step ups, or overs as you call them. if you look at dirt jumps for bikes, the best made ones are always stepups, or stepovers, bigger landings, safer falls.
in the park: a 20 foot gapper with not to much kick to it, but you are still in the air for a while. or in the powder i just like to jump all the natural stuff into powder
the difference between step ups and step overs is, on a step up u jump up and land on a flat deck, like the candide step ups, or in wski106 the whistler step up over the cliff.
step over is when you jump up over the knuckle and land on a landing, like the joi jump or mammoths show case jump at the bottom is kind of a step over
the kind of jump that you is smooth yet still poppy, not a short table but not incredibly long and a landing that you do not have to worry about clearing
I love good tables and i love trying new tricks on step ups with nice soft landings because it is as if you have never left the ground.....never done a step over but they look cool....now this is my kind of jump...a little on the far side for me but another 15 feet closer and that is some dope shit....
Sick step up...i wish they had jumps like these by me
for tricks (i only spin up to 5), I prefer really mellow takeoffs. even more so than most park jumps, however I love a super steep takeoff for straight airs or 180's where you just float.
