You can now pay to cut the lift line.

This must have been the ongoing state of discussion when the first lifts started spinning for the first time nearly a hundred years ago.

Seems like a weird thing to get mad about though, in what scenario could this have a meaningful impact on the actual number of fresh turns to be acquired? If your turns are in that short supply I feel like it's time to find another hill or stop riding weekends like a standard bloke. Do you also get mad at the turns patrol/snowmaking/lift maintenance make while you're in the queue?

this chode pays for a fast pass.

Get in the comments on the insta accounts of mtns that are implementing this. Be aggressive but I don't condone any threats or anything like that. Also maybe don't tie your real name to that shit cause I know examples of people getting banned from mtns for callouts on ig.

Never get mad at any of the homies that bust ass to make the lifts turn/ safe to ski. But unlike an airport where you can pay to get on a plane faster or through security quicker, where everyone is greeted by the same airport/plane. Ski conditions deteriorate, so even if the number of people who buy this is small conditions will deteriorate that much faster. To equate it to earning your own turns, this would be like if the forest service offered a limited number of permits (for $$$) to camp in a lot that doesn't allow over night camping. So the homies with disposable income could camp and be out on snow before you even make your morning coffee.

you're delusional if you think anyone with any sort of power at a resort looks at their instagram comments.

In my friends experience, they looked at comments enough to spam the (private) account with bots until he accepted one of their follow requests, analyze people in photos, find that the person was on the local ski team and interrogate kids until one of them admits who it was. Yes they care and marketing teams absolutely pay attention to interactions on their socials.

Yup, this. The most that will happen is a middle level marketing manager will see an AI generated stat on positive vs negative comments and that will be it.

I spent the off season shitting on stevens pass for not opening the bike park. Now I’m wondering if they will let me ski there.

does anyone know how exactly it will work? (how it worked at copper would be helpful)

i imagine it's a separate line, and they just load a chair from that line every so often? i'd be curious how exactly they meter it

What is the situation you're referring to? Which mountain? Sounds like something a small ski resort would do, but for a resort like Snowbird, they do not give a fuck what you say in the comments dude, its only being read by whoever runs their social media who gets paid $15/hr and a free pass.

When they had it at PC, it was like the ski school line, when you arrive at the end of the fast tracks line, they stop the regular line and bring in whoever is in the fast tracks line.

Yeah it was like 300 extra? i think on a season pass back then, prob is only 20-30 a day extra. I'm not sure how it will be implemented tho, but it would likely skip the entire line.

symptom of a greater trend. the corpo goal for years has been to turn skiing from a sport into a slightly colder disney vacation. mtn owned lodging, safety patrol, heated gondolas w/ wifi etc etc... if you ski more than 7 days a year you are just an unfortunate expense to vail and friends.

Skiing has always been marketed more as a vacation than a sport.

Yea, without all the visitors buying passes and food etc. Season passes will only cost more. They are already high enough!

Thankfully, I ski most of the season, so I don't think it's going to change that much for me.

It's supposed to be for 'select' chairs only, so hopefully it should not affect all the chairs.

I pray Skyliner will not be on the list, even though.

Sorry you're so upset VIP experiences exist. Who cares if a few wealthier people cut in line if they pay for it? Happens all the time. No point being upset. None of us can stop it. Are you surprised? Skiing isn't some holy sanctuary of equality on Earth, it's a luxury sport for the richer to begin with. Life must be stressful for you.

Nvm. I'm just an irrational idiot :)

Did you see the post that was directed at? I know minimum wage jobs aren't special, it's no secret. The known chud replied to my legit response to the thread with an insult, which was incorrect nonetheless.

Anyone who thinks resorts won't monetize any little thing they can is absolutely kidding themselves. I'm calling it - they'll start selling certain runs for microtransactions with varying prices depending on conditions of said runs.

No matter how much money i have i’d never want to buy that fast pass. Thank god im not a weekend warrior though im not at all concerned

Fast tracks is cool but like snowbird is never fully open wall-to-wall anymore on deep days, just when the storms break every so often. Patrol there doesn't wanna deal with more bullshit on top of the shit they already deal with besides endless medical calls and entitled skiers

At stratton they have something similar, but its like a season pass. we just use the line on the mid mountain lifts when its busy and we get through because nobody scans

I'm honestly surprised to see Bachelor on that list. They're usually one of the more consumer-friendly mega-pass mountains in the west. They're fairly tight with the locals. If you piss off your community, you deserve to get called out for it.

Boho has a fast pass. They get to go in a fast pass line that ideally has fewer people than the normie line. Boho makes more money, the jack ass dentists aren't choking up the line and scratching up my topsheets, and the people who buy it don't know where the good snow is anyways.

Holy fuck bro don't give them any ideas. Generally I feel like we're in the clear on that since amusement parks don't make you pay for the more intense rides. But this concept makes more sense in a ski mountain than an amusement park.

