HEY, everybody who thinks this is a good idea, take some time to actually look into it. It's bullshit and not legit at all! Save your $20 a month so that you can be that much closer when you have to pay for your medical bills yourself! Because guess what?!?! This XSI stuff isn't going to cover barely anything!!! Call me a hater, but I agree with jdub. This guy isn't in it to "spread the love," he's in it to make a buck.
Do your research before you invest any of your money into this, even if it is only $17 a month. If you want any kind of security you're going to have to pony up the money for a better/real health insurance plan.
I talked to these guys today after a friend told me about this post. XSI is a accidental and supplemental insurance that is not meant to replace a normal plan. It's only $17 a month and they said it will cover 100% of normal injuries that don't require surgery. It also helps with co pay and deductibles. Last year I blew my ACL and had to pay $5K out of pocket for surgery, the basic plan will cover those costs. It's basically like Aflac but it's cheaper and better from what I've read so far.
The shit is less than 20 a month. Take the time to learn how it works, injury stuff all adds up so you get money for the doc visit, x ray, and the injury. A real health plan is $100 a month. Even though it doesn't cover a lot it's still better then nothing. My broke ass could have used it last year when jacked my leg and am still paying for it. I could be driving a new car for the monthly payments im paying for it. Im sigin up for it soon cause i cant afford a real plan.
I originally sent the following as a message to 666slayer (friendly name!) but thought, f it. ill just post it:
"I am not hating on Jimbo as a person; I hope he is a great father and husband. But when it comes to 'business,' people often put on a different pair of shoes...and thats what I dont agree with concerning his career.
Your examples still do not argue against my point and your idea of "progressing the sport" is skewed. I havent bought anything Sessions for years because the few things I did originally buy, and those that friends had, all fell apart. Skullcandy headphones are notorious for breaking and having mediocre customer service. Electrics are just overpriced, image based goggles. None of these companies have innovated and 'progressed,' they just entered the market. Everything he puts his hands on is just adding more generic, branded products to the industry...that is not progression. Thats feeding the image. And its why skiing is turning into a fashion/popularity/image based joke. Look at all the young kids on this website....its now the whose who, and the who has what.
Skullcandy isnt even an action sports brand anymore...its an action sports image brand. In the UK right now, Orange (one of the largest cellphone companies) is giving free Skullcandys to anyone who buys a phone over 30 quid (~$50). Thats not progression. That does nothing FOR the sport, it just uses the image to make more money.
If he really wanted to 'progress' the sport he would be looking at companies with R
And through your comments you still don't stop to acknowledge he started the K2 Factory team. That's giving back. He skied in the Olympics that's pretty huge. I met him at Squaw Valley ten (10) years ago and he put together three (3) tour buses of inner city kids from San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento so kids could come up to the mountains and try skiing. Yea, He's a real SCUMBAG jdub. You are never going to be happy with anything this guy does in the ski industry are you. So I put it out there again jdub. What the fuck have you done if anything for skiing other than complain about someone who is still in the game. No one should listen to a word out of your mouth because at the end of the day your just an idiot hating on a guy who has done a lot of positive things for skiing and you can't claim anything. SHUT THE FUCK UP. Your just a POM (Prisoner of Mother England)
In 2004, the US government spent 15.2% of GDP on health care.. the median for all other countries was 9.5%. Yet infant mortality rates are higher and life expectancy is shorter (ranked 46th and 50th worldwide, respectively). Japan spends about half what the US does on health care and maintains better quality of life.
My point?
1)It's sad that this market can exist.
2)Sweet... lets watch the US burn up more cash pumping a system that people are too ignorant to admit does not work.
