Your favorite local skier that never "made it"

This kid Andreya I used to see around Vermont was real gnarly at skiing and then went to college and disappeared.

just playin, but theres a ton of kids on the east coast who could have made it big and didn’t, wheres Mcslay? Sam putnam?

Putnam had the filthiest pretzels

Yooo what happened to this kid? He dropped some heaters, went to super unknown, and last time I saw his name come up he had switched to snowboarding.

yeah Ben started out snowboarding and switched to skiing when he was like 12? It was a fun year when he started skiing because it was the last time I was able to beat him in slvsh haha. He stopped skiing the year after super unknown and started snowboarding again. Claims he can strap back into skis and be better than he ever was if “the time is right”

He gave up professional skiing basically because he couldn't get paid enough to have a good quality of life and make the risk worth it. There's something to be said for moving on and having a bigger life than just constantly risking getting badly hurt while not making enough to live on.

definitely understandable

Skierman for sure. Sad to see him now, trolling the forums, deluded of his own grandeur. Not sure how good he was at skiing, but could have had an orange name at his peak before his peers moved on.

Oh to live in former orangename glory !! How ironic ??

Rode with Henry a little bit at the start of the season, he still shreds. I think mullins is out in taos now?

Yeah Henry still shreds he was out west this year for a few months, haven't seen him in a minuet tho but always stayin up to date on his insta

Don't know how nobody said Sheldon Donatelli yet, his 2013 season edit was so far ahead of its time. Also I remember Dan Dougherty had the sickest backyard edits but I was bummed to never really saw any other content from him

Growing up at Mt. Hood Meadows there were alot of dudes that could have made it. But the one that sticks out and I still see him time to time at Brighton (I think he still works in the repair shop up there) is Hans Bergner. Dude slayed back in the day and slays now. Super nice, great gypsy style and just an all around inspiring dude to watch ski.

coached with luke at sugarloaf one year and not only was he one of the sickest park skiers I've ever ridden with he is a super nice dude and incredibly humble. he was snowboarding with other homies most days we weren't coaching.

watching you guys and sean make this edit was one of the sickest things I'd ever seen go down in person, and it honestly changed the way I looked at skiing forever:

also for sugarloaf riders that I linked up with that year Henry Bonneau was always dropping hammers and Sean Mullins was super creative and sendy. Don't know if they ever dropped edits on here but they are some true soul riders.

I'm with you and Keegan - Luc is one of the nicest and most humble humans out there, along with being a ridiculously sick skier.

That year was all time - Henry Bonneau, Sean Mullins, Luc Brown all shredding around, good snow year, good parks. Oh the memories. Miss all you Loaf homies extra right now.

Prolly my favorite is either Kevin Bane or Chris Laker. I’ve been following those dudes on insta since about 2013-14 and they have always thrown down some of the sickest and cleanest shit.

Heres a name for the old heads.

Antoine Caron. Dude from Quebec (I think)

Pretty sure he quit skiing to become like a professional mountain biker, but some of his old vids are WAY before their time and his style was insanely clean.

Used to be a guy that shredded at Seven Springs. His name was like Don Bolish or something? I would always see him hitting fat pretzels and his afterbang was crazyyy. I don’t see him skiing there anymore so I guess he just got too old and moved somewhere for college/work. Oh and he used to wear the baggiest clothing it was so sick.

654227">http://

Everyone at 7 springs knew Dave Taylor ... nice guy and psycho skier. His switch backflip to drop is still one of the craziest tricks I’ve ever seen.

Austin Torvinen representing Duluth MN. Got some recognition by making superunknown finals but easily could've had a career with Level 1. Unfortunately injuries ended things but the dude's doing well now from what I hear, and can bench more than you.

Also can't sleep on the one and only Kendozer. Thx schoess.exe for putting this one together. And if you see this great dozer-of-ken, bummer that the Lutsen pilgrimage is cancelled this year... but let's plan a day with the homies next season!

Embarrassed to say that I forgot about AT, but yeah Kenny has some of the most natural talent and grace I've ever seen. Spending years filming with him was really fun and eye-opening. Homie'd just whip something out first T that you've never seen him do before.

1:03 was an "accident" and "its just what happened idk" he said.

The trick after you can see him upset when he landed because he though the 4 out was there or something, idk.

ALSO...

Starting at 1:03, you can see his absolute control and finesse.

