Booing Tanner... wtf

the only thing dumont had over tanner was airtime.

tanner had more technical tricks, rightside spins, more style, and fluidity.

to everyone who thinks dumont should've won, FUCK YOUR SHIT BITCH.

(haha i'm actually arguing about x-games pipe)

tanner won hands down. stomped everything with steeze. dumonts run was sick but not as clean. he went big but i thought tanner went JUST AS big as him with better tricks and more hits.

and last. jossi got robbed. his run was soo baller.

i dont think yey were booing tanner i think they were aimed at the judges much like those snowballs goodjob guys!

Um so basically I find it funny first of allt that people think that Tanner was being a dick to Dumont because I am pretty sure he was praising him for being dope and saying it was all about the rightside spinning.  Secondly I Pappasteeze is very right its like watchign from a lift two gusy go off a jump one does a bf when does a steezy spin.  The general person would be like OH SHIT HE WENT UPSIDEOWN.  Same thing applied to Tanner and Dumonts run.  I feel bad for Tanner because he deserved and he has done so much for the sport yet people treat him like crap.  Seriously think about all he has done for the sport and how all you kids just rip on him.  I feel bad for him and I hope he doenst talke the booing and shit too seriously because it was really gay.  And for all you saying it was rigged and that Dumont should have won that is your personal preference but halfpipe comps are not judged like that. End of story

stop hating people damn, their better than all of you

i mean seriosuly their both amazing skiers,

i was wanting simon to win but

thall- 7 hits tweaked grabs

simons- was hucking shit and 5 hits

their both really good they both deserve first

i know simon had hugeee amplitude but it was close

stop hating- thall 7 gold medals be proud damn, none of you will do it so i mean come on ? give him some respect thats amazing, breaking a new record too ? jeez

huge respect to both of them from me

umm tanner didnt grab his 12 and simon did

and simon did do back to back 7's...so yea he did do it switch....i could see that simon was sooooooo pissed when tanner was giving him advice....i think simons gonna train harder than ever and spin both ways and take the gold next year....look for 24'+ hits by dumont too if it doesn't snow again

please keep in mind there are plently of polite, respectful people in the Us who unfortunately are all too often over shadowed and misrepresented by the louder, less considerate ones. Also, to all those above who honestly can't see why tanner won this competition, take a step back, wait a couple years, and then watch the runs again. As stated above many times, Tanners run was superior in all aspects except height. If you want a contest based on height watch moto X step up or pole vaulting.

Yea, Dumont had amplitude and stuff, but didn't really switch up his run too much from last year, and had less hits and didn't vary too much. Booing Tanner was shit, It reflects bad on the sport too, and if they had given Simon the gold, It would have just been a repeat of last year where the one who should have one didn't. I was kind of hoping Pete would take this one though, and he would have if it weren't for the bail on his last run, he seems like a good guy to win it: a good skier, and keeps it loose.

that 21 ft. nine was pencil? it had better style than most of the 6 ft. nines everyone else was throwing. That was the sickest trick ever thrown in the pipe.

true I liked simons run better too be honest but i guess tanner was a harder run so whatever

JOSSI Got fucked over

yeah i felt really bad for tanner because they were booing so loud it was redicoulous

tanners mom is a fucking attention whore like no other.

if anyone was ripped off it was definently jossi wells. his run was almost exact to tanner's and he got 17 points less?! that was fucked up. Even though simon threw the best 900 ever, tanner's was better, he threw both ways, yada yada. i liked simon's better though, his 12s finally look good with the tail grab.

