Who likes droppin knees?

"Telemark" - Norwegian for "Hey guys, wait up!" Except in the northern regions, where it translates to a verb, "to faceplant"
"Drop the knee, drop the sexual preference.""No, I've never tried tele, but I've never tried s'ing the d either. You don't have to try it to know it sucks""Tele skiers are like drunk sorority girls: they fall on their face when they try to get on their knees"
"Half the binding, half the speed, half the fun, quadruple the excitement!"
lock the heel, ski for real.

think you hit this on the nose...no one gets more excited over a tele'r than another tele'r...i've never heard two guys get so involved in a conversation with each other...

unlike most newschoolers that would rather just talk about themselves all day on the internet.....

we are all sliding down the mountain having a good time. whether it be alpine, tele, snowboard, skiboard, snowbike, sled dogs, snow skates, shit even a toboggan. we are all on the mountain for the same reason...

if you have a smile on your face at the end of the run it doesn't matter what is on your feet on the way down.

"It’s official, telemark skiing is now just another way to slide downhill at your favorite resort, along with snowboarding, tubbing, fixed-heel alpine, or riding a cafeteria tray…
...telemarking is now hip. It’s just plain stylish to be genuflecting down the slope where everyone can see you." - Lou Dawson
"There is an unspoken cultish aspect among telemarkers. Nowhere is this more apparent than when a big group of telemarkers come together and form a posse." -Rocky Mountain News, 2007http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/winter_activities/article/0,2777,DRMN_23946_5429476,00.html
"...if telemarking skiing is a cult, that could explain much." - Lou Dawsonhttp://www.wildsnow.com/651/backcountry-skiing-news-roundup-19/

360 a cliff on teles, have style on teles. im not trying to be a dick or hate. i think it would be super useful going up but ive never really liked the look of tele skiers

you dont like the look of them? this is a prime example of the ignorance of todays skiers learn about skiing before logging onto a skiing site

so like, i youtubed Tele Dub cork 12 and nothing came up..

Anyone who finds me that video I will admit that Tele skiing is cool.

HAHAHA, really?just because you can't find a video on youtube means that a sport isn't cool?you're dumb.
Kjell Ellefson- straight up kills it tele style. I would love to see you try some of this...

Balance / practice. I can tele switch pretty good now (like actually making switch tele turns) but landing switch is really hard, especially on larger jumps.

Props to telemarkers...not my thing, but I would love to try it sometime on a pair of twins. Does seem very practical though. Telemarkers who are really good, like the guys in the video posted are awesome, but I think that its waaay harder to get that good at telemarking than at alpine skiing, so there are more people who suck, and therefor way more hate. Do what you enjoy, when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what people think of you, but if you enjoyed your life.

No dude, you've got it all wrong, go ask Trine, Telemark is Norwegian for "trolling for rocks with your knees"

^^^respect.
I had no idea there was so much love for tele'rs on a forum known for haters. Clearly no one here does any randonee, where tele'rs are the blunt of every joke.
Those granola eating stinky hippies.

telemarking is just another way to enjoy snow. i don't like snowblading, you don't like telemark. but either way we're all out there giving it our own on snow.

as for binding questions.... just like alpine, stuff has progressed. Think of tele binding stiffness like din settings. Bomber Bishops and hammer heads are rediculously active. Even with trying to get my knees to my top sheets with my bombers I'm still a good 4" off. G3, 7TM, and Rotefellas are going to be more passive. Because telemarking does have a large crowd, with people of a wide rage of ability and variety, some people will prefer certain bindings. That being said, some telemarkers are just learning or will be super old school... just like alpine.

telemarking is like longboard surfing. alpine is like short board.

that looks so sick. I would love to be able to tele but I think i would have to train my legs a bit more, looks like a lot of work on the legs.

Tele skiing is so sick. I remember I was at Tamarack Resort awhile back when it was still open and a tele skier was in the pipe killn it.
