If you like going downhill as much as you like going uphill, get a freeride. If you like trail riding, ie more climbing get a xc bike. If you want to be gnar and just do lift serviced get a downhill bike.
TBC puts me to sleep. The skiing is great but big gap jumps over and over get old, especially with a continous soundtrack of techno. I am also sort of sick of that sped up editing crap, he does it in all of his movies. S6 has great variety and a sweet soundtrack to boot.
This just in, Vail to open superpipe friday! The jumps looked like they were comin along, the basic shape was there but who knows how much more cat time it will take. As for BC, the jumps aren't amazing, nor are the rails.
Vail has the small park up under the gondy...big park will take a week most likely. BC has their 2 small parks up, decent rails and small jumps. The main BC park will take a while.
You could always check the colorado avalanche info center, check it on google. Otherwise, the snowpack is not to stable right now, lots of weak layers and faceting.
The recommended line is about 10cm back from center. My AR-5's were mounted at the suggested line and they definitely are not great all mtn. They carve well but dive in the pow and just don't work great outside of the park. It doesn't really affect your spinning if you mount them at the factory...
There's no metal in the Gun. They also have a pretty soft flex so they will not be the most stable ski at high speed. I will attest to their lightness. The ski is fun as hell, but it does ski a little short, so demo before you buy.
When the fuck was Vail ever a unique and soulful city? Vail might have had something going for it in the 70's, but it was straight up Disney after that.
I love my ar5's, but they do have softer than usual edges. I don't expect my edges to be immaculate but man, 1 compressed edge for about an inch and lots of deep gouges. Hopefully the thicker edge and longer teeth will compensate.
BC should have some stuff open, I see a lot of tracks each day down centennial, Grouse is deep I hear. Vail got pounded and will open 11 lifts, including northwoods tomorrow.
