Being attacked by a woman is very different from being attacked by a man. Being attacked by someone in their 50's is a lot different from being attacked by an 18 year old. Being attacked by someone who is 5'10 and 160 pounds is a lot different from being attacked by someone who is 6'4 and 300 pounds. I've never been hit by an 18 year old, 6'4, 300 pound man before, but I imagine it's just as scary if that person is white as it is if he is black. Not saying race wasn't a factor, but there are a lot of other factors that are easily measurable that people don't/aren't talking about.
It's been turned into a white vs. black issue, but it could just as easily be a male vs. female issue, a young vs. old issue, a big person vs. small person issue, or a wealthy vs. poor issue. I don't know the data for sure, but I'd be willing to bet a lot that there are many more men than women sentenced to jail in the country, many more young people than old people, and more big people than small people. All of these are bigotry in a way, and it's impossible to know which of these played a role in Brown being shot, and which didn't. Again, not saying race wasn't a factor, but I don't think it was the only factor the way many people make it out to be.
