I just heard a rumor that vail will be a new location for an mtv studio. Jeremy Bloom is supposed to be a VJ at this studio. Vail is my hometown and I have watched it go down the tubes as a quality ski resort to a disney land in the mountains and wannabe aspen. Why can't some mountains remain to be about skiing and not about hollywood in the mountains. This sort of shit makes it difficult to go home and see my parents and to ski on a mountain full of attutude and fashion issues. if this is true it is a shame.

well its possible this is just for like a special...you know like mtv spring break or that winter whatever thing on VH1 at the end of the season at steamboat or somewhere...i bet its not perminent.

I hope so, In the 80's mtv came to beaver creek for their spring break thing, then they left hopefully they leave again.

I HATE HATE HATE MTV. I also hate how Vail is redoing Lionshead to be more like Beaver Creek. If you want Beaver Creek, go to Beaver Creek, but keep Vail what it is...or what it was I guess. Vail can only take so much crap being put in or corporate BS before it no longer is the great town that it was. The skiing will always be good, but it will suck ass if some low class company like MTV shows up and starts promoting it to low class people, like the lower middle class kids from the east coast who can't get enough of MTV's bullshit. Next thing you know, all the low class people from inner city New York will be winning trips out here and getting hooked up with "cool" ski gear and ruining the place by promoting the wrong image. And then we will have to deal with same sex "Next" being filmed on the mountain when we are trying to ski. Screw MTV if this is true.

they are promoting the sport... whats wrong with that? even if some people make it about fashion. you get those people everywhere:

Posers & snowbunnies...

being much more fimilire with aspen, I always thought vail was like that. Vail is like a shopping mall. atleast aspen has a town and stuff.

MTV will launch a high-definition music channel from a glass-walled studio on Vail Mountain, and Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom will be one of the VJs, the network and Vail Resorts announced Tuesday.

Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom can now add "MTV VJ" to his resume as he'll take the job for MTV's new Hi-Def channel MHD. Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom can now add "MTV VJ" to his resume as he'll take the job for MTV's new Hi-Def channel MHD.

By Michael Madrid, USA TODAY

The service, called MHD, will start on Jan. 16 with a studio atop Eagle's Nest, a restaurant complex at 10,350 feet above sea level, the companies said in a press release.

It will carry hip hop, rock, country, pop, reggaeton, soul and other music, original music-based programming and other content.

George Oliphant, a VJ with mtvU, will switch to MHD, MTV said.

Bloom, a freestyle skier and former University of Colorado wide receiver, will join MHD after the Winter Olympics in Torinoo, Italy.

MHD programs will include MHD Top Ten and MHD Video Stew, in-studio events and interviews with artists.

"I don't think we could have found a better locale to give viewers a spectacular backdrop for MHD than Vail and the Colorado Rockies," said Tony Dunaif, senior vice president of business development for MTV Networks Music Group.

Dunaif said MTV wanted a studio location that would showcase HDTV's capabilities.

Bill Jensen, Vail Resorts' chief operating officer and senior vice president, said the MHD studio was a boon for the resort.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase skiing and snowboarding in Colorado, and we truly appreciate being selected as the backdrop to launch MHD," he said.

AHHHHHHHH where is Quinny when I need him. I didn't say that all people on the east coast like MTV. I said that the people who like MTV are lower middle class kids from the east coast. HUGE difference. I wasn't bashing the east coast, I was bashing the MTV fanbase.

well, that sucks but at least vail is still a tight mtn. I live on the east coast and ski at Burke Mtn, which has always been pretty pure (owned by a ski racing academy and hasnt made improvements to anything for over 10 yrs). But some company that built epcot center is coming to make it the "Deer valley of the east" I'm so fucking pissed...what is going on with skiing?

yeah its true im so pissed becuase its gonna make vail like into a place where more stupid tourist come

That sucks for those who ski Vail who dont like MTV. But economically. Vail must be making so much fricken dough.. plus it brings more people who want to be on t.v. see some good in it.

When the fuck was Vail ever a unique and soulful city? Vail might have had something going for it in the 70's, but it was straight up Disney after that.
