Will I survive a 106 foot jump into 28 feet of water without injury?

In my hometown of Thunder Bay ONT there is a grain elevator down by the water front that is 106 feet high. It overlooks a slip of water for ships that is 28 feet deep. (I've measured both) My question is if I will be able to handle the impact of jumping off the elevator. I'm 18, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds and fairly muscular and strong. If I land near perfectly in a pencil dive with my arms crossed and legs clamped together, will I be okay?

hahah id say its deep enough and youd be good. ive seen a 80ft or so cliff that people do all the time. and you only go like 12 feet in or so.

and wear shoes. you can destroy your feet from that height if you dont land perfectly.
28 feet of water is more than enough though, if you open up under water youll go less than 15 or so feet deep. just be prepared for the impact. i have jumped off of a 65 foot tall bridge and hitting the water hurt like a bitch. from 100+ its only going to be worse.

okay. I will be wearing shoes and a wetsuit. is there any chance of being knocked out on impact, even with a perfect landing?

when are you doing this, Im going to be in thunder bay on thursday all through the weekend, and I wanna see this.

if you land perfect. but the chance of you doing that, slim. its deep enough, but 100 feet is really high. you can break ribs if you smack, pull your shoulders out if your arms arent right, break your feet, knock yourself out. you have to be on point at 100 feet, this isnt some 40 footer.

If I were you man, I would take advice from us, most of us probably haven't ever done or know anything about this. So don't go jumping with the thought that "NS Said I should be okay"

Well, if you had a perfect landing you would be good. That being said, there is a lot of technique involved in jumping from 106 feet. A person who doesn't realize that 28 feet of water is more than enough water probably doesn't have the experience.
Progress up to that, no point in getting seriously injured to impress a few buddies.

if it happens video will for sure happen. That being said I want to do my homework on it and work up to it more, so that when and if I do huck it I will walk away unharmed.

and obviously I'm not claiming I'll do it, I'm just curious if i'd have a good chance of being ok. thanks for the replies everyone!

i don't want to be a pessimist, but 100 feet is too high. what's the highest you've jumped?

oh, and 28 feet is more than enough. no way you'll go more than 15 feet under, but really..don't do it..

and dont hit the water flat footed, trust me on that one. people have jumped 100 feet with shoes on, hit the water flat footed and blown the soles out of their shoes and resurfaced with their shoes around their knees.

also watch this for motivation.

ok, good advice. I've jumped off 40 footers without issue, and I realize this one is way out of my league. That being said, it would be a project for next summer. I would work my way up higher and higher drops, until I was getting into the range of this one. On the elevator there is a ladder that goes up the side of it, that faces towards the lake. I could jump off of it at any point, so I could test myself at 40ish then 60ish then 80 etc. Anyways though, it would be an absolutely terrifying huck to take it from the top.

point your feet down and hold onto your package.

But i suggest you get some experience with some smaller jumps first.

One of my friends and another guy I know jumped off the Alexandra Bridge in Ottawa. It's 95ft high, they did it with shoes on and didn't land perfectly and as far as I know they were fine. There's a video on Facebook that I can try to link and I can also ax them more about it.
The depth isn't an issue though and stepping it up 10 feet from what these guys did shouldn't be a big deal. I think you should step up and buckle down.

ya you are definatley ok i havent jumped 106 feet but ive jumped like 70 foot and theres no way my head was more than 6 feet under water
