I use a pozidrive screw driver, I understand that there’s a difference. The nuance is secondary to the main point. It’s still a shit design.

You can use an 8mm Allen key if you want.

Anyone know if the Depart will be getting a full release later this year like another ski brands?

Next season Depart will have a more robust marketing campaign with demos more widely available, so to answer your question: Yes

That ain’t no normal attack. Brake retainer similar to cast but can’t see anything on the toe to show it will tour.

Good catch. I’ve always wondered about using a demo binding plate for a Cast-esque toe swap for touring. Seems like an easy way to go provided you know how to reset your own forward pressure.

I guess that's something Lindalh, one of the blister reviewers used to use. I remember there was a brief description on TGR. Demo attacks, CAST-style put on/off touring toes that used same toe rails as attacks, and hand made climbing bails.

Reddit( yeah fucking reddit) said they are confirmed to release around 2026

I think what confuses people is the word tour. If you are going out to tour for a few hours up to ski something cool but not insane yeah you dont want a boot like this it makes no sense. Get a walk mode and enjoy the ease of use.

But if you BC kicker is a 30min skin out of resort then a boot like this makes total sense. You want a no compromise boot for the kicker and short little access skins a boot like this is fine.

People get stuck thinking all touring is 4-5 hours when for a lot of people these days it is 30min or less to get to rad terrain. Think enduro bike vs xc

excuse me for circling back here, but it seems like a majorly missed opportunity to not put tech inserts in the toe of this boot. Especially considering Karl being a poster child for that kind of skiing and I’m guessing getting his boots modded by cast.

Unfortunately its not possible without redesigning the boot. To add a tech insert the mold and tooling needs to be developed for it and back when this tooling was developed some 15-16 years ago adding a tech insert was not even a consideration. So yeah although we would love to add one as would Karl, its simply not possible to do. However you will see all our new shells developed so they can have that capability as its something we do strongly believe should be present in modern ski boots.

Looks like season eqpt may be dropping a new model. Wonder if anyone has any info about this new primer ski?

Its a prototype they've been trying to make to have in rental fleets at evo stores apparently. From my understanding, it won't be a ski you can buy; just used in rental fleets. I've got a set at my store and these pairs were pretty damn soft.

I talked with Jacob Callaghan and he said it was more of a beginner ski. I also hand flexed them and also thought they were really damn soft. I was hoping they would be more like a narrower nexus (not a huge fan of the aero personally), but I don't think they will fit the bill for my quiver.

They made actual product development first time in years outside of just picking new colors on photoshop so someone will pay for that

Anyone else speculating the new Pivot 15s are going to cost more than the current ones do?

Think it uses the demo plate up front to do a cheapo cast.

Correct. I heard they couldn't make a shift-like binding strong enough, so this was the design they went with.

Honestly I dig it. The attack demos are a great demo binding, and lighter than a pivot/cast system. Is it going to ever go public? Or is this just a Jerry rigged thing

I personally think the strive is an all around better binding than the attack. Would be interested to see if another brand like cast makes kits for strive demo setups.