Classic POWDR pulling this kind of shit. I know they aren't going to listen to the core skiers about any type of shit like this so ig all I can do is shame, snowball and engage in a whole lotta sticker bombing

You could get a job and buy the skip pass…

or join me, let’s all get together and plug up these lines!! Those who can afford one buy your own, some of us will provide, and some will hand them out to other I’m not gonna say core, but true shredders, or even better, provide them to every little kid on the mountain, they’ll plug that line up ?

Look boomer, it’s not that people can’t afford it, this site is full of people who prefer equality, truly “LOVE” skiing and this pass is just unfair. Your new here I get it, but based on what I’ve seen from you I gotta tell ya, tgr has a forum more suited to your attitude and I’m not looking forward to seeing ya at big sky.

Most people care if someone cuts, paid for or not, it’s not fair. It’s never really bothered me, I usually ski the less known areas and weekdays, plus single line so I move quickly

After reading the overall view of this I feel about it like I do ikon, gotta keep that shit on the DL, I’m not buying one daily, but I may buy it several times throughout the year to make my days more efficient and experience filled.

Catch me throwing snowballs at pretentious people who go into that line

Why? To cause public upsets , delays and possibly fights? This will only cause you, and all of us to stand in line longer. You’ll find me catching those snowballs and dropping them on the ground then proceeding to enjoy myself, those snowballs would be better aimed at jerry sitting in middle of jump lines.

Some amusement parks where I’m from, have rides that aren’t included on the ticket and you have to pay….that don’t bother me, the dickheads with the rollercoaster vip pass that skip the line… doesn’t really bother me but it sucks, it sucks even more bc my kids beg for me to fucking buy one X 5 of us that’s an extra $250 every time

I’d say if your gonna leave comments, make them suggestive questions…

And to the dude your post was in response to, yah dude holy fuck ssssshhhh, big corp gets wind of that idea it will happen, a form of this can already be seen in big skys tram pass.

to those against this pass-

rather than leave a “ fuck you your fast pass is fucking up my days IG post “ , ask the ? If the money will be going to expand terrain or produce more lifts as this is what all resorts need, more acreage and lifts, or if your really gung ho, organize a protest with a group and block that line., I know vails sitting on $ and putting in new lifts here and there, and if you think it’s in fair, ask yourself the question is life fair? Is it fair that jesper tjader is better than you, I mean how deep does your self pity run?

To those for the pass-

do the same, ask your mountains what they’re doing with the $, suggest a % of those sales go to a liftie bonus or something, an extra liftie at back of the line, more clearly marked gates etc would make an improvement

to all-

if you want your mountain experience better, you gotta help make it better for all, for the mountain so they can make $, for the employees and lifty , so they don’t gotta deal with your bitching, they already get it from the tourists, and employer, they don’t need it from you so called “core” skiers, for the tourist, so they come back and spend that MONEY, without them, we would all be hiking to the top

Fuck yah I blaze , and I wasn’t attacking you but if you chill you will find there are a lot of awesome members here of all ages and a few bad apples too, and while you may be set in your way and I in mine, there’s no reason not to compromise and learn how to get along in the world, propagating my way or the highway is not property of any generation and should fade out.

And basically we all have the same primary goal, to ski, so while we may look at something different there’s not any reason to not get along and work together, ultimately I’m “ok” with a skip line pass, but there has to be a better way, a way in which caters to the tourist and pleases the locals and employees, no matter who you are or how you look at it, that, would benefit us all.

I AM GOING TO KICK.....off our conversation by asking if you blaze and what's a good (safe ?) line down the mountain.?

I can't change my age so if that's the beef, fuck off..... and as I said, you called out the same behavior I did.

But I'll lay low, it's your party so cry if you want to.

I'm not a fan of the fast pass, but it's kinda bullshit that that dude think that Bachelor is somehow "more local" than any of the other mountains that are getting it, and therefore its not OK at Bachelor but is fine everyone where else. Even if he was right somehow, how would one measure that? Every one of these mountains have a substantial amount of people that would call themselves "locals," and since when do you have to be a "local" to not like people paying extra to skip the line?

Bottom line is if your mountain is run by a capitalist organization beholden to shareholders, they will do whatever turns them a profit, and they do not give a shit about how "local" you claim you are

Tbf skipping a rope toe is different, we still do that, if a spots open take it

have fun it’s a gr8 man, I interact with everyone , pretty much force everyone to talk or blow me off so we will probably meet, I got too much gear to describe myself, I smell like weed a lot I’m told ? can almost see the green aura

....grew up skiing for free as a lifty and instructor... so again didn't wait in line much....fast forward a life....now I'm looking at returning as a perk of the job.

Pretty sure my body is going to let me down, even as my mind is going lift me up.

So if you do see a boomer in new boots, 190/85's, with a free season pass AND an Ikon, helmet plastered with SCOTT stickers ask him for a light...
