Yeti sighting

jeremy, tell leslie we need a table & real park in a huge way. the pipe should be shortened and more features up top.

WW was the leader last year, this year what happened? people were stoked to get up this yr, but now they are getting comfortable with Poley and Martock again.....they both have full parks this weekend! To get new people at WW for all season we need to show them park features all year, not just for a comp or two, or that is all youll see them for.

If anyone agrees that WW is falling behind in park this year please express it...we need numbers to get things turned around.

Yo,

I know I have no clue of any of the decisions at WW but why not place a gun in the park and and at least get something accomplished in there for this upcoming weekend. The beaver looks great but it'd be sweet to have a jump or something this weekend because the season is over in ~2 months...and we have the weather now....with that said I do understand they need terrain open on other runs but will one or two guns for a little stretch really hurt??

MF

I completely agree guys. Finaly WW had people switching from Poley and Martock giving WW huge props...now there's word of no major table or park for 2 weeks? What happened. Jeff's right both other hills have full parks up and running now.

hey guys,

Leslie gets tones of calls daily about the Tubing park and no emails or calls about the Terrain park. Im the lone voice in a sea of negativity and ignorance about the local scene. Please forward your thoughts and comments about the park or lack there of to Leslie.

Help them understand.

Thanks

Thor

this is hilarious

Playing devil's advocate for a second, you'll know that this winter has been even worse than last. There's barely been skiing let alone skiing. The way I see it sometimes is that Wentworth's size and length of trails means more snowmaking is necessary to get any trails open than the straight shot runs at Martock or Poley.

That said we know they have some superiour snowmaking capacity, but that will change very soon based on what is planned for and even regardless of the Canada Games.

The hill is currently trying to accommodate a huge number of groups for February events which include CFSA Table Top, Rolland Brunner (Headwall), Scaravelli Cup (Junior Development Race), NSSA and NSSAF Boarder Cross comps (Pugwash, 100+ racers in some events), Head For The Hills (February 23rd major event), etc.

I wouldn't disagree for a second that there is a HUGE potential for growth (snowboarders from Halifax and Moncton especially) if a great park was made at the outset of a season, but it's been another rough one. When we'd rather be thinking park in December, we were thinking opening the Sissy Rosebowl in mid-January...

A little more patience. With everyone committed, and trying to stay positive (not that it's down just yet), we'll take the cake again.

I guess a reminder could go out that the Crabbe park is up so if you have a Wentworth pass, go and check it out if you have a ride and the will...

agreed , trying to keep over 100+ competators happy and getting races going , that may lead to the canada games is a little more important then a park , even thought they really need to get it going , but they are doing there best so reaally we cant say much , just keep up the good work.

no denying that WW is putting huge efforts into their hill, they always have and will do so.

riding WW is totally different than other local hills. the additude, spirit and vibe is amazing. the patroller are in touch with the sport as much as we are so they understand why we ski backwards and want to hit big hits and rails. the management is also great, Leslie and Mike respect everyone and are down to earth peeps.

i guess i am just pointing out the reasons why WW is not growing their park riding enthusist compared to other hills, especially with the boarders. finding a solution is the key, not bitching, no one here is bitching. i beleive some of the first steps are to take a serious look at the half pipe and go from there. it is way to wide and long. some of the fill can be used to mold contours down below to avoid the lengthy waits for snowguns.

if CFSA Table is required in Feb people need to train now. racers have a few runs now they can train on, we cant period. it is a huge issue for us. this huge issue is also the reason WW is not seeing new face with their money to support the hill.

so there you have it, we are now a business forum. im going to list the three things i want in a perfect park, please do the same so hills at least have something to look at when planning (if they dare plan)!!

1. park lift for laps (the length of the park should almost match the lift)

2. length over width, more features continueous than together, longer park run means more practice and better skill developement.

3. MAINTENANCE, the other two are useless without it. everyday or not at all, follow the leaders - Mammoth, Blue, WW last year!!!

length of park season and range of feature difficulty also rank high.

I totally understand your points Jeremy but we all know that even 1 gun in the park for a few days can get somethign accomplished.....I agree that terrain must be opened to accomodate multiple groups especially the upcoming races and fundraisers, but will a little snow in the park to quench our thirst hurt their overall snow production that much??

big table means big snow reserve, maybe you should metion this to Leslie. If WW keeps sprawling out the snow on as many runs as they can and we get another windy low with 10 degree weather WW is up shits creek again. Martock has put an extremely thick base on Expressway prior to moving on to other runs. WW could use a table for snow if a weather systems hits us again, which it will.

there are sooo many reasons to build a jump, shit I have phnemionau and probley wont ski for 2-3 wks but still cant see why no table is being developed. if people want just groomers they will go to martock. WW needs to rise above. we also want bumps, pipe, quarter pipe, wall ride and all the rails needed to develope technique confidence but we know that is not realalistic, a jump however makes sense and is REQUIRED.

This aint no parade Buttercup. Man up and stick by the opinon that you expressed in the office and check yourself before you write an online suck up letter. Hey Charles, guess which winter sport is televised during the Canada Games; Freestyle skiing not alpine Racing. So no freestyle experience or facilities = no games.(" You better Check yourself before you wreck yourself". john emberly yells to a race coach as the race coach runs away.)

We will be getting two guns Monday night so that we can have a larger table built by the weekend. Mike is doing a great job coordinating snowmaking so it will get done in time. We currently have two hits on the sissy and three jibs on the rosebowl. A small table and hip style jump, the boxes, the Tcup rail and a super low flat rail for learning. The snow is great, the scene is better with all the twin tippers ripping it. We have had our challenges by the way of weather but with the support of the true riders and skiers, it will be a great remainder of the season.

Oh, and Andy at Martock thought that our park was too advanced last year, so expect a buttercup park down there, go Martock, they make it so easy for us. hahaha

wow , i didnt think that there would be any freestyle skiing events in the canada games , that is awsome , i gess i better find stuff out before i say anyhting, my misstake.

^charles, the key is too understand why it is so important for our hills to identify the right reasons to support and build park.

a group of canada game athletes have spents thousands each to find training facilities. if i was to practice (on snow) gs or slalom i could of started the very first day the hill opened. when training freestyle you need the real live version of the feature, or guess what, your a joke at the event. and of course a true table reaches out to so many riders in halifax and moncton that martock nevers sees.

i think its good that wentowrth has some more runs open to give some more variety and keep the crouds spread out, and having a few small jumps and rails to hit on the way down the hill is all good, but there really does need to be a real park put in with some rails and a jump, with different lines you can take down through it. wentworth has the rails and the space needed to make a really nice park, and with the teperatures that we have right now it would probably only take a week with a few snow guns to get the snow we need to do it.
