TikTok sucks and I can't stand actually watching it, but I let my fiance run one for me because it's by far and away the easiest platform to get a lot of views on, which leads to brand deals, with leads to $$.

If you want core skiers to be a fan of, go to your local shop and ask to talk to the shop guys. They probably won't tell you about the sick spots they know about.

Pro skiing is only real on the sanctioned competition circuit, and Hackel is a beast pro skier.

Everything else is independent contractor brand ambassador work. It's a tricky industry to navigate for models, actors, influencers, and athletes.

When you put all your eggs in the pro athlete basket, you got no choice but to try to be all those things so you can make enough money.

Most people don't understand how the game works.

The only ways to fight it are to have enough independent wealth through a separate professional career or trust fund so sponsorships are just a vanity thing

OR

have a huge audience and influence so you independently make money on views and sponsorships are just a vanity thing or a way to amplify views.

Personally, I think it takes more time and energy to do the influencer thing than it does to work a lame job. And a lame job pays more and is more sustainable in the long run. Also, tik tok doesn't pay content creators like YouTube or Google ads on a web page do
