxicated. Now that's just stupid! But when has the news ever portrayed an event like this in the positive light? I only live 25 minutes from Bethel and have many connections to the area, believe me, I've heard it all and just want to defend Mysteryland because it is so fucking awesome. Its all good, but the cops were definitely there last year. A lot of them have a fucking blast working at ML.

For ML and other festivals, they need that many cops a lot of the times in order to get the town permits. The cops were barely (if at all) busting people in the festival. I heard way more horror stories at moe.down last year. Cops had a police check right off the thruway. Now that is fucked for sure!

It's a "seatbelt check" because it's labor day weekend. They fuck with people sometimes on the memorial days and labor days.

And that's been happening for years anyway. They had a sketchier one right by camp bisco 3 years ago.

And moe.down shouldn't really be mentioned because inside there is pretty much a free for all.

for sure! I just ran into so many grumpy people that had to deal with the fuzz. My neighbors got there and asked me to smoke him up immediately because the cops took their bud.

Catskill Chill is the ultimate festival "free for all" wise. Not one cop even on the drive in. None by the gate. Amazing experience all around. I hope moe. headlines!

Wells hit that was a fun weekend. Kyle Hollingsworth with Kang, 2 sets of Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Juno What and a bunch of frands.

I am thinking of possibly hitting up thursday at mtn jam solo because I do not want to miss those two moe. sets. Has anybody ever hit up a show solo? How did you like the experience. I was also debating on camping solo at a local campground since you can't camp there for only thursday night. Or I may not drink and just smoke and make the hour and 15 minute ride home. Not sure... Anybody have any experience going solo?

Me a friend and zinter are hitting the thursday show so W'ell probably see you. IF not have hit a fuck ton of shows soo. DO IT. Honestly it's nice to go places with people but sometimes it's nice to fly solo honestly. Started doing it out of necessity. Probably 3/4 of the shows I've showed up at I was rolling solo. Not worth missing good music because your friends are lame.

Also if you do camp and end up too fucked up at the jam I can probably give you a ride. That said we'll probably be sporting a full car so thats more or a back up if you end up in a scenario where you're fucked up and not a your tent and don't want to drive.

for sure man! I am about to put in to get off friday in case I decide to wing it. Which I most likely will. I'll be on the rail for sure so I will keep an eye out for ya. One reason I was thinking of not going was to save money for the Cosmic alignment Festival in 3 weeks but I may just say fuck it and do both

$45 is super cheap for a day of a festival that size with those bands though. USually those bands would be playing friday- sunday and 70-80 for a day. Obviously would be more bands as well but I just spent $43 to see moe. in nyc. For $2 more RRE moe. and marco, and maybe other stuff? Idk

But if you go I'll probably run into you. I'll probably be wandering so I can run into people. Maybe make a half assed attempt to get into the campground.

so pumped for Oshega in Montreal.

oshlineup.jpg

so pumped to see Kendrik, Schoolboy, Peking Duk, Chet Faker, Of Monsters and Men, Milky Chance and Nas. Such a good line up

Ugh man if I wasn't working late Thursday I'd be there.

As far as going solo - do it! I've never gone to a festival alone but I think I'd prefer it over a regular show or club. Tons of freedom to do whatever you want. I'm actually thinking of doing Saturday solo if I can find a cheaper ticket than the $100+ after fees

The first catskill chill in 2010 i don't think I knew anyone else there. That's probably a lie but I didn't know many people there and I drove there solo, camped with strangers, and drove back solo.

Had an awesome time, made some good friends.

The first year of the chill was one of the best festivals I've ever been to. It's tough to compare things but it would be near the top of my list I think. If I had skipped that over my friends being lame, I would have missed out huge.

Honestly solo is awesome because you meet new people. A lot of people go to shows in their groups and don't venture out from there. I'm not hating on going with people, just saying that a lot of people don't spend any time meeting new people, they stay in their tribe.

If you go to enough places solo, you end up meeting all these people in the music scene to the point where you can never really be solo, even if you arrived there on your own. That's how I feel now. Even in Arizona I was running into people I know at shows. All these people were strangers to me. None of my friends from the real world back in the day are going to shows with me, I don't even really hang out with any of them any more actually. All the people at these places I call my friends are random strangers that I ran into and probably struck up a conversation about total nonsense with.

It seems like just in the talking to a couple people at show isn't going to do much in the long run but if you do that a few times It's pretty crazy the long lasting friendships that can spawn.

I suck at sticking to the point and typing decent english so I hope that wasn't too horrible and was semi decipherable. Just wanted to say go rage music, solo or with people, and talk to the people around you.

HAve fun

fuck ya man! I am going to do it! I am going to book a campsite that is 4.5 miles away on state land. Only 16 beans for the night. I know no cell service at the campsite so I am going to preorder a taxi if possible. I cannot wait! I saw a video last night when Marco Benevento sat in with moe. and it was awesome. Hoping for some sit ins. See ya there

So, I went to book the local campsite near hunter mtn and they have a 2-night minimum. I went to book wednesday night too for the hell of it but wednesdays are "walk-up early". And friday is reserved. So, I need to arrive at the campsite thursday and hope one of the remaining spots are still open. If not I gotta either not drink so much and drive home or sleep in my car for a few after the show. I would attempt to sneak into the campground but I am not sure what it will look like this year. Also I would have to carry my tent around. I just hope the campground has a spot for me. The other campgrounds are way out of taxi range. Still gonna wing it

If you go check out moe.

