Does it matter if God exists?

Im a christian so bring the hate.... I believe in God Because it is impossible for me to believe that the big bang happened. And no im not an uneducated 14 year old. I have done my research, and understand it to much more of an extent than most of you. If you understand how unbelievably complicated the body is I don't see why its harder to believe a God Created the world rather than a compressed mass of elements. And thats why its still a theory. And as to why bad shit happens it goes back to Adam and Eve, good and evil. God doesn't control the world. Which seems pretty obvious to me. So your question as to why bad things happen is retarded. Greed and power rule some people. God Cant just stop it. His goal is not to make it obvious he exists, it is to see if your faith is strong enough to carry you through. As far as natural disasters go its just a part of life. as the world grows old continents shift causing earthquakes, pretty basic. The world has pain and suffering. If everything was perfect then wouldn't everyone believe in this God? If it was perfect then the Big bang wouldn't be logical, right? how could the world just fall into place perfectly? no storms, avalanches, fires. and Note I say LOGICAL, not necessarily truth. But all of these disasters help the world go on. The earth wouldn't work without them all. Fires allow trees to burn. trees that had shaded ground cover causing them to die causing the animals that eat them to die. Its the cycle of the world. I worship God because I understand that there are fundamental wrong doings and evils in this world, many of which I am guilty of committing. God is my way to free myself of those and allow me to be a better person.

On another note, Christianity can be complete bullshit. I don't judge anyone who is not a Christian nor do i force my beliefs on anyone, however when YOU start this battle and infuriate me I see no reason not to express my views. Who cares what I think? Why would you try to start this battle on a site full of younger kids who may be swayed by your opinions? At best what youre doing is causing them to give up on God and live a less godly life and at worst you are taking away their eternal salvation. And that pisses me off. Im not a bible scholar, im not a perfect person and I don't want to force my religion on any of you but this is stupid. God is real to me, he has been apparent in my life for a long time. Say what you want and Ill do my best to give you a rebuttle. you will not change my mind.

If you believe in god and he exists, you go to heaven (infinity)

If you don't believe in god and he exists, you go to hell (negative infinity)

If you believe and he doesn't exist, you have wasted time (minus 1)

If you don't believe and he doesn't exist, you have not wasted time (plus 1)

Science has proven the existence of god and our spirituality, technology and humanity are going to start tying into each other more and more as we progress as a species as long as we don't kill the planet first.

I am merely presenting inferences to stimulate the discussion. Remember? The last word in the OP was "Discuss." In fact, I'd say you're the biased and ignorant one if you're not willing to discuss a topic just because it is contradictory to what you believe. In order to be truly bias or ignorant free you must examine both sides of the topic. Get this: Atheism, like everything else in this world, is not perfect. Instead of ignoring the imperfections, why don't you examine and discuss them in a rational matter? Next time when someone disagrees with you, instead of getting all emotional and pointing fingers, why don't you try to create a semi-logical argument to disprove them.
 
I believe the reason the human body is so developed and so advanced, along with many other systems on this planet is simply the concept of geological time. Nobody can get their heads around that... billions of years... the world was not created 10,000 yrs ago... it's is billions of years old.

As Dawkins once said - if you have an infinitie amount number of monkeys, and infinite number of typewriters and and infinite amount of time, you would eventually get the complete works of shakespeare...

Time is what created everything as it is today.... it's proven, it's seen in viruses today, thousands of life cycles in an hr, mutations that cause resistance to our drugs within weeks.... what you are witnessing there is evolution on super speed...

If I was to use your great arguing skills I could claim that because we have no disproved the tooth fairy and unicorns they must therefore exist or be assumed to exist
 
You're not addressing my point. You can cite examples of religious violence all day and still not even come close to what I'm talking about. My point is that the few "Atheistic" and "Anti-theistic" societies to ever come around have been extremely violent.

For example: Anti-theistic members of the Paris Commune killed hundreds of thousands of their countrymen, and then organized an Army which conquered half of Europe in the Napoleonic Wars.
Death tolls from the Atheistic communist government of the USSR are upwards of 50 million last time I checked.
The Holocaust was about racial rather than religious preference. Atheistic Nazi Germany hated the Jews as a race, not as a religion.

if your really 99% athiest, why do you care? god would be in theory responsible for every good thing that happens in the world too, so its really a perspective thing. people that believe in god see god in everything around them, and so he seems beautiful and powerful and terrible and righteous all at the same time. if you see god in everything, of course your gonna feel the need to worship him.
people that dont believe dont see the logic in god (because it is an illogical idea), and if thats how you feel then by all means dont bother worshipping. honestly to me neither side seems more ridiculous and i really wish people could stop having these religious arguments. religion is a personal belief, keep it that way. nobody else wants to hear why you believe differently than they do.

It's retards like you that ruin the reputation of atheists. I make the logical claim that atheistic and anti-theistic nations are more violent. I never say anything about atheists themselves, religious people, or God for that matter. I'm debating at a level that you don't comprehend because you are so emotionally charged on the subject that you automatically label anyone who disagrees with you as someone who believes in God and is therefore illogical. You really need to detach yourself emotionally if you ever want to debate intelligently.
 
no he didn't cause them, but they were fighting over it. They believed they would be the master race if they were to conquer the "holy lands" which would give them god's approval. I'd say thats a problem that religion created

The Nazi "religion" was unlike any seen on earth before. It was one of ultimate race and state worship. A few prominent Nazis believed in strange religious concepts but overall, Nazi policy was one of permanent devotion to the state and the destruction of the inferior races.

1. I'd like to see all this research and knowledge that you claim to have more of than most people here.

2. You said just because the body is more complex than you can wrap your head around, you'd just rather believe that a god did it, rather than a concept of evolution? That's one of the the more stupid thing's i've ever heard here.

3. Evolution is widely regarded as a scientific fact, it CAN be proved (see h8ch's post on viruses and their mutations). Why everyone gets their panties in a bunch over it and disregard it saying it's a "theory" is beyond me. I'll throw in the cliche line "gravity is also a theory" remark here for safe measures.
 
You guys just tickle me pink. The claim is logical until proved otherwise which you have thus far been unable to do. I never say anything about the individual atheist being more violent, I make the claim that atheist and anti-theist governments are more violent. I never accuse you of being atheist, but that doesn't mean you are not emotionally charged on the issue. The reason I accuse you of being emotional is because your arguments bear the hallmarks of someone jumping to conclusions based on emotional attachment.
 
very true. The bible does have good intentions to it as well; the stories and lessons in it teach people how to be good citizens and install morals into their lives.
