!WHY LINE WHY!

After waiting over 3 months for the elizabeths from line. having line say oh next week next week next week you will get them. i finally get them and ski them, yes they are a cool ski. but 1 month into my ownership of them the bindings started to tear out of one ski. so i brought them in and had them helicoiled bback in.

1 week later the binding tore out again. i got new holes redrilled nearly an inch from the others.. 2 weeks after that while skiing the high traverse at alta the bindings tore out of the ski again. i lost the ski down the mountain. the only thing harder than finding it was skiing down with one ski on 2 poles in one hand and a binding in the other.

this is obviously a defective ski. so i called line. the girl who answered told me that wood cores dont rip out. the funny thing is that when i had them remoutned the people at the shop said line is an idiotic company not to put a mounting plate in the ski to help hold in the binding. they said the ski can flex too hard and just make the holes weak.

k2 had this same problem with the fujatives. but k2 admitted fault and fixed the problem. and the skis that broke,,... as far as i know.

line wont admit they are wrong and they pushed blame on the people who mounted them. a place who mounts 20 pairs of fat skis per day. their response was simply wood cores dont rip out.

how could i expect to get my skis or just one ski replaced by a company who cant afford to pay their own team so they all get dropped. line used to bend over backwards for us customers, and i didnt see it now. my advise to you is to get some other companys skis people who are better with their warrantys consistantly not just the first few years of operations. i will never buy another pair of line skis.

I had my Look's rip out of my Publics this year. I got them heli-coiled and they snapped right were the heli-coil was about a month later. I think I'm going to get some Salomon 912's or 914's on my Elizabeths.

i have never had a look rip out of anything other than this ski. ive used k2, and dynastar and last years lines before they cut costs to save a little cash. like not putting mounting plates into skis.

You'd think with a more expensive ski like the Elizabeths they wouldn't cut corners.

Anyone know if this'll be a problem for the 06/07's? Long shot, but maybe a dealer has more info

hey theres no reason to start hating on line, they have been making solid ski's for a long time, they have been having problems with this seasons stuff and they realized this and took back literaly hundreds of skis at a huge cost to them, so befor you start spouting random nonsence, think about what your goin to say

I am an ex-Line lover, mo ship flites could not stop delaming and Line loves to say glu them back together. When I had blu and orange skogens in HS, they got smoked and line sent me new ones, green, where are they headed with this shit. Wood cores rip out like little dicks in whores on those rough switch crashes.

call me a dumbass but I still love line, get some, hopefully Line had a rough year and will change quickly.

WHAT?!?!

this is too real. i had the EXACT same thing happen to me. Look p12 bindings rip out like a motherfucker. they pulled out of my elizabeths so i had em helicoiled and TWO DAYS later they ripped out again.

i figure its probably the screw pattern with looks becuase they were designed for racing skis which are narrower so they have a narrow ass screw pattern. the stress is just too much, especially when buttering and stuff.

and not buttering on a ski like the Elizabeth is just a damn sin. SUCH fun skis

is this only on the new px bindings? or on old Looks as well? I have never had it happen to me, but I agree that the screws are too close together for a fat ski. I mean, if the bindings rip with heelcoils, come on...

whenever mounting with an older pivot binding, its best to have the screws epoxied in. the close drill pattern creates a huge cantilever, which just pulls on the screws like mad.

the new px binding on the other hand has a large drill pattern, so it doesnt really happen.

but always get bindings epoxied in. it doesnt hold the screws, it just helps prevent the wood from breaking

^very true.. always use glue in the holes when mounting. ALWAYS!!

only problem with the PX's is that they pre-release like its their job. I had them on 10.5 and they kept popping off randomly. stupid.

oh shit, if that happens to me im going to kill someone. i have elizabeths and scratch 140's. my skis were mounted wrong, and so i was without them for like 2 months, and now if i get them and they just rip out i think i will have to rage on someone.