True. Simons hit was the only hit that I watched that made me go "HOLY SHIT!" But I totally understand that while it was a crowd please. I remember Tanners run as showing a ton more variety and skill.

a bit of a dick move IMO. simon probably couldnt have been more stressed. the last thing he needed was to be given advice. It only fuels the the misconception by the public that tanner is the best skier in the world.

here's my response after soaking in everything and replaying the runs in my mind:

Tanner:

Great guy, great run, and he spun both ways. He also made the most out of the pipe and got seven hits out of it. However although i love his back to back opposite 9's i dont think his 12 was good at all. People keep giving dumont shit saying hes hucking his twelves around with no style. But in reality tanner was the one hucking his ass off to get the twelve around. But besides this the run he had was perfect... end of story. The ally-oop flat 3 to cab 7 was soo dope i think i jizzed a bit when i saw it. He grabbed the fuck out of everything except his 12. In the end, after seriously thinking about it... he deserved the first place medal. Oh and i thought it was really impressive that he won especially after skiing for a month in the back country. Also i applaud him for his rare maturity and sportsmanship... last year he claimed the fuck out of his run when this year he didnt claim at all but instead gave some words of encouragement to Dumont which i thought was real cool of him.

Dumont:

Wow, the kid has the most determination i have ever seen. He didnt not spin both ways which definitley hurt him in the long run. He also had 2 less hits then Tanner which could have helped his score a lot as well. However, i think sacrificing two hits for a first hit over twenty feet out and the rest of his hits over 15 feet out was worth it. When he threw that first nine with that real steezed tailgrab my draw hit the floor. I mean honestly, who on NS can say that they werent mesmerized by how huge and dope the 9 was? and to defend dumont against all the ignorant, stupid and complete hypocrites who said that simon is all spin to win with no style, you fucktards are wrong. He was the only person to throw his 12 with a flawless crossed tail grab and stomp the fuck out of it. I'm pretty sure tanner was the one hucking his meat and having no style or grab whatsoever except for maybe a touch on the back tail. Simon's 2nd hit also blew my mind, alley-oop 9 tail a good 17 feet out. There was nobody else going that high throughout their entire run. Also at the bottom, threw a 7 sooo steezed out and then a switch 7 with a poked nose. I'm pretty sure that is not "spin to win" or whatever you cocksuckers are calling it. After that run, i hoped he would get gold, but i thought about it and i had a feeling that the judges were gunna give it to tanner due the fact he had 7 hits. In the end, after thinking, he deserved silver medal.

On a side note id like to congratulate Colby West for absolutely killing it in the pipe tonight.

NS, people need to stop hating on the riders, they are out there to represent us and our sport in a positive way. You guys are all simply saying thank you to those guys out there training and busting their ass out there for us and our sport by saying that they suck, or shouldnt have won, or has no style. You people are all a bunch of fucking hypocrites, i mean who are you to say who should've won and who has no style? Oh, that's right, none of you. So lets all stop, and reflect on the best pipe comp we have ever seen and stop the 4th grade bullshit. Props to everyone who competed tonight and id like to thank all the athletes for busting their ass and putting on a great show for the world and representing our sport in a positive way.

Peace.

I couldn't agree more. I dislike Tanner for a lot of reasons... but tonight I think he legit won. His run was perfect. Simon's run was unreal but he only spun left the whole way down and tanner spun both ways. Last year Simon had it clearly over Tanner and the judges fucked up.. this year I think they made the right call. I wanted Simon to win more than anything... but Tanner stepped it up tonight. He even spoke intelligently and in complete English sentences.

On a side note... I don't care how important Mike Douglas was to this sport... I hate listening to him announce. He also needs to get off Tanners Dick.

Congrats Tanner.

Simon... better luck next time... learn to spin the other way... Your still my hero for doing a 9 21 feet out.

Thats my piece.

i dont think anyone should have gotten booed. yea hall 3 peated and did once again burn all competition except for dumont. it was defititely fun to watch and i cant wait till the big air and slope style!!!

this is getting ridiculous and out of hand ive seen so many damn threads getting deleted with almost all the same titles, its over and done with. stop hating on your own people and the skiing communtiny they both threw down, and every knows it. their amazing skiers... better than all you and once i see you guys that are hating on the xgames ill show you respect just shut the help up. its not like a life threathing judging noone died, noone got hurt its a medal.. their there to have fun and improve the sport so every stop hating

agree?

tanners run was more technical and he had more hits than dumont, dumonts run was just plain fucking huge, if he had thrown in a few unnatty spins, he probs would've won, 21 feet, oh my god

Simon should have won. It is way better to see 5 huge hits than seven smaller ones. Also, Simon had more style with his 9's and the 12 was way better than tanners. Yes, Simon may have only went one way, but the amplitude is the biggest factor. On top of this because of all the snow it made it that much harder to get that high out of the pipe. Making it that much of a bigger deal.

