A Wal-Mart worker died after being trampled when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island store Friday morning, police and witnesses said.

The 34-year-old worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.

Witnesses

said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and

was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," said Jimmy Overby,

43, a co-worker. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled

and killed in front of me. They took me down too...I literally had to

fight people off my back."

The unidentified victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m., police said.

The cause of death wasn't immediately available pending results of an autopsy.

A

28-year-old pregnant woman was knocked to the floor during the mad

rush. She was hospitalized for observation, police said. Early witness

accounts that the woman suffered a miscarriage were unfounded, police

said.

Three other shoppers suffered minor injuries, cops said.

Before

police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency

crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through."

Only a few stopped.

"They're savages," said shopper Kimberly Cribbs, 27. "It's sad. It's terrible."

O top of all this, a pregnant woman there was knocked down and trampled as well. she was rushed to the hospital and had a miscarriage.

i just heard this on the radio, thats sooo fucked up, somone dies and a pregnant lady is hurt because people want to save a couple bucks, FTW
 
yea, sounds ridiculous. We had mad rushes like that in my store this morning too (worked 4am-10am, we are actually given limits on how many hrs we can work because management doesn't want to put us through that stress)

only in my store we were prepared, each "cashwrap" (a circular area with cash registers inside little wall things) had a bat, and a radio for 4 people. We've been swamped in before by people and had to push our way out, so now we're more prepared. (the bat isn't for swinging, but more for herding people out of the way if you need to get out asap)

That's not really a fair judgment. This stuff has happened with all white crowds also. Race isn't the issue, it's human greed.
 
I can see your point and I partly have to agree with it, but he's just pointing out a fact. Ok, it's true that this greed has nothing to do with color, but it's just a fact. I'm totally against racism, so don't think I'm somebody who discriminates people all the time...
 
I'm never ever going to partake in Black Friday. Even when I have kids and they want a video game console for Christmas, I'm going to say "tough shit" and hand them a rutabaga.

uhh it did. Last year at Wal-mart a lady was trampled over a DVD player. Not sure if she died or not, but she got trampled the same exact way.
 
so someone is dead all because someone wanted a chep TV. it is fucking crazy that something like that would happen, and that people are willing to do ANYTHING for a chep gift. This is why alot of other coun tries hate us, because we are turning the holidays all commercial. Where in other countries gifts are items that have been in the family for years. its not huge and all about the gifts. This story is just fucking sick.

seriously, what are we becoming? im on longisland visiting family and we went out about 11 this morning it was still insane , and the even sadder part was when we left the mall about 4 it looked like a war zone the bed/bath section of macys looked like a bomb went off and there were clothes/ shoes all over the floor. people are savages.

oh yeah and when did english become not the primary language?

not saying that that had anything to do with it, but just an observation. and yeah, this just shows what the morals of a lot of people are. i cant imagine putting bargains on mostly unneccessary products in front of the lives of fellow human beings.

thats so unbelievably stupid, it's hard for me to believe that people would care so much about buying crap at wal-mart they would just disregard that there was someone there, and just step on them especially a pregnant woman, even though she's not the one that died. I think I would have just stopped and started punching everyone in sight if I saw someone go down like that . People really suck.

wow, i wasn't trying to sound like that much of an idiot, but I did. I was thinking along the lines of if I would have stopped to help the dude that was trampled, I would have been trampled too so I would have had to do something to stop people. I just can't really imagine a crowd that huge stampeding. And I would never ever want to work at walmart even though that was just oozing sarcasm.
 
terrible, you shouldve seen best buy today, Jam Packed. It sucked for me i had to work 6am-12. My store had a 6 hour only store, luckily it was kinda slow, but we had too many employees so my fucktard manager let some go way to early so then by 12 we were busy and I got out of there as soon as I could, man fuck black friday, shits too intense, fuckin wrentham outlets opened at midnight,

the guy is absolutely right. christmas in north america has become centralized around shopping, its just that most people haven't noticed because it's been like that for a long time. end of story.
 
Oh god forbid we forget the true spirit of christmas in favor of gift exchanges. Its a good thing not everyone shares the notion that without materialism life would somehow be more wholesome and peaceful. Any idea why our economy is so powerful (not right now but generally speaking) consumerism bitch. Its why you have a nice house and why there are all of this sweet ski gear for you to use. Take a second to think about who is paying for all of these big ski events... sponsors, who hate to break it to you, really want to sell their product.
