Why the fuck is it so warm???

i think we should just hope for the best and not worry about it. accept the fact that its probably going to be a shitty start to the season no matter what, and were just going to work with what we have for the time being.

as sad as it is, we need to learn to accept it.

dont trust the 14 day... it changes hourly. I bet by the time you next check this thread it will be different.

AGREED!!! dooooo not look at that dumb ass 14 day weathernetwork bullshit. Just stick to the whistler weather forecast cause that one is actully acurate... and were lookin good dude, temps are low and its snowing .. no rain!!!

well grouse got 5 cm today and its snowing up there, hopefully it will continue to snow all week/end.
hhah, that would be nice....

who are your sources, that sounds too good to be true

speaking of too good to be true, i just arrived in whis and theres about 10 cm blanketing the ground and trees here, and its still snowing! even if it melts im still soooooo fucking happy, i havent seen snow in so long its not even funny.

Ironically my sources said WB would NOT be opening saturday (tomorrow). Probably a good call because it's dust on rocks right now. 15cm over stumps isn't fun.

Well, I went skiing today.

It was awesome.

Diamond Head area, along Paul's ridge kind halfway between Red Heather and Elfin lakes. There was snow down at the parking lot so the wreckers and skins were on the ground from the beginning, which was really good. It looks like winter up there, and it was a really nice day. About 2 feet+ at around 1500m elevation, hit up a few chutes and gullies without hitting too many shark fins at all, although I had my rock skis anyways.

If you've got trekkers or snowshoes, head up before it gets baked this week, it's still a whole lot of fucking fun, and we still skied pow all day!

Winter rocks. Please snow more now.

well its a relief that there is enough snow to open now, and theres no rain in the forecast. took a huge load off my chest.

in response to my original statement....i was watching the weather network today and they said that this month has been 5 DEGREES above normal temperature. that is straight wack.

I NEVER WANT TO SEE A WEATHER NETWORK forecast ever again. they are soooooooooooooooooooo inaccurately wrong its not even funny. that 14 day forecast could turn to all snow and -20 tomorrow. do not look at shitty weather network. Whistler mountain forecast is accurate and knows whats up.. just look at that. The whistler one reflects nothing what the weather network says. It going to be cold stay cold, and its gonna start snowing lots.. just have faith

Its too bad that powder king is pretty much flat the bottom half of the mountain, nice up top, but there isn't too much challenging or steep terrain, also its a bitch polling through deep pow at the bottom to get back to the chair. Its not worth it. Oh, and its cold as fuck. I'm talking -45 before wind chill factored in.

Coming form someone who grew up skiing PK, sure its not steep stuff but the tree skiing at the elevator shaft and easter run with freshies all year is dope. You just gotta keep in mind the to keep going left near the halfway point.

And its generally not that cold there, I don't think they open the hills at -45, most people say fuck it at -30.

We had a sx training camp there last year early dec before it opened to the public, and it didn't get any warmer than -30 the entire time we were there... guess it's just bad luck.

NOOOOO NOT AGAIN

taken from environment canada:

Extended forecast for Whistler - Blackcomb.

Friday.. Cloudy. Scattered flurries or rain showers.

Snowfall accumulation 2 to 5 cm.

Rainfall amounts trace.

Freezing level 2000 metres.

Saturday.. Mainly cloudy. Scattered rain showers.

Rainfall amounts 2 to 5 mm.

Freezing level 2500 metres.

Sunday.. Mainly cloudy. Isolated rain showers.

Rainfall amounts trace to 1 mm.

Freezing level 2700 metres.

today, gave me new faith, not much base but plenty of freshies. two good dumps and we'll be having damn good times all over the hill

mega thin, the rain is going to make it pretty muddy...Everybody I was riding with yesterday and today got numerous core shots.

it's looking more and more like i'm gonna be skiing PK this year (starting in late dec/early jan hopefully)... fuck yeah for moving north. this city is took expensive and i can't make enough money living here (i'm not going to school next semester).

sucks about the whistler forecast though, i might ski whis a couple of times before i leave and i want good conditions...

^

you serious? You know its only open 4 days a week, that leaves 3 days of boredom only to get drunk with liftees. Skiing at PK is good times, but the terrain does get a little boring. If you're gunna take the time to be a ski bum go to kicking horse, rev or white water.

I love PK and the pow is amazing but there is nothing to do there other than skiing.

You think you guys have it bad.. it's gotta be like 60 in tahoe... which is ridiculously too warm...

I was hoping you guy's would have some early season snow, too... I had to actually cancel my trip up there because I didn't see how it woulda been worth it right now...

The west coast is hurting. Bad.

yeah, i know, but hopefully i'll be working for peace river coal, and therefore be 2.5-3 hours away from PK and working 6 days on, 6 days off. for days that PK isn't open I'll play video games or get drunk or whatever if i'm not working... or come home (12 hour drive lol). it's alright, my best friend's gonna be heading up there too, with possibly more friends to join later.

I'm not going if i don't get the job with peace river coal.

weathernetwork is claiming Friday is going to be cold, but snow-forecaster is claiming fl at 3250m on friday, so since environment Canada is somewhere in between, I'd say we can look forward to some more rain and a 2400m fl for Friday

^it will probs be a high level on friday since weather on whistler's site says "warm front comming in" but then it says "cold front" and snow on sat... so sat and the days following is are big dump!!! Lets prey

Tumbler Ridge... 2.5 - 3 hours from PK from what i can gather. If it's more I don't mind the drive anyways, cause there's almost no chance that I'd be going alone (I'm not the only one planning on moving up there, my best friend is too).

I'm having trouble believing that new forecast. It's just too good to be true. If that happens I will be in heaven. New skis, new snow, healed injuries, birthday.
Here's my prediction: It will snow, but not even close to that much. It will slowly forecast less and less snow until the whole week yields a decent, but not amazing, dump.

yeah, thats usually what happens. they start out predicting like 40 cm, and it decreases by 10 cm every day, and then we end up getting 5 cm and 10 mm of rain.

hopefully a new trend will start though....cold temps and precipitation
