    HALFPIPE SKIING IN THE OLYMPICS

Chris Robinson, who sits on the FIS Selections and Review Committee (not sure if that's its official name), said in an article for a ski mag that NO group (including corporate backing) has put forward a solid proposal for its inclusion as an Olympic sport. Yes, a number of people said they...

    Cork 10 moguls

You know how I know you're gay? You used to ski moguls... j/k. Just a little 40-year-old virgin humour.

He got 4th. Speed kept him out of the medals.

    Overpowering skis

Froom, You didn't mention what you skied before. Another thing to consider is that these skis are wider, most likely, than what you were riding before. i.e. You have to tip them over further to get the same edging.

    Overpowering skis

Froom, I would also consider a clear indication of overpowering a ski to be: going over the handlebars. When you drive forward in your boot and push on the tip, the front of the ski buckles and does not rebound sufficiently to keep up with you into the next turn.

    Mont Tremblant

Tremblant is in the midst of a major labour dispute right now. I was up there over the weekend (but did not ski). It was at least an hour for tickets, 2 hour wait in the gondola line, most stores were closed, etc. Ugly, ugly situation.

1080s why is nobody talking about em?

The CR does not have a wood core. It's PU Foam wrapped in a monocoque composite (extra fibreglass). Still, it's a better performer than the current crop of 1080's, and the vast majority of twins I've tested. It's just the "way" of this forum to hate on Salomon, MSP, and Jonny Moseley...

    CR Lab

Yes they are available again this year with a new 168 cm version along with the 180. Nothing else has changed.

    Salomon s916's

The S916 uses a 2 screw wing adjustment carried over from the old S900 Race series. Bottom line: they won't back off, due to vibration, like the single screw 912 and 914.

    FUCK MOSELEY

JM is probably on a very short list of ski personalities, with enough clout, who could have pulled this off - that'd be taken seriously by the San Fran city council to allow the permit. If you actually think that any of the recent crop of "superstars" could have done it, think again. 20 of the...

    Jakob Wester: Media darling?

OK, so NS.com's own JW not only gets a shot in Freeskier's EPIC section in the premiere issue of the season, BUT the entire back page of Ski Canada as well?!? Nice style in the quarterpipe, BTW. Congrats. What's next?

    Foil core

Question: Are the new foils still made of the crappy foam core as last year? Answer: No, they're made with a new "crappy" foam called polymethacrylimide (PMI).
  19. ifsa_alum

    Salomon and wood cores

The new park skis (Thruster, Foil) use PMI hard foam for their core filling material - no wood. The Candide Lab used PU foam - still no wood. The stiffness and flex pattern was designed in the topsheet cap. This is still the case for the CR Lab.

    Teneighty Gun

Skier_bum: If you liked the way PR's rode then you will like the Gun. The flex pattern hasn't been changed. The only real change has been the type of foam: PU has been replaced by a PMI (polymethacrylimide) hard foam which should make the ski more durable than before. As for the Gun Lab, if...
