Worst Ski Cultures

Skiing locations with the worst cultures.

The worst in my opinion would be Ruby Hill and Perfect North.

No discussion of salt lake in this thread

Never been but I've always imagined Jackson Hole skiers to be lame. No reason, just bet they all think they're hot stuff for skiing Jackson and whenever they go somewhere else have to directly compare that place to Jackson.

I would agree with the Perfect North take, all karsteter wannabes just because he skis there

breckenridge, sorry

breck low key still lit if you know your way around. better than staying in any other summit country town/resort.

hot take: copper. feels like a MA mountain nowadays, can only escape if you get to back bowl by 10am. max like 10 runs on the front side on weekends6 if you’re riding woodward. and i’m always playing chicken with some 35 year old who just bought DPS at the mountain shop. they refuse to go under 40mph for some reason, clearly out of their comfort zone. RIP copper

Denver/i70 and SLC.

Nowhere else comes close to being a shitty or the skiers being as cunty because they moved there 5 years ago and mad at anyone whos visited or also lives there since.

Big bear bc it’s only boarders

Maybe my perspective is skewed from Bear being my home mountain but it kinda seems like everywhere is mostly boarders. Normies love boardsports now

Orangutans have very large appetites they eat lemurs but won't eat cockroaches. The people hate the people but they censored newsheepers. Humanity as a whole is lacking farts however they always hate newschoolers.

Palisades has more douchebags than every east coast resort combined. A great mountain that is unfortunately a playground for entitled dentist boomers.

It's all stoned kids at the U skiing concrete/Woodies/Three Kings making super trash skis or outerwear, trustafarians and FWT-wannabees at Alta/Snowbird, and of course Californians with their parents money tho

Masikryoung ski resort

Masikryong* is a charming ski resort in East Asia with a safe and vibrant community of well fed skiers. Idk why you would mention them here.?

Deer Valley

Fuckin snobby rich people that demand the world just to ski the most mediocre terrain ever. Beaver Creek is there with it too. Telluride has sick terrain but the influx of billionaires is not chill.

Vail

idk also granite Peak is kinda ass except for a few cool people like myself

Granite Peak 2008-2015 had the most competitive jock culture. There was a smugness in the air. Butterstickinc and some other small crews thought they ran that place. Haven't been there in years.

How do you regularly ski at both Ruby hill and perfect north?

i don’t understand the perfect north slander unless he specifically doesn’t like karsteter, ankilla and geopper which doesn’t have shit to do with culture

Niseko.

Absolutely no good place to properly Apres, and it's full of Australians - particularly Queenslanders - who, while usually apologetic after the fact, are very likely to want to fight you over any little bullshit on a night out just.. because?

And now it's been fully invaded by Chinese, Hong Kong, and Singapore families who are more interested in looking fancy but really just act nouveau riche as fuck and don't quite have the right appreciation for the location.

Ive actually been pretty impressed with the Americans and Canadians whove come here this year - they tend to be here for all the right reasons - to shred, stay in cheap accoms, and try all the local cuisine they can - while the Australians seem to just demand tim tams and whatever else they'd normally eat back home anyway.

Anyway yeah.. don't come to Niseko for good ski culture. It's lacking that pretty badly.

Just based off the vibe I get from the videos and the people that come out of those places. I’m sure perfect north and ruby hill both have some good people.

Of all the places with questionable vibes I've been too, Crystal WA has to take the cake. I remember the locals at Crystal being massive douchebags the last time I was there; Always pushing past aggressively on hike-to's, complaining about how much Crystal sucks (it doesn't?), snaking the booter I built in south back, arguing about literally everything for zero reason

Bummed to see the PNS comments. I grew up there, and at the time - late 90s/early 00s - we had a really great group of riders. Everyone was just trying to figure things out together, and with very few exceptions we all got along pretty well.

Best are the back woods hills where the billys pull up in side-by-sides and tailgate by the lift (Swain NY). My local Hill in NY has no culture (Bristol mountain) besides the legends to come out of it.

Oh so you don’t actually know the culture at either of those places, got it ??

Yeah, thinking about it more this whole thread idea was just an excuse to hate on ankilla without mentioning him directly

I did 1 season at perfect north a few years ago and it was pretty chill. Its a combination of veterans who are skiing park into their 30s + a bunch of 12 year olds whose parents drop them off and hang out on the rope tow. I would assume those are the kids who are hitting puberty now and turning into mini Jacksons.
