AR5s Suggested Mounting

aight heres the deal, just got my 176 ar5s thinking about mounting them with the suggested mounting, will that kill my turns becuase people are saying mount them dead center..

this thread is going out to anyone who already mounted ar5s

search bar did not help - that will save some posts

well actually mounting center kills your turns compared to factory mount. factory mount would be the best place to mount for turning. i suggest in between center and factory if you still want a decent carving ski

is there somthing wrong with jus mounting them factory suggested?

i mean it is armada arent they a new school ski industy? they should know whats up and where to mount...

I highly doubt they will kill your turns or else it wouldn't be the SUGGESTED mounting spot. I got the 181cm AR5's and I mounted them at the recommended mounting spot.

If u are using them for all park and groomers, center mount them, if ur gonna go in pow or steep shit, get them at recomended, its like 2 inches back from center.

The recommended line is about 10cm back from center. My AR-5's were mounted at the suggested line and they definitely are not great all mtn. They carve well but dive in the pow and just don't work great outside of the park. It doesn't really affect your spinning if you mount them at the factory line.

Reccomened is 2-2.5cm closer to center than most suggested points. I measured it out. Mine's mounted at 5.5cm's and its equal tip and tail(might be off by just miniscule amounts of cm's).

I love them centered. So fun, makes it so much more jib-friendly. Really didn't notice too bad change in carving, and switch skiing was 10000x's easier. Way more fun.

Ok, i actually just had ar5s mounted myself so i know what im talking about. I got them mounted at the shop and the guys basicaly said this. He suggested that i mount the 2cm forward from reccomended. when he first suggested this i said, are you sre, ive heard that aramdas mounting point is close enought to center that it will be fine for rididng switch and everything. And he told me that the reccomended is about 5cm from true center, and that mounting them +2 will give me jsut a little bit more tail so that i can defiantely feel the difference, but the difference is not enough to throw off my sidecut and afect my turning. I told him that Im using these skis for everything. Trees, steeps, park, everything. And he told me that he does the same thing with his skis and mounts then +2 from center. So i got them mounted there and thats what you should do also if you ski the whole mountain.

It's weird, because you were most likely typing that when I finished typing mine...You basically said the same thing I said...

So in all, see people, I knew what I was talking about, because all you need to do is bust out some form of measuring utensil and do the work!

i have mine mounted at suggested and i think they r sick in the park they r only back about 3 cm from center i mesured it out

are the ar5's balanced at true center, in other words if you hold the ski at true center the tip and tail are equally as heavy and the ski doesnt fall backwards or forwards, they are balanched at true center or recommended point or niether?

I am a ski tech, and I called armada about this. never ever mount them dead center, armada them self says not to mount them center. the moust you should mount them is 3 cm forward of center. But really, recomended is best.

wiat dont mount em center mount em 3 cm past center as in you have more tail than tip??^ and why not center?

Anybody with an iron, wax, a file, and a stick of ptex can call themselves a ski tech. And the "ski techs" at my local shop don't have a clue. Just because you are a "ski tech" doesn't automatically mean you are qualified.

Second, you argued for mounting at recommended. However, you contradicted yourself by suggesting that the most you should mount is +3cm of center. That would leave you with about +13cm (depending on who's measurement from this thread you go with) from recommended and a ski with more tail than tip. Congratulations.

thats exactly what i was screaming, yeah man the ski techs here... blow. Not even ski techs, more like people who fuck up shit.

oops that was dumbass, mount them recomended, armada said the pros don't go more than 3 cm more than recomended however. In fact I mounted mine 2 cm forward and they work fine, but going all the way center is silly, and you are right, most skitechs do suck, which is why you shouldn't tell them to do something that isn't obvious, by telling them to mount it 3 cm forward they might mount it 3 cm forward of center, So sorry about the goof.

mostly because of edge hold, and carving ability. The armada ski has plenty of tail mounted regular, and the way the flex pattern works out, it favors mounting recomended. If armada really wanted a center mounted ski, the ski would flex differently. Only a few skis handle superbly mounted center, and beacuse the ar5 is an "all mountain" ski, turning should be an issue. Also armada has vertical sidewalls right under the boot to help with edge hold, and you start to lose that when you mount them farther forward. You can see the area where the ski was designed to be mounted. I mean they are your skis, you can do what you want with them, but when the company says that even their pros don't go more than 3cm forward of recomended, that's something to take into acount.

recomended is closer to balanced, and center is waay forward. On ar5s the recomended might be a hair forward of balnced.
