Car guys, what should I get

Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with the street appearance package. Super reliable, easiest car to work on, will never die, and a fun v8 rwd setup. Also insanely practical. Can fit multiple pairs of skis in the trunk and at least 4 bodies if you want.

Already did the whole cop car thing, I have a 2012 Tahoe ssv that I’m selling as soon as I drive back to philly.

Nice dude! For me the crown vic is perfect since I don’t need a whole suv and it can spin it’s wheels and have a fun time without body roll for super cheap haha.

But if you do go the m3 route, my aunt has an e93 that’s insanely fun to drive. Also hasn’t had many problems for her so far, but being a bmw with a 8500 rpm redline I‘m guessing it’ll become a money pit in a few years

Also to whoever recommended a Ford focus. LOL ????????

I was recommending a Focus ST, which compares to the Golf GTI, however the ST is less friendly for daily driving, however is more fun and fast. The GTI has a nicer interior but is not as fast and agressive. There is a big difference between a normal Focus and the Focus ST. Same thing goes for the Fiesta ST. Its like the Focus ST, but more compact.

Yeah I agree with you about that part. I just thought if OP was interested in hot hatches that he might want to consider those if he didnt know about them already. Mabe OP wanted something like that.

Yea very true ! I think the Fiesta ST is cool as fuck tho

Heard they were banned from SCCA events for their propensity to roll. I’ve driven a friends focus ST, it’s very fun but the gti is much more well sorted.

MK7 GTI has my vote. If you really want a fast beemer without having to finance the fuck out of an M3, one option would be to buy a 5 series or even a 3 series and do a few bolt-ons along with a tune and you'd be making some pretty decent a reliable horsepower/torque numbers

Have you thought about a Subie 2.5RS? My dad had a 2 door manual from 2001 and loved it. Sold it to buy an sti in 2008 and he still misses it.

I’ll never own a Subaru. I’ve seen too many with too many problems from just 2 summers working in shops and dealing with my buddies cars. Only boxer cars I’d ever want to own are Porsche’s or a 512bbi

Well bro I can’t help that but my dad has owned Subies since the 90s and never had a problem with one. Ever. He took decent care and wasn’t reckless but still. I hope whatever you end up with makes you smile

I'm a big fan of Audi, have owned two in the last 10 years, currently have an older a4 6 speed, quite a bit of work done to it, just waiting for the turbo to go so I can go bigger, already have the supports parts just need to upgrade fueling. If I were to get a newer vehicle, it would be a b8.5 s4, the last I believe they are making in a manual, ton of fun to drive, and with a tune can be super quick, and also great for a ski vehicle. Save the manuals!

I got super lucky and broncos tripled in value 2 years after I got mine so I have like 17k ish to spend. And yeah I know buying a car isn’t a great idea but I love cars almost as much as I love skiing and since I’m moving to a place with shitty skiing might as well get something fun.

What year is your bronco. I've been looking to find a restoration Project and have wanted to find a 68-72 Bronco

A stick and fast as fuck? Dodge demon. Probably hold it's value and could have a blast in the icy parking lot at the resort.

yeah good luck paying 114 k for the base model

also not great for skiing

What is this job you do where you have to drive clients around? If you have to drive clients definitely not a WRX but they hold value well.

Cadillac ATS RWD version came in a manual.. CTSV would obviously be sick too. I love my G37 shit MPG but fun car to mod. But probably not fit the bill for shuttling clients.

The Audi A3 i think it was recently came in manual until 2018. Not fast but u could mod and I personally think having the last manual offered by a brand may not be a bad investment long term. Disclaimer-i hate Audis. I also hate BMW’s but they’re at least fun enough to drive to make their shit reliability halfway worth it

If you want a payment get a Tesla. Never experienced such immediate knock you back in your seat acceleration in a car before and I've been in some powerful cars. You can get it in AWD too so I bet it's great for skiing. One of my coworker and a band mate both have the 3 and I've heard zero complaints. It's new and fancy enough a lot of people are stoked to go for a ride.

Never. Hate the looks and it’s built like shit. Driven a model S and it’s pretty boring around town.

i heard the battery is terrible in the cold too

To each his own. My coworkers roommate bought a Vet and then bought a new Vet and he still gets smoked by the Tesla 3. Vet guy thinks he's some sort of super skilled drag driver too and maybe he is but with direct drive and no shifting it is no contest. Performance package on the 3 is like a full second faster to 60 than an M3.

