07/08 Ski Picture Thread

i was about to say, how the fuck do you know all this, then i read your name.

care to spill the beans on any ski build differences?

Taylor Morris - The reason the Gun remain composite is because Mike Douglas and Mark Abma requested it to remain that way.

Flimsy - ski the ski dude. You are so wrong.

It's the reference ski here in Whistler.

And I've spoken to Douglas about the wood vs composite core on the Gun and he told me that they want to keep it composite as it's lighter and that they have found that composite for that ski to be way more nimble.

Please try the ski. It's nothing near anything flimsy.

Also many of you have asked what the deal is with the spk's.

White/Brown - Pro model (they are team issued) they are not a specific guy's pro model, they are simply the 1080 team issue. This one has Custom Fit Pro (race wrap liner) and 95 flex and 10 degre's more upright

SPK Kaos (white like this year) - new for next year is a custom fit liner and 95 flex (was 85 this year). And 10degres more upright.

SPK Krystal (Women's version of the Kaos)

SPK Kreation (blue model) lower priced spk for Flyer level customer.

CAnt believe they gave pollard another ski to construct, that is sick, his grafix were better last year I think. I loved the artwork he has on the 07's. these look like many of the others but wider.

Oh and I think solomon has cut the SPK and is using the dumont to fill the gap. Also I think that the flyer is replaced with the plyer

^Could be true...I went to their corporate head quarters last week for a peak, and no one was there. The door was wide open and no one was there. Satan wanted me to steal a pair of skis and a freeskier mag, but I resisted my adversary and left everthing as it was.

Still...where were they?

You are wrong in this case, but I can see where the confusion has come up. Marker is releasing two bindings next year that look very similar, except one is beefier and has a touring option and the other is designed for park skiing.

The

Duke IS marker's new touring binding, as has been stated several

times. Din 6-16. While it looks like the reactor, it is not based off

of it. The heal piece is actually based upon the same technolegy of

the Look P12 (marker owns to patents on the pivot technology, not the

FKS though) and the toe seems to be modified of the fritschi freeride.

just to restate it....there are two models that will be available.

One is a touring binding, the one shown in the pictures.

The other will be a park/pipe binding which is similar but does not have the touring option

ahh man i saw some guy at my mountain with those, but i didnt know what they where, so i just thought they where some funny looking pontoons

i think the main problem people have with the non wood core or foam core as it's refered to, is not that it's more flimsy initially, but that the stiffness of the ski loses its integrity quicker than a wood core would, becoming flimsy after a much quicker time than that of a wood core. while this isn't a problem for people on the team (as they get new ones), it does become a problem when they break down as the average person doesn't have enough money to buy a new ski every year.

They could be posted up, but after talking with several other people involved we decided that it would probably be better to wait until the topsheets are pressed onto skis than just graphics in this forum. No need to create unneccesary hype.

it could be fun to post them, maybe in a few weeks when pressing hopefully begins.

Pep on rockered something:

PepFujasRockeredParkRiding.jpg

This is an interesting article:

"Rockered park riding is the future. I'm talking prophecy yet I wouldn't have know it without having the pleasure of testing it first hand. I know I am one of the select few who have been able to ride park with rockered boards and I have to share this experience. It's hard to start to share all the doors that have opened up with this technology. Here are a few doors: Nose presses in the middle half of the ski, with bent knees. Butters where you can control the speed of which you rotate while being able to pop at any moment and control your direction. If you get off balance on a rail or landing, revert around or turn off the rail without catching your tips. This is just a tid bit to think about. The picture I posted is not a crash. Rockered park riding...BOOYAH!"

Buggy

BAGGY.jpg

IMG_1422.jpg

The absolute ski for the Back country Freestyler who want to ride fat big airs and deep powder every day…. . Its use on the pistes is simply surprising because with its radius of 21m, the curves become easier than a kids’ game.... One more allied in the range of the freestyle back country skis has joined the core line MVMT. The BAGGY with 102 mm at the waist.....

Iki

IKI.jpg

With the Iki you have a classical shape with a maximum of floating in order to enjoy the ride having no problems reaching the top of the mountains....With a rather wide waist ski-tip (80 mm) this ski supports a great bearing pressure in difficult snows....

probably the new AK.. apparently the seth and AK were too close so now the AK's are rockered.. I may be wrong. I will know for sure at SIA in a day or two.

i read in a thread about moment skis like a month ago and their tips are supposed to be like to to mimick old skis.

Moment skis dimentions are

reno- 120/86/112

ruby- 140/110/129

*comi- 160/136/145*

the chick ski is the same as the reno.
