Why these big clothes?

So i had argue with my mom that she wont pay half of the cost of a new baggy jacket. She explained that the lenght has no purpose, you cant see what the skier is doing in the air because of the big clothes (wtf, mom) and the lenght costs more money (doble wtf mom!?) and it's harder to do tricks in it.

(idk where she has get these into his mind)

So what are some good points why baggy clothes are better. And why do you wear baggy stuff yourself?

And no, i'm not a gaper who just got his first twintips and has started skiing, i'm been skiing for 11 years. I'm just short of money and need to half the cost of my next jacket with someone.

buy your own shit? If you've been skiing for 11 years you probably have a jacket already, or can at least wait long enough with the old one until you have enough money?

That easily puts you around the age of 13 or 14, which, with proper rounding, becomes 12.

There's simply no reason why it's better, it's a style, it does the same thing as skinny clothes

A longer jacket allows for coverage of your body when you are moving around a lot. Tell her that if you are skiing and fall with a shorter jacket on it will ride up on you and get snow all inside your business. You can demonstrate this with a normal sized t shirt. Just life your arms up in the air like they would if you were rag dolling. Honestly this is one of the primary reasons Saga was created. Taller people wanting jackets that fit well and functioned well. You can also tell her baggier clothing allows for more freedom of movement. Maybe put on some tight jeans and try doing some calisthenics and show how restricted you are. Then throw on some sweatpants or mesh shorts and go to town.

In response to the "you can't see what the person is doing in the air" comment. She probably is thinking of someone competing in aerials or moguls where they critique every little body position. Try to explain to her that a huge part of what you are doing is being free to do tricks however you want. And creativity and individuality are rewarded not discouraged.

Ps. If you think 15 is such a mature age then you really should buy your own shit, you spoiled brat.

thanks saga! There was some really good points in there! And yes, she was a gymnastic athlete 15-20 years ago so that last thing is prob spot on!

I can just remember what it was like trying to convince parents why you needed certain things for the different sports you did. At one time I had a more aggressive "ski race" style helmet. Then when I started snowboarding I had to convince my mom that I needed a different helmet. They both perform the same function but there was no way I was going to go snowboarding with my friends wearing that thing haha. I was 15 at the time too. You just need to approach the situation like you actually know what you're talking about. They will respect that you're not just being a whiny little kid and probably go along with it.

personally i find baggier clothing more comfortable, mostly because you have more room to move and are less restricted

i also like having a longer jacket because it reduces the chances of getting snow down your pants or up your chest/back

hope some of that helped

There's no functionality to baggy clothes broseph. It's just style. If your mom loves you she'll buy you the cheapest jacket at the ski swap.

Wear what every you want cause its your decision. Not mine, not anybody elses. Im gonna wear a sweaty down to my knees and sag my pants like a negro cause it looks sweet and I dont give a fuck. Give your mom a nice smack on the ass for me.

Zombie apocalypse brah...that's what you tell her OP....you need freedom of movement to run fast if zombies come. Plus all that extra fabric so they have something to bite first. They guy with skinny pants is gonna get his leg munched and become a zombie while the zombies you ran into are still trying to find you in a sea of tall-t fabric. Just tell your mom she must hate you and want you to get eaten by the walking dead, then make her buy the whole jacket..and fuck it, size up one more cause you never know when the zombie apocalypse will happen.

But for real. With her price comment, just show her the price of some technical north face jackets or something. They can cost up to $600. I got my LDC jacket for $75 on their site brand new. Show her some of the costs of Blooms jackets because they are all on sale now. Saga is even cheaper than technical outerwear.

Honestly I think there is some benefit to your skiing from wearing baggy clothes. You just feel way less restricted in them compared to typical outerwear.

Im a parent to an 18 month old son. If he came up to me with a perfectly good jacket or helmet and didn't like it because of the length or color or style I'd tell he'd have to buy it. Regardless of the excuse or the way he approaches me with the situation, there is no way in hell Im going to buy him new stuff just because he doesn't like the stuff he already has. He'll be working for it until daddy says he's earned it.

To me it just seems like a bunch of whiny kids using any excuse to get their parents to cave and buy them new shit they technically don't need.

"But mom you're embarrassing me in front of my friends with this gay North Face jacket, I want the new $300 Saga like Billy has."

Dumb. Buy your own shit if you want it that bad.

That was good post, but i can't even use my last years jacket since i've grown so much in the summer.

I'm not trying to get my parents to pay me many hundreds, i'm constantly trying to find the cheapest baggy jacket. I'm an athlete so i'm used to use "small" jackets and i'm not ashamed of it.

I'm probably just going to do work at home and buy the jacket myself.

he's already getting a new jacket just he wants baggy and his mom doesn't your post is invalid also cool name 666 im sick hahah.

when I was 14 and wanted to get a baggy jacket/pants my dad told me to get a job.. and so I did.. stop being greedy either be happy with what she wants to get you or pay for it yourselfyou have 2 months until the season actually starts, plenty of time to save up for a coat.

kids these days

do if your infant child asked you to buy him a jacket, you would tell him, "no" and make him work for it... hopefully your child doesn't freeze to death this winter.

I have to buy everything for my sport, you are lucky. I like baggy because It makes me feel more comfortable, warmer, and it gives me more area to move around. And I think it looks cooler. But you sound like an obnoxious 12 year old.

The larger clothing allows you to wear more layers underneath on cold days. I'm from the Midwest and this is a huge reason why I like to get technical "baggy" outerwear.
