Wikileaks

I think the founder Julian Assange should be hunted down and shot in the streets for all to see. He is not an American and what he is doing is putting the lives of hundreds of Americans in danger. Dude wants to talk shit and start with the sleeping giant, he should get his ass put down real quick.

Some of the leaks are good, such as the Iraq and Afghanistan War ones which attempted to expose some of the human rights abuses committed by the coalition forces. However, the new diplomatic cable ones are unacceptable. Diplomatic relations are relationships that take years to build and are built by skilled individuals whose actions directly influence the well being of states, and this is not something that should be an open forum. How does leaking a list of the places of vital national security importance to the United States help?

He could of gotten away with the first leaks, but I think he has gone a bit far with these and will probably be facing some pretty serious consequences as a result.
 
he is meeting with british police in regards to a swedish arrest warrant according to his lawyer. cnn says this.
 
i'm not sure you know exactly what youre talking about. if you do, i apologize but have you actually read first hand anything that truly puts lives in danger? sounds more like a scare bit used by those who oppose the leaks

i havent really decided what side i'm on here, if any. i have mixed feelings. i will say that i'm glad that some of this information is being released. if someone can prove to me he is actually putting people in danger i will change my tune very quick, but im 99% sure they arent posting non-redacted stuff here

also not to be a conspiracy theorist but everything ive heard about his rape charges seems pretty weak and more like a smear attempt. wish i could learn more about that but really that's not the important part
 
YOU should be shot in the street for all to see. When telling the truth and exposing lies becomes a crime, something is terribly wrong with the world.
 
I think what he's doing overall is good (so long as he doesn't start releasing troop info, military secrets, etc, but he'd be killed before he got far with that anyway)

but I think he should concentrate on other countries more also. Every govt is sketchy as hell when you get down to it, its not just the US.
 
I am so down with WikiLeaks that I donated 20 Euros by PayPal, then wrote PayPal an angry letter when I found out they shut down the account and were not passing along the funds.
Big Brother is pissed. Watch the fuck out.
 
i mean sure, but the US is the leading hegemonic power in the world right now, is in two wars, and we have our nose in everything else. not exactly a weird notion to concentrate on us the most..
 
He also has many other leaks on many other countries. The cables had dirty laundry from countries all over the world and not just the US. There were many things about crazy Chinese experiments.

I really don't like to get involved in politics but Wikileaks as an organization is one thing I can stand behind and support.
 
yea, but other governments aren't exactly clean, non corrupt, perfectly functioning groups. I've said it in other threads, but I'd love to see this done to the israeli govt.

And what does this achieve? All you get out of the US govt is "ok. documents. We don't tell everyone everything. And so what...?"

people aren't as aware as we'd like to think. a lot of people born before our generation still honestly believe everything they hear, and the extent of what they hear is from the tv news.

i was just talking about this wikileaks stuff with some older people at my work. one of them goes "well, if this guy is on the run and the US government is after him, he must be a bad dude." i mean really.. that was his logic, that since the guy was on the run from govs who obviously wanted his ass, he must be in the wrong...

i'll have to read a LOT more of the leaks before i come to any conclusion, but i know i support the release of many of the iraq war documents. shady shit goes on every day and most of the idiots in this country think everything's perfectly fine. real, true, firsthand information needs to be propagated
 
just gonna point out that time person of the year doesn't prove anyone as being good, or universally loved. Just means they were significant.

Kind of wonder how they managed to get them both in a row. You think if for no other reason than not pissing off the world, they wouldn't give it to 2 totalitarian dictators successively. Though I suppose in 1938, hitler was still just a politician, though be it anti-semitic, and stalin hadn't started his "everybody dies" economy yet.

The US and most of the major politicians in this country have labeled Julian Assange a "terrorist". This is used as a scare tactic for uneducated people who just assume that everything the government tells them is true and hey if this guy is a terrorist than I guess I won't support him.

It will get to a point where Wikileaks is considered taboo to talk about (none of the major news networks in America even consider talking about it) and arguing with logic and reason will be out weighed by ignorance and name calling. Others will start to be called terrorists who support him and than fear mongering will set in. Identical to the Red Scare.
 
I happen to know there are over 200, card-carrying wikileaks terrorists operating within Hollywood at this very moment.

I fucking love Wikileaks and have been a long time reader. To be perfectly honest, I hate the idea of government and the only thing really believe in is anarchy. Seriously, I want to be able to do whatever the fuck I want. Why should I have to pay taxes to live in a home or drive a car. Why should I have to pay to ski in BC. We need to go back to the days of bartering and trading, fuck currency and fuck rights, may the best man win. Let nature take its own course. Yeah it's selfish, but it's really no more selfish than corrupt governments and tax embezzlement. You ever heard of Haliburton? Well case closed, the US is one of the most corrupt gov'ts out there, it's not only the president who makes the decisions. /rant.
 
Goodbye standard of living. This is like weeding your garden by dropping a nuclear weapon on it. A stable, modern society is possible without government and without living like wild animals. It's that chaotic "back to nature" school of thought that gets valid forms of anarchy shot down out of hand. Your ideal society would at best lead to tribal warfare and at worst brutal totalitarian states.
 
This is fucking retarded. You want anarchy, but at the same time you want to go back to basic Capitalism, and you want to get everything you enjoy handed to you. You think those chairlifts, the resort, the electricity, the people, the skis, and everything else would be there if there was total chaos? Hell the fuck no. But of course you want what you enjoy for free. I'm sure everything in your juvenile little vision of the future worked as it did now, you just didn't have to pay for shit. Why should you pay taxes? Because the roads cost money. The traffic lights, your education (though you get a pass in this category, see your original post), and your entire easy life is based on you paying taxes.
Also, how the fuck did you manage to think that bartering is not about currency? Please Baracka Flocka, include economics into the state run, taxpayer funded school curriculum, please?
 
Of course it would never work, I never said it could and it would be naive of me to think so. My post can be compared to a little girl's dream of being a princess in a castle. Of course I don't want to pay for anything, and I think it's safe to assume that you probably don't want to either.