Some of his most mature style imo, love this segment. Starts at 5:33

Starting at 7:59 an iconic segment from Ken-Dozer as well. So many bangers

Breid is one of the most fucked skiers I've ever seen. Dude was a tank; I remember him taking blackpark jumps to flat, exploding, and then skiing away unscathed

Different Sam Putnam. Watch the old Gold Project videos. I can't find all the good Putnam edits from Liam McKinley, I think it all got lost when video enforced their music copyright crap.

dude Jamie I was literally reminiscing on that winter a few nights ago. An awesome snow year, we had that all time storm in february, and some of the best memories ever rippin with Luc and Mean Sullins. I know times have changed in the valley but that crew made Sugarloaf the funnest mountain in the world for me at that time. I could go on and on.

Ugh, I know. I was the first person to hit a jump blindfolded. Opportunity lost.

just about all of the locals. they filmed some gangsta videos called "Every day is a tall t day" they have vanished from the face of this earth sadly. gotta name some names here tho: Simen Aarseth Gjelsvik, Hogne Olsnes, Yrjan Olsnes, Eirik zahl slora and Benjamin forthun (benjamin is ballin a bit at this moment being sponsored by faction)

Comes many names in my head but few Scandi skiers- Simen Aarseth Gjelsvik and Fred Inge Guttormsen

Simen got silky smooth style, creative tricks and that flavour that we all are looking for.

My man Fred is so tech, can mirror every trick both ways and should definitely made it.

Also any skier from Ruka.

But one of my biggest inspiration in skiing have always been underdawg Reinis Stabins.

Will leave this video so you can see why.

Adam Roberts (RIP) was a legend in the PNW. Always sending the hugest cliffs, skiing the gnarliest lines without anybody knowing about it. Shred in peace.

Sean Mullins and I worked together at Ski Sundown in New Hartford, CT in the 13/14 season (I think) Him and he brother Kyle were always so much larger than the mountain. I guess Sean put something out this year. Glad he is still shredding!!

The welch crew, who grew up skiing at welch village MN. Back like 04-09 was the prime. A group of great dudes, who absolutely killed it skiing, whether it was at the “mountain” or urban. Each with their own style, own bag of tricks and always trying to push each other.

Always loved watching colter hale lap at winter park when I was little. One of my favorite styles still to this day.

Scott mfn Nelson

Scott Nelson. Not sure that he ever was really trying to "make it", except maybe mogul skiing for longer than most...but his style and consistency was incredible. I was coaching slope while he was winning every contest in high school, you could tell he just had something different than everyone else

I know Sean from Montana. He goes faster down steep tech shit than anyone. And then throws some wild shit in the park. That edit is probably just a smattering of stuff he did. I never saw anyone film his best stuff. There are also countless local skiers who never made it out here in Montana because they don't care. People boosting 80 foot airs solo, no filmer, no gopro. Such a fun scene full of local legends and kooky characters.

hahahaha, 4 jump shots spinning the same way in a 5 minute edit. No wonder he didn't make it. Fucking rail jocks.

man, you cant speak against gab boudro, he was way better then ABM back then. Skiing all day, packing some food in his pocket, hiking rails like there was no tomorrow. I remember bringing the kid to a local bar : "Ozone Grande-Allee"... Maybe I accelerate his taste for partying and binge drinking, I don't know. In my heart, he IS the best skier in Quebec:

Tim Maney aka Tim Zilla.....Used to coach for the team I grew up skiing on and he was one of my main pipe skiing coaches....Dude taught kids a lifetime worth of lessons on how to have fun and ski the way you want to. Wont ever forget that impact. Thank you man.. Shouts out to the rest of the OG 4bi9 crew as well.

Zilla pushed us to search for those gaps that didn't exist.

and it also lead to destroying both of my knees following him into another gap of destiny.

If he wasn't sidelined with a busted hip, he would have been one of the best pipe skiers to exist.

Anybody from Juneau, Alaska would know this guy. Will Geiger, was an absolute tank that hauled ass everywhere he went (not to mention in a all bright green neon kit lol) became a instant local classic at Eaglecrest Ski Resort. This video didn't age well at all and looks like it was filmed on a potato but my friends and I watched this more than 100 times because he was the only sick park skier in our town. Granted it was 2008 back then and we thought all the tricks were Earth shattering

Paddy Flanagan and Jank Drangis were always fun to watch when I was growing up at Hyland hills MN, so much style from both of them- definitely ahead of their time.
