Why the fuck is it so warm???

seriously, it shouldnt be 14 degrees right now. we were getting close to zero a few weeks ago. i have slowly watched the snow melt off whistler.

it makes me sad.

I'd be really sad if we had another pineapple express season like 04-05. That January sucked ass.

yeah, i remember that season, it rained hella hard in january. the almanac calls for a cold november though, and less precip than usual throughout the season.

tonight (Nov 1) should be the last night of rain in the alpine for a while. It's base building time!

Just got back from a day trip to MT. Rainier and they had a couple inches of fresh on top of snowfields to shred above the snowline at 6500 feet. Shit was cold as hell and fun fun, so just sayin...shit's comin

i was thinking the same thing- it's been warm- but this week it's supposed to be around 7 and raining. as for the rest of the season here, farmers almanac predicts a return of la nina,- that means a pretty cold wet season- i think the only worry is that we don't have a crazy early start like last year.

breaking news!

check the whistler webcams....

if you cant see it....i would describe it as covered with beautiful whiteness. and it looks like its still comin down.

Whoooo! It definitely does look like it's dumping. And it's supposed to snow up there all week!

Apart from fucking Friday when the freezing level jumps to 2300 metres, the next week-week and a half is looking pretty good.

But I agree, the warm weather is bullshit.

I've actually spouted off at a couple of people recently who have commented on what a nice fall it's been. Looking like my original prediction will come true after all, unfortunately.

this has to be one of the nicer webcam images I've seen by chance. Minus the thin base.

Whole mountain coverage... for about 12 hours or so.

Whistler - Blackcomb.

Tonight..Periods of rain.

Alpine temperature steady near plus 2.

Rainfall amounts 5 to 10 mm.

Freezing level 2400 metres.

Mountain top winds southwest 40 to 60 km/h easing to 30 to 50 km/h

in the afternoon.

Friday..Rain.

Alpine high plus 3.

Rainfall amounts 20 to 30 mm.

Freezing level 2500 metres.

Its all going to melt.. but it was pretty to look at.

i hate to be a pessimist- but now i'm worried, really worried, i mean- unless the weather turns around and we get lucky, there is a high possibility that whistler won't open on the 27th- and that's not even mentioning the shore- farmers almanac says the next week is supposed to be getting better -http://www.almanac.com/ - and enter your postal- and their prediction for the rest of the year is cold and somewhat normal precip. but it doesn't seem like that right now. dang.

yeah im sketcchin harrrd. but it said the temps were suppose to be way up and it snowed in the village 2 days ago!! the temps usually fall alot from what they are predicted i find (most times) any way +++++++++++++vibes for colder temps, we gotta PREY for colder temps!!

the farmer's almanac is not a reliable source whatsoever. Environment Canada will tell you what you need to know.

And come one, it's november 10th... That leaves 17 days for it to dump. I know everyone's anxious and excited about opening, so am I, but this is pretty normal weather. Last year all it took was a week to go from nothing to a 1m base. The storm fronts are starting to roll in, now we just need the temps to cooperate, which I'm sure they will (anti-jinx).

I wonder if I should have some kind of Ullr offering, burning old ski gear or something.

8 degrees and raining- we're almost there, if environment canada is right- then friday's going to be sick- 4-7 degrees and raining- but that's 4 day from now.

2200 metre freezing level Saturday. 10-15mm of rain in the alpine. fuck.

At this point I think I'd rather have consistently low temps so at least they could blow snow. This snow/rain/snow/rain garbage is terrible. Temps look to be above average for the next 10 days. I'm dying inside.

Patience grasshoppers, it only takes a few days of good weather to coat the mountain, there wasnt snow at the base this time last year, it will come.

I don't give a fuck about the base of the hill, there's no snow up top. Last year Whistler opened on the 17th and there was like 6 inches of pow on a damn decent base. I wouldn't be worried now if the forecast looked good, there is still 2 weeks until opening day. However, because the forecast is SHIT, I'm not even sure we'll make it to opening day. I'm not saying we need a miracle, but fuck, pretty close to it.

This is seriously getting ridiculous. Remember last year when we could ride backcountry by THANKSGIVING? It snowed good amounts in September last year...
At least I have more time to wait for my new gear to come in and my injuries to heal...

Whoa, it put in a link on my last post for no reason! Crazy. Wonder if it does it again... backcountry.

Guess we pissed off ullr.

next week is looking better, Wednesday through Saturday. But the 14 days is never accurate, and there is too much high-pressure in there for a good opening.

i've been looking out the windows at work and dying a little each time i can see peak while its pissing... and i mean PISSING. i seriously am praying for some cold, just no more rain, please! i can still see grass and rocks at fucking roundhouse, its rediculous

It's a test run of a new advertising revenue generator that isn't working very well so far. The idea is supposed to be to link when people say things like "Jibij". I'm told we're fixing it... when it'll be fixed, I have no idea.

although it's a pretty far away trend to predict, i just about jumped out of my seat in joy when i saw that. Sick!

man, i cant believe its supposed to rain again on saturday. if this continues i think we should form a support group, this is getting ridiculous and i am getting very irritable.

this is a joke. forecast says freezing level is going to rise to 2700 m on monday. waaaahhhhhhh shouldnt it have dropped to a steady temp already?