fucken a dude I had the same exact problem, i had a pair of pollard pros and within the first 30 or so days the bindings ripped out, so i had them remounted, they ripped out again, had them remounted again, once ag ain the rip out.Got them remounted again and the ripped out again. at this point i was very pissed and got them warrantied. unfortunelty line didnt have any skis for warranty so i had to settle for either store credit or a pair or 0506 motherships that had been mounted once, not looking to wait for a few months for skis i went with the motherships. i mounted them up and what do you knoow a week or two into riding them the binding ripped out again. and also within this time the tip delaminated. so i figured maybe its my ski and not lines weak ass cores. nope wrong again mounted the skis with different bindings and within a week or two those bindings started to rip out. so now i'm stuck with another pair of crappy weak core line skis that keep ripping out. will line warranty them for me, they said maybe they'll take a look at them. fucking shit fuck, line needs to get it together their customer service and product has been going to the shitter the last couple seasons i hope they figure it out soon otherwise i wont be supporting htis pioneering company anymore.....

so your bindings ripped out of the elizabeths I haven't mounted mine yet would reactors work better cuz u can use the holes or what I dont want me elizabeths to get fucked up

Well the obvious choice is reactors. I loved mine, but since they are discontinuing them, I'd say 4frnts are the best choice. Super light, strong, good screw pattern. cool looking, and a damn good release from what i've seen.

that or FKS's.

I loved my reactors. But with more than 220 days on them they are a bit tired. I will cherish the memories we had together.

the look pivot jibs were helicoiled and epoxied in the second and third time. they were wood glued in the first time. the ski is a piece of crap. any company that makes a ski with out a mounting plate is asking for trouble. but i guess u can just deny a loyal customer warranty because its not your fault that u didnt put a mounting plate in the soft flexing ski making the bindings blow out.

the skis had 1 park day on them.... come on. the kid who asked if he should get lines. honestly no you shouldnt. because if you have something bad happen to them, they probably wont warranty them.

^they've warrantied every pair I've ever seen. Howabout everyone here just learn from this guys mistake and don't use p10/p12/p14's on their soft skis. Especially fattys.

how are yours prereleasing? Mine would but they only did toe prereleases because my boots were worn down. Once i got some replacement soles on my boots, they wouldnt come off for the life of me.

on another note, a ski without a mounting plate is seriously just going to cause trouble if you ski hard at all. Its sick because on my trouble makers, there was a thicker plate of metal, plus I epoxied them in... theyll never rip out (if they do ill lose all hope)

My boots were fine. I do believe they were releasing on the toe. They were on prophets is maybe why they did it so easily though... however I have friends who have them fly off as well. I dunno what their deal is.

that sucks man. The onyl other thing I could think of is there wasnt enough forward pressure. That little yellow gauge on the heel track isnt the greatest indicator. I have mine to the point where there is just a tiny tiny bit of yellow visible

the bindings were dialed in fine. ive used pivots my whole life never had a single problem....... any other arguements to support line skis???

this is why u buy skis that are made with quality in mind and not cost cutting procedures, such as no mounting plates...cmon thats a joke...a $600 pair of skis should not do this in multiple situations, screw line, go volkl

I could also argue that I've seen tons of Volkl's blow apart. Everyone has a preference, and on the internet, there's always someone who's seen a certain brand perform like shit.

A few years ago I broke a pair of dragons and skogens which were both replaced pretty quickly. CS was good.

BUT....I also know someone who broke some moships in a few days. Emailed Jason, who wouldn't help. He then posted about it on TGR and Jason posted back basically being a total bitch.

that was kind of it for me.

Jason could have been very cool and replaced the ski to someone who would have been a repeat customer. He had and loved the 192 moships. But Jason kind of ignored what was a warrantiable issue and, IMO, lots a lot of respect.

whatever though. It is his company.

BTW....on3p bitches.

Line may be broke, seems to be the rumour that has stuck all winter, why else would they go from great warranty in 2002-2003 to terrible warranty now, makes no sense to me.

They definitely have a great warranty. Anything we need to send back, they never question it. And they are not going out of business. If you hear something from a friend of a friend on the internet, it's likely not true.

Ok maybe know haha, but if u read threw this u wont read a lot of postive stuff. I wont say Line is bad. But most skis from line arent good for most people...

i was thinking about buying some look bindings. will the narrow screw pattern affect my PE's or will they be OK since they have the mount plate and they are stiffer.

i'm dont know if anyone said this already, but its not that line can not afford their team, its just that they felt that they wanted to have the future of the sport on there team, not mike nick who wont be compeating and winning comps. if you think about it, it only makes sense, also pollard and ash could go to any company, but why do they stay with line, because they choose to.
