Will I survive a 106 foot jump into 28 feet of water without injury?

don't listen to these nay-sayers, they're just a bunch of pussies that haven't accomplished anything gnarly in their entire lives. 106 feet is fine, just wear shoes and you'll be okay.

I hope you've jumped 70 or 80 feet at least already. 106 feet isn't a huge deal if you really know what you're doing, anything over 110 though is really pushing it though. If you fuck up, you can easily end up seriously fucked up or even dead from those heights

i would make sure you have some people who know their shit with first aid, in case the worse should happen. you dont wanna end up like that spillway kid, his friends had no idea what to do. you should be able to do it if you just work up slowly though. just practice your form a lot.

that spillway kid tried to do something that clearly was not even possible, he jumped like half of what he needed to successfully make that jump.

Yeah shoes are a must. I'm not sure about over 100 feet, but I know if you're wearing shoes it's better to land flat footed from like 70 feet because apparently it can break your ankles to land toes pointed. Hopefully someone that has done over 100 can give you some proper advice

well, yeah. but without taking the stupidity of his actual jump in to account, he couldve brought some trained people with him. like who honestly did not see that coming? you'd think the kids with him would be like, wait a minute. i dont think he can jump out far enough...

don't listen to this guy. If you land flat footed you will blow the soles off your shoes and they will end up around knees and your back will be in a lot of pain.

I wouldn't do it, those things are huge and you will have no room for error. Add the risk of possibly hitting bottom (where who knows what pointy metal shit is all down there,) and it's just not worth the risk. I get scared just climbing up silos.

Well that's never happened to me but I haven't exactly jumped 100 footers either. And it's not really flat footed, I just don't point my toes

That is huge. I've never gone bigger than 50. I don't think I would go bigger than 80 even if it was super safe. That said there is a jump at one of the spots I go to that has got to be over 100 feet and although I've never seen it, I've heard tales of people doing it and being ok.

im talking about just before impact. i guess you can look at your landing the whole way down and get some nice whiplash and a smack of water in your face.

are you jumping into lake superior?
for that alone you have to be crazy, its so freezing.
also.. that seems really dangerous.

It's too cold, don't do it.

The shock of the cold water will cause your body to go into shock, and then jumping that high, don't try it right now

ohh. i thought you meant like the whole time. Like jump and look at the clouds the whole time. I've done that off of a 3M board and it feels bizarre. It makes your stomach flip lol

as soon as you hit the water and your under spread out and you'll slow down. i actually want to see this go down though, post a video

yeah bear grylls said you should keep your feet together and keep your butt hole tight because the pressure from the water can go in the rectum..... just so you know

well exactly what i described happened to a friends dad jumping "father air" at lynn canyon, said to be 100 feet. its also been documented more than a few times on other jumps at lynn.

if you could, have someone break the surface of the water as you're falling, bring a hose or something

There has been some decent advice posted. The wetsuit and shoes are a must. 28 feet may be deep enough. That is some really serious height though. The possibility of serious injury and death are present. Make absolutely sure you have someone nearby and ready to pull you out should you get knocked unconscious. Is the water murky? Fast moving? If so, definitely do not do it.

The risks are not worth it in my opinion. The extreme cliff jumps we see videos of are usually into agitated water, such as at the bottom of a waterfall. This means that there is a lot of oxygen in the water, and the surface is not a solid. You will not have this luxury. I have personally jumped 60 measured feet repeatedly, and it hurts quite a bit. There is a definite "slap" upon hitting the water. While I would jump higher, 106 feet is far outside my comfort zone.