I have not heard of any issues with the batteries in the cold. Ski areas have charging stations now and it looks like it is always available but you should be able to make it there and home with plenty of charge to spare.

Personally I think a Sienna would be a nicer car if I had to drive clients around and also wanted a ton of room for skiing. Especially if I had older clients that don't like to sit down low. Still fast enough to get a ticket too.

Straight line performance on its own doesn’t make a car fun. A Miata is one of the most fun cars I’ve ever driven and it’s incredibly slow.

Miatas are fun but they get old real fast if you don’t live somewhere curvy or do lots of track/auto cross

You can fit like 4 full sized adults in the passenger seat. Nobody will even try that in a normal sized car.

Ah bud, I think you would find yourself quite satisfied with a nice ‘19 Bugatti.

Or you could go with the standard Lamborghini. But that’s so mainstream.

I drive a B8 Audi A4 Avant. I gotta say I'm a pretty big fan of the Torsen awd on Audi/VW's longitudinal engine cars (A4/S4/A6/7/8), because it can send even power to the front and rear wheels. The haldex system used on the TT/A3/S3/Golf R/Alltrack will have a haldex 4wd system that sends power between the front and rear, switching power from axle to axle once it detects more than 1/7th wheelspin difference. This means that it will shift from sending power back and forth, which may not be ideal for deep snow conditions, or if you get something with more power, it the car will be a lot easier to handle. The haldex system also has a pretty common failure point, being the clutch system to transfer power, which also needs to be serviced, where the torsen system does not. This is not to say the Haldex system is worse, because on high traction surfaces, it will have better fuel economy because it can send power directly to the front wheels.

Another thing to consider is that if you get a 2.0T Audi/VW motor (the EA888), make sure it either has the revised timing chain tensioner, or is like 2013 or newer. There are ways to tell through the timing chain cover without taking too much apart, but you should definitely check the vin to see if it has a defective engine, and if so, make sure there is paperwork/receipts to prove the new tensioner was purchased. Other than that issue with the 2.0T engines is carbon build up, so I would recommend that you get a catch can, especially if you're gonna tine it.

This. I bought a 2007 Audi A4 Convertible and it is a super super fun car for around 4-5 grand. The interior is very nice, the handling is fantastic, bitches love convertibles, and it's decently quick with 200HP. Another 3 grand in tunes can bring the car up to 400 HP, which makes the thing an AWD turbo missile. Just be careful to not blow the engine up ;)

depreciation and maintenance on a Beemer or mere will kill u if u don't have money out the ass. jeep trail hawks are sick, maybe look into teslas? and golf r>focus rs all day

Almost all M models pre 2008 are currently appreciating actually.

ive owned a 05 wrx for about a year now, love the car but if you're not mechanically inclined i would never own one. im constantly working on it and am super meticulous with it. they have a lot of problems and if you don't do regular maintanence on them they'll go on you. ive had a good amount of problems with mine. buts its not stock anymore and also the back seat is pretty much non existent if you're over 6 foot

so people saying wrx or sti i wouldnt recomend getting one unless you dont mind working on it yourself or you'll be throwing money at a mechanic

as of now yes, but i don't think anyone will want anything to do with a 2006 bmw m3 w 200k in a few years. especially multiple owners and hooned by some college kid for a few years. low milage examples appreciate, I don't know if daily driven m3s will. when it comes time to sell maybe hit up hoovies garage or tavarnish, thats probably your best bet.

I’m not some dickhead that’s gonna turn a clean car into a hooptie in 3 years. There’s a plenty of higher mileage e46 m3s going for reasonable prices now. I don’t really see them going anywhere but up as BMW continues to produce soulless turds like the new f8x.

Gti the perfect "fast" car................ for your girlfriend ?

Fuck German whips. With all that money, id cop the best condition STI (not wrx) i could find and upgrade it to be more reliable than fast. Speeding is overrated. 300 plus horses is plenty. Any serious modifactions to increase power usually always ends in tragedy, wether its you or your engine exploding ... or both

I have a track car for actually going fast. Just want something quick and nimble for every day. STIs blow up way too much, I don’t feel like building a motor in a new car just to make it reliable. Gtis are competitively priced with clean STIs as are M3s and tons of other much nicer cars.