Cake is great if the singer isn't totally shit face. I might show up down there.

It's weird, I didn't hit any fests last year cause I was gone and now I feel kind of un motivated to hit fests this year. I did scamp, I'm gonna hit one day of mtn jam, chill is 100% and maybe another one or two but keeping it pretty mellow this summer.

moe. was really good at Dear Jerry! and I really like Cake. always down for SOJA too. there's a lot of good bands but I feel like the line up is sort of lacking for the price of the tix

Yeah, it's not bad but nothing crazy. Personally not a big primus fan although I've seen them a few times.

We'll see what happens. Jealous of the dear jerry action. I wanted to go but didn't make it back east till a couple weeks after. Lineup was stacked. Super bummer that greenksy and RRE got axed and didn't get to play. They both crush it and that's a huge bummer to show up to play something like that and get told you're kicked. Pretty lame but the show was probably great

How was Dear Jerry?

Hitting Day 1 of Mtn Jam with Abortionator Thursday

it was so awesome, although no one played my favorite song and 2 bands got cut for the sake of time. still an awesome show, everyone said it was just like a dead show

Anyone camping/wanna camp at Mountain Jam? Might be able to get a cheap 3 day + car camping pass but none of my friends wanna join

I know I talked about going solo being fun haha and I'm sure I could hang with neighbors but 3 days alone might be different

thinking of pemberton or squamish but i'm not 19 and I don't know what work's going to be like then so I dunno.

center of gravity is in my hometown so I'll probably get belligerently drunk and go listen to some wicked sick edm on the beach

Just got the word from a homie today about plans for Camp Bisco so I'm hoping that pans out as planned! Then definitely hitting up summerdance at nelsons ledges at the beginning of september.

MOUNT STERLING, KY—Declaring the event a rousing success so far, organizers confirmed more than 45,000 people turned out Wednesday for the first annual Cavalcade Folk and Roots Festival, a four-day gathering that consists solely of a big empty field to do drugs in.

Held on a farm in the foothills of eastern Kentucky, the festival, which continues through Friday and features no live performances of any kind, reportedly offers “something for every type of music lover,” specifically a fenced-off, 300-acre pasture in which to consume a broad array of mind-altering substances.

“We thought it’d be awesome to host a festival that would attract people from all over the country who just want to kick back and ingest narcotics for 96 hours straight,” festival organizer Randy Felder said of the event that takes place on a barren expanse of land with no stages, sound equipment, lighting, art, or vendors. “Cavalcade is all about creating a venue where live music fans can come together, hang out, and do what they love most. Whether you want to toke up, huff, or take a few hits of E, we’ve got you covered.”

“And you couldn’t ask for a better spot,” Felder added. “I mean, it rained pretty hard yesterday, but people didn’t let it bring them down. A lot of them didn’t even seem to notice.”

“I always worry I’ll miss out on something at big festivals like this, because there’s never enough time to do all the drugs.”

Officials reported that while the festival grounds contain no tents or any other form of shelter against the elements, ticket holders nonetheless came out in droves to the vast, otherwise deserted meadow to enjoy a number of big-name drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, and heroin, as well as a wide variety of less well-known substances and up-and-coming hallucinogens such as salvia, ayahuasca, ketamine, and several dozen improvised inhalants.

While most attendees purchased all-inclusive four-day badges for $150, organizers told reporters they also sold $60 day passes to individuals whose schedules or budgets might not allow them to stay fucked up all weekend.

“The way I figure, you gotta stay all four days, especially if you’re dropping a bunch of acid,” said Adam Steely, 24, who road-tripped 14 hours to Cavalcade with several friends whose names and whereabouts he could not recall. “It’s totally worth the price of admission. Things were kind of slow when we first got here—mostly just weed and some people doing whip-its—but things really got cranking once the Molly hit. I heard they’ve got Oxy over by the south entrance, so I’m definitely gonna check that out later.”

“I always worry I’ll miss out on something at big festivals like this, because there’s never enough time to do all the drugs,” Steely continued. “I crashed early last night, and I’m still kicking myself for not being there when the nitrous tanks came out.”

According to Cavalcade organizers, with the support of corporate partners like Vitaminwater, Uber, and Belvedere Vodka, they’re able to offer a comprehensive festival experience, including a roped-off VIP section in the northwest corner of the field where festivalgoers who purchased $250 premium passes can sit in the shade if their heart rate gets too high or help themselves to complimentary vials of Narcan if they’re actively overdosing.

“Everyone says Flakka is going to be the highlight of the festival, so I’m getting pretty pumped for that,” said attendee Meghan Young, 26, standing among a large group of festivalgoers who were dancing, whooping, and bobbing their heads on the east side of the grounds. “Everything’s been great so far. I met these really chill guys from Austin, and we all just sat around and stared at this tree stump for, like, hours and hours. It was the most amazing experience. Plus, I’ve seen some really great musicians today.”

“I still can’t believe Lil Wayne is here,” she added. “He’s been at it for almost 12 hours straight.”
