Will the ski culture ever take its head out of its ass? Read on..

let people say do what they want, let them act like they are from detriot even if they havent left detroit. Just let people be them fucking selves

ok what the fuck is up with people and the "ghetto" image, its not ghetto its urban, and urban is a style of wearing bigger clothes, make tricks look better and you may just feel better, i mean bandanas i think is the best way to protect your face but when you start taking it to far like acting like your from the ghetto is bad. I dont think it gives the sport a bad name. Most of the kids on this website have a strong passion for this lifesyle/culture, i dont think it "ruins" it. We have the right to wear whatever we want but acting it is a whole different story....

i agree with you, its at that point where you want to figure out why everyone is being so dumb, but there is way to many people out there so you jsut end up not caring, and I personnaly think this is the way to go, because fuck what everyone else is doing

you know people actually do have lives outside of skiing right? so taking style from your other outside sources and bringing them into skiing isn't really that big of a deal.

I agree wiht you, but I dont give a shit about what image people want to imitate. Thats their thing. Also, basing this on the evidence of the websites of the companies concerned is somewhat close minded. That aspect is really a very small part of the overall design ethics and code of each firm, and I think looking at the designs of the hardware is a much better way of guaging where we are design-wise.

....

You're kidding me right?

Uh, check your modern definition of what "freeskiing" is, then you can attempt to justify this point to me.

And Scott Schmidt's career was entirely founded on his jump on the "extreme" skiing bangwagon. When he originally started filming with Warren Miller and those guys, he was one of the few skiers at the time jumping off of shit when everyone else was trying to go as fast as they could, pursuing a race career. Maybe not "creativity" in its purest sense, but at least diversification from the norm at the time.

Creativity may not have been the goal at the time, but looking back on it, those people that were willing to do things differently are the ones with the largest hands in shaping our sport.