SIMON BEST PIPE SKIER EVER!

I'm sorry, but your wrong. Tanner got two more hits than Simon did, went nearly as big, and threw down way more technical tricks. Honestly, Simon's tricks weren't even stylish, they were just big and hucked. Tanner deserved to win, i don't care how much anyone hates him, he can fucking ski.

yes, he was telling him what he did wrong BUT...

After Simons run they showed a shot of tanner getting ready to go and he had the "Oh shitttt...," look on his face. thats before they judged. after he took his fun run down he wasnt super excited when he was being interviewed, and he sounded like he was about to just hand dumont his gold.

your forgetting that its judged overall. sure he had amplitude but his tricks were less tech and only spun one way. so even tho he went huge since it wasnt as tech. and he didnt throw any unnatty spins he didnt do as well as tanner.

Get a clue man, he is...

Seven hits to Simons five.

Right side AND left side spins. Simon spun to his right once, if that.

Dropped in on OPP side of pretty much everyone else, including Simon.

Sure, Simon might have grabbed some of his tricks, but they were the same. Tail grabs that we've seen from him a million other times. Typical first hit five, etc... At least he didn't bust out that TotAllY Sikc! truck driver...

Tanner grabbed with all of his tricks, with different variations, Japan, high mute, tweaked etc...

And the last reason, Dumont is a bitch because he is from MAINE. 406 represent mother fuckers.

i feel like simons run has been consitantly almost the same with a few changed but nothing dramatic minus the 1260 i think tanner changed his run almost completely from last year tanner, plus if simon jumped in front of him i believe he wud have pulled out something else new. tanner deserved it and thats bull shit with the booing speechless about that shit

or the truth?

tanner's run was 1000000x more tech than simon's.

yeah, amplitude is awesome, but simon's run just wasn't tech enough. the end.

Ya Tanner is the man. He deserved to win with the tricks he was throwing. It just goes to show you that style CAN win over spin to win.

Im from maine and I was definitely cheering for Simon, and I think last year Simon got robbed, and I think the year before was a fucking joke that Tanner won (the year dumonts back hurt), but this year Tanner was just flawless. Everyone else in the pipe looked amatuer to him, and I hate to say it but if you disagree than you didn't watch it or you simply just don't know the technicalities. I would definitely have prefered a little more amp out of Tanner but the snow was shitty. Even Dumont didnt get out as much as he usually does. I think Dumont got robbed two years in a row, and Tanner should be getting his first Gold in awhile tonight. Tanner killed it, end of story.

How Tanner conducts himself is another story. It's embarassing as a skier who says nothing but praise about the sport and annoys all my roommates to death with movies and posters and tv and shit, and then they all see tanner on tv and get bad images. But I guess this is for a different thread, and bottom line is the guy is just fuckin ill and he killed it.

Congrats on the run Tanner, the training clearly paid off.

I think Tanner won fair and square but I think that Andreas had solid runs but didnt get shit for it. If he went higher He would beat Tanner in my opinion cause he's just as tech if not more and looks smoother too.

i know where you're coming from, as i know where everyone else is coming from when you say "tanner spun both ways", but wasn't it only 1 of his 7 hits that were spun to the right? i dont know, the argument just doesn't seem legitimate to me. just for the record im indifferent about who should have won, both of them threw down and it was super fun to watch. i just think that the whole idea of tanner beating simon b/c tanner spun ONE rightside trick is kind of ridiculous.
