Why do people like Tim Tebow?

I'm sure no one will agree but he is an exemplerary human being. Say all you want about it all being an act, but he is one of the few role models left in professional sports. I do not believe he is an NFL caliber quarterback, but you cannot hate on his personal life

I find it hard to hate the guy. He takes his shit seriously and while I am in no way religious I like seeing him work hard and put all he's got into the game. He's certainly not a quarterback, I honestly think he'd make a good fullback/tight end, but you can't argue with 3-1. Orton's 1-4 is fucking embarrassing for the Broncos, season after season of shittiness deserves Orton to lose his starting job. Keep Tebow in. He might not be a good passer, but I haven't seen many stop his run game with the exception of the Lions.
 
you know what, i agree.

i don't hate the guy either, i think he's a bit goofy and certainly overly religious, or rather he overdoes the whole making sure people know he's religious bit, but yeah he does seem like a real good dude.

good quarterback or not, nobody can deny he's worked harder than most on a daily basis to make it to the NFL. just my opinion
 
he's 3-1 argue with that. He has to drastically improve his passing game yes, but so far his running game is what is getting him W's. Analysts say the spread option look can't work in the NFL, Tebow is single handedly proving them wrong and I love it. Jeez he has only started a few games in the NFL and people are all up in his shit about he can't do this and he can't do that, hey hows Blaine Gabbert and other QB's doing. Newton has won 2 games out of 9. GTFO and give Tebow a break already I'm so sick of it. If your an NFL coach you would be lying to say you wouldn't want him in your locker room
 
They ran 64 plays. 56 running and 8 passing. 2/8 passing. That won't keep working. Plus they beat the Chiefs, the 0-5 Dolphins, and McGahee beat the Raiders. Tebow is really 0-1
 
I agree, but if they give the kid some time i think he will turn the team around, as a broncos fan id much rather watch him than orton any way, he has already gotten us back into the playoff picture (yes the division blows) and he is a class act
 
Did the Chiefs stop him from running? No. Is he 3-1 as a qb? Yes. Did Tebow run better than McGahee against the Raiders? Yes. Tebow ran 118 yards on 13 carries while McGahee ran 163 yards on 20 carries. Tebow beat the Raiders, McGahee had a great game though.
 
the chiefs are 4-5 and beat the Chargers who competed with the Packers until the end of the game so the Chiefs arent as bad as they are made out to be, without Cassell and Jamaal Charles they aren't going to be very good anymore. Tebow also beat them without McGahee and Moreno. This isn't college football where a win against a lesser opponent is worth anything less. A win is a win. People love to criticize Tebow. Whether he succeeds in the NFL or not he is still going to be my favorite athlete. Tebow for life
 
He can be your favorite athlete, no problem with that. I loved watching him play at Florida. However he is not a quarterback. He sucks. He can't throw the ball for dick. The only redeeming quality of his throws is that they're so bad that even the defender can't catch them. The dude is trash. A win is a win but they don't beat Oakland without McGahee, they played a trashed Kansas City, and with Orton they wouldn't have gone into OT against Miami. Take it from someone who watched every Raider game without a 300 yard passer since Gannon. You can't consistently win without passing the ball effectively. You aren't going to get 200 rush yards a game. It just isn't going to happen. Tebow is fun to watch but he is a glorified fullback. I like him but don't tell me Tebow is winning games. He may give the drive to others that puts them over the edge with his intensity but he is not the reason they won those games
 
Tebow ran better than McGahee and beat the Raiders. They still would have beat Oakland without McGahee, he just poured it on at the end of the game. With Orton starting they would possibly have beaten Miami, but would have lost to both Kansas City and Oakland. Gannon sat in the shadow of a much better Denver qb. Face the facts.
 
Tebow did not run better than Mcgahee in that game. I watched the whole thing. They were only ahead by a touchdown when McGahee put it away. You obviously missed the point about the Gannon thing. And what Denver QB are you talking about? Jake the Snake? Because that's who was quarterback when Gannon led the Raiders to the Super Bowl
 
Tebow is not the reason they are 3-1 in the past four games. The real reason is the defense. Their play has really improved over the past four games. Look at the average points scored by the broncos with Orton as quarterback compared to Tebow. With Orton as quarterback they scored 20.6 points per game. With Tebow they have scored 20.75. That seems pretty much dead even to me.

dude just wins. its ugly and wrong but it gets the job done. It seems like he literally WILLS his teams to victory.

That, and the fact that he is possibly the best person in the NFL make him hard not to like.

And he doesnt throw the religous stuff in peoples faces, the media popularized his unorthodox upbringing, and it made him a lighting post for the super christian and super atheist. i thought that was common knowledge by now?
 
1) He is 3-1. I dont know how or why but for some reason when he plays the broncos win

2) He is an a around good person and very nice guy. Probably the most likable professional athlete.
 
He definitely does throw the religious stuff in everyone's face. Not to say its wrong, but you are incorrect. John 3:16 on his eyepaint on just about every Gators game. Him and his family made a Pro-Life commercial that aired during last years BCS bowl. I could go on.
 
he started last year too and there he didnt do horseshit. he needs that read-option thing and this wont work very long.

just wait for the jets game. the jets are prolly my least favourite team, but they will light him up. revis will probably cover two guys on every play, he would be wasted on one receiver, lolz

he wont throw over 150 yds and probably will get hurt sooner or later with this style. the gold standard for running qbs right now is vick, and vick at least has the speed to get OOB sometimes and can slide after a first down. tebow is a "bruiser" and has to run over guys for a first down. that wont work in the long run.

yes, i know, he has 3 wins, but this shit wont work full time.

i know the eagles tried with mcnabb/vick, the broncos also tried their special packages with tebow/orton and it looks bad, but i am not sure if this wont work: like get a better passer who is still somewhat athletic (someone in the range of cassel or so) and put packages in for both guys. i know it probably wont work for all those "leadership" issues but teams havent really tried it over a full season. when both QBs are reasonably athletic, you could have them on the field all the time and tebow could switch from TE to wildcat QB or stuff and go no-huddle.

patriots are successful with their no-huddle because hernandez and gronk can in fact play WR, TE and FB, so creating even bigger mismatches could be created with a QB gone TE.
 
Color me jaded but the people most adamant about their do-gooding are usually the ones that are the most hypocritical. If he just acted like a "normal" person I would like him more. Self-righteousness will only make it that much more scandalous when it turns out that he has 9 kids or something.
 
I agree completely. Also, he just has a great attitude. He doesn't throw a hissy fit when things don't go his way; he just works harder.

Yes, there are QB's with better arms, but Tebow is a winner and he has more heart. He is a scrapper and he will find a way to win. Orton was very accurate and very efficient, but he wasn't winning.

It seems like every day I hear about another Bronco player getting busted for assault, DUI, rape, etc. It's great that we have at least one player that we don't have to worry about.
