Why not twintips

so i know that mogul skis and stuff don't use twin tips, but why aren't all skis twin tips? like the fischer ranger, those are beasts and I feel like they could benefit being twin's

A rounded tail performs differently from a square tail. Think about how taper affects a skis performance - same concept

Twins are also generally easier to release from a turn (obviously with a sharper tune this can be changed) but when skiing slalom for example, you don’t want to release from a turn. You want maximum edge grip and a sharp, square tail helps to maximize edge hold. Twins are awesome and 100% serve their purpose but there are applications where a directional tail is more beneficial :)

ooooo that explains it. i’ve skied both and i like carving but also love the poppy feeling of twin tips i guess my carving style doesn’t go as far as the pros who are using carving skis

It's like tee shirt design, different talls perform differently and are used for different purposes
