All of our snowbird family is staying in Tampa for 4th of July weekend so my wife surprised me with a BigSnow summer pass and booked a hotel for the weekend.
It's my birthday weekend and I can't think of a better way to turn 40 than hiking a tube in a warehouse in New Jersey.

I miss a lot of the homies that kind of grew out of skiing due to career and family taking priority. Hopefully when the kids get older they get back into it.

I'm not quite 30, but I've owned a house in the suburbs for a couple years, so I definitely feel like a 30 year-old. Does anybody else here miss the simplicity of renting? Everything in my house seems to be breaking this year and I'm envious of my friends that still rent and just don't have to deal with this stuff themselves. I'd rather spend my evenings being active or social rather than trying to fix a HVAC board/sprinkler system/pool filter.
My house is way bigger than i need but that comes with more stuff to maintain. There's an endless list of things that i should be working on, so i feel guilty "wasting" my time playing videogames or hanging out at a brewery, etc. I know it's a good investment so I'll definitely keep my house, but I'm starting to think about handing it off to a property manager, renting it out, and moving to an apartment in the city.

Yes, I'm well aware of how lucky i was to buy a house in my 20s. That's why i posted here where many other people post about their houses.

Even with higher interest rates your mortgage will be lower than rent. Half of your issues are non-emergency and you could have waited to fix it when you have the time or money. Pools are expensive and always require maintenance, you should have known that going in, sprinklers and garage doors shit the bed often enough. Hell, if you have a 2 bath you could just shut off the water line to your broken toilet, use the other, and wait until you have the funds to fix it. Renting can be a lot worse, I have multiple friends dealing with shit landlords who won't fix issues that are worse than yours.
If you are already living outside of your means in your current house then I suggest you become handy as that is the life you unknowingly signed up for.
