For some reason it pissed me the fuck off they won. I mean besides that i almost got a seizure from watching their shitty ass performance, who had a male singer screaming at a pitch that no man should ever be able to reach. Their fucking music sounded awful, how the fuck do they win the biggest award and no1 knows who the fuck they are.
 
arcade fire winning gave me some hope in the grammys. i was bummed that kid cudi didn't even get nominated though.
but i was under the impression that arcade fire is fairly well known? obviously not even close to as popular as lady gaga or eminem, but they've been on the indie radar for a long, long time now. anybody who claims to know music should at least know who they are and a song or two.
 
I thought the exact same thing....when i saw their first performance, i was like wtf is this garbage, and then when they came out with the bikes i had to turn the channel.
 
I love Win's reaction....what the hell? oh well we love music so we are going to play another song.
 
The ignorance of the people on that site just pissed me off. Yeah Arcade Fire actually write their own songs - and songs that are actually good. The Grammys is a popularity contest. This seems to be one of the few exceptions. Also, is any other artist on the list of nominees cpable of writing more than one good song per album? I doubt it. They are all one hit wonders. And an unkown band? They are headlining multiple music festivals this summer and topped record sales with the suburbs in the UK (I think). And damn straight. I am mad.

Anyways, congratulations to Arcade Fire for winning a well deserved Grammy.
 
all those people on that site would probably get confrontational if you said that arcade fire deserved to win to their face.
 
Okay, I'll give it to Eminem, he is an artist that does write good songs, but I was referring more to the other nominees. I did not mention that in me response anywhere.
 
Okay I like Arcade Fire as much as the next hipster but saying Eminem and Lady Gaga only have one good song and are "one hit wonders" is kind of ignorant. Don't ya think?
 
yeah... I thought they were well known as well. I guess they aren't top 40 club shit so people don't care?

Our society is in a sad place right now if the majority of people have never heard of Arcade Fire and are straight up mad because they won album of the year and Lady Gaga didn't. Since when was Lady Gaga cool?

the whole top 40/pop music can go fuck itself as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't watch the grammy's, so all my information is from this thread alone.

on a side note - Black Eyed Peas can go fuck themselves as well.

Arcade Fire has a real Blurrish vibe in their production. I listened to four songs just now and liked them all. And yeah, I thought they were pretty well-known?

I already said that it didn't apply to Eminem. I don't like him, but i kow that he can write a good song. Fine, more than one hit per album, but if you look at anybody's ipod they most probably have only 5 songs from Lady Gaga. Out of a 13 song album, how many people actually know all of the songs on that album?
 
every single person who saw the where the wild things are trailer. they don't know who the artist is, and they don't know the song name, but it proves that they've had plenty of exposure in the past.
 
when was the deadline for album release date? very surprised kanye, and slightly surprised cudi did not get nominated.
 
i listen to far from mainstream music ... so i do know. i'm just saying. they probably just won because being a hispter is facking cool. hahaha
 
GTFO...... best ALBUM of the year, not song..... then again all people care about is "songs" thanks to mp3s..... getting nominated for it was great, can't believe they won, gives the grammys a little more credibility. Can't wait for Radiohead's new album.
 
That album is honestly amazing.

First song i ever heard by them a few years ago was Rebellion (lies). and it still never gets old

finally in a time period where music is pretty much shit, a small light glows.

Also Muse, Black Keys, and Them Crooked Vultures won awards too. All solid bands
 
How many people actually know all the songs on most of the shit they listen to? Do you know every single song on every CD of every person you listen to?
 
or because compared to Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, eminem, and lady antebellum. Arcade Fire actually put out good music.

I'm honestly not suprised none of you kids know who the Arcade Fire is but it gives me hope for major award shows. Possibly they received the award because The Suburbs was easily one of the best albums of the last 5 years? Everything about it was just fucking amazing, from individual songs to the flow of the entire album. They deserved it.
 
I wasn't saying I was better than you douchebag. I don't care if someone just listens to a few songs - I personally like listening to whole albums.

maybe its cuz im canadian but basically everyone i know has heard of arcade fire, theyre huge here.

and i fully think they deserved to win, im kinda glad of the shitstorm it provoked too
