2011 Lethal Decent

OK, To clarify a few things:

Our outerwear is currently clearing customs at the entry port, we hire a firm to clear customs and they push it through for us. The outerwear will get on a truck once the government clears it through customs. This process is very variable and is greatly out of our control, it will (probably) take 2-7 business days to clear customs. It will then get truck to Colorado, typically a three day transit time. As soon as we receive it, we will start shipping.

There were initial customs hold ups due to a mistake on the vessel numbers that pushed us back from what we were thinking at the beginning of the week, this was all compounded by the much of the usual customs work not taking place ahead of time because of the Thanksgiving holidays. We are doing everything in our power to get the outerwear to Colorado as soon as we can.

Tentative shipping start date (as of 5pm 2/12): 2/10-13.

Please, if you have any questions don't hesitate to email me, just know that we are doing everything that we possibly can!

We greatly appreciate your patience!

Sam

for someone 5'10 who likes baggy, would xl pants work? theres no way im getting XLT (have saga pants with the same inseam and theyre just way too big..) but i cant decide between xl and L.

my jacket goes to the top of my knees if it matters

Haha I knew you would comment with something like this. But youre right and it sucks but at least we know and for me it should be here by christmas

ha, it just kinda pissed me off cause when i orignally ordered they said they would be shipping 2-3rd week in nov. and now 10-13th of dec....

Oh im with you its upsetting. I think i might have gone with the free shipping... causing it to take like a week and a half which is cutting it extremely close to christmas which is bad. Anyone know how to switch shipping?

not stoked right now, I live in Norway so if they start shipping the 10th, i will most likely not get the outerwear before christmas. I suggest discount on the ones who have preordered and do not get it before christmas!

shit happens.... although it seems to be a trend every year with all the smaller outerwear company's, I don't know why they don't just set their dead line for receiving the outerwear like 2 months earlier. So when it gets pushed back a month, its still in the states before winter.

they wanted to make as much off preorders as possible probably.

By doing that they would have to have the preorder cutoff date much earlier.

Thats true, but just cause they have it, doesn't mean they need to ship it. And pre order is less expensive, so if they had a shorter pre-order time. they would probably make more money selling them at full price... who knows.... haha

It is not a coincidence that smaller outerwear companies are often late on their delivery. Imagine you are a factory owner in China and you produce for both The North Face and Lethal Descent. If you have any delays (ie, a skilled labor shortage) and TNF's ship date is in danger of getting moved back, you do whatever you can to keep that from happening. TNF probably makes up a huge amount of your business. But to do this, your other accounts get pushed back. And they get pushed back proportionally to their size. So therefore the smaller your order, the later it has the potential to end being.

This year was also worse because of the skilled labor shortage overseas which delayed things exponentially for us. We are currently working out a way to make up our lateness to our pre-order customers and of course, we always offer full refunds no questions asked.

are you tryin to say that you are pushing the date back even farther. if so, can you refund 1 piece of clothing but keep the other, as in cancelling the jacket and keep the pants.

I am not saying the current dates are changing but if you want a refund (full or partial) please send me an email (Sam-at-lethaldescent.com).

its a littel dissapionting to get your outerwear a little late but you guys gotta realize its not their fault, and especially with ldc being a tiny company they probably get pushed around overseas ahha.

all im hopin for is a ldc die cut ahha, preferably black to come with my outerwear.

I agree things are out of their control currently, but saying it is not their fault is incorrect. They chose to have their gear manufactured overseas, and with this decision the accepted the risks that come with this. They could have done it domestically or in Canada, but I assume they wanted a lower price point or higher profit margin so that chose the overseas option.
I believe LDC is doing a good job communicating their difficulties right now. It almost appears they are taking a page out of the ON3P book. ON3P convinced all the JMO/Vicik pre order folks that it wasn't their fault and the edges were just taking longer. Then when NS threaten to burn down the edge facility in ohio, ON3P looked to be the good guys telling everyone to be nice to the edge guys. They also made themselves look better by working so hard when the edges did finally come in. This is pretty good waiting line management.
The point is: It is LDC's fault, it is now out of their control, their are doing a pretty good job with "waiting line management" by communicating their difficulties. Anything further would probably take them spending, such as sending stickers early, cutting some cash off pre-orders, or whatever. I'd say their one true mess up was sliding the date multiple times. Its one thing to slide it to the right once but multiple times can get tough for customers to swallow. I know I get nailed at work anytime I slide a delivery schedule more than once to our customers.
Keep up the communication LDC....

good answer
its just that when it gets pushed back the buyer feel pretty bad especially when they depend on it coming before a certain date

I've learned to never take dates in the ski industry to seriously, that way, if it does come on time, sweet, if not, that's fine too. Considering my home mountain doesn't open for another week I'm not in too much of a rush, but I can understand the frustration. Either way, I'm stoked for mine to come in.

some people tend to rush because their seasons start well before companies get their shipments in and people dont think ahead and are stuck with an open mountain ready to shred but no outerwear to keep you nice and toasty. i can definetly see how frustrating it can be waiting on outerwear but dont worry once you guys get your stuff im sure you will all be happy with it.

i agree with everyones input. and i think we should make a thread so once we get our outerwear we can post pics of which suits jackets or pants we got, because we all will be super stoked and it will give LDC some gratitude.

I love how everyone pretends that if they don't get their new outerwear that they can't go skiing...as if anyone with an NS account, has awareness that LDC exists, doesn't have a fucking jacket and pants.
The truth is that the whiny little children who bitch about their shit being late are just silly little fashion whores who equate looking cool or "steezy" with having fun while skiing. It's absolutely gross and pathetic.
Newsflash: LDC clothing will not make you a better skier, or cause you to have more fun. Over the last 5 years, EVERY SINGLE small outerwear manufacturer has had significant issues with customs, production, sizing, shipping, and responding to emails and inquiries...no one has any excuse if they pre-ordered gear and it's winter before it arrives. This will pretty much always be the case. So, either just shut the fuck up and be patient, or stop pre-ordering all the newest shit year in year out and buy local, or last year's stuff.

i want mine cause i sold my jacket in like october cause i thought i was goin to have my stuff by december at least...... so ya.

same, i sold all of my gear, so i need my outerwear. i have skied in jeans and jiberish for the past weekends and im not complaining but i need my outerwear asap or i cant ski its getting colder. LDC is doing everything in their power and i respect that, so im not complaining just wanting
