Who is Arcade Fire??

arcade fire is awesome and im pretty sure theyre was a powder segment in pretty good or something im not sure but i know arcade fire is amazing

they are sick. they suburbs is such an awesome album. i was pumped to see them win last night and then play ready to start, great song

this. there's gonna be the "yeah i'm so gangsta fuck other music besides rap" kids that are all mad that a rapper didn't win and that not everyone likes eminem and that we're disrespecting rap or some shit.

what i find funny is people complaining that justin beiber or some other pop crap should have won.

I thought Arcade Fire was relatively well known as well. They headlined at Red Rocks (biggest outdoor venue near Denver) about 4 years ago. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry put out insanely overproduced and unoriginal songs, who can honestly like those songs for anything beyond what they are: pop drivel.

I know who they are, just never cared about them.

"The Suburbs was easily one of the best albums of the last 5 years" lol

In a way I am kind of relieved to see that the uneducated masses aren't now going to become overnight Arcade Fire fans. i was incredibly stoked when they won, but I was a little worried that they would become too main-stream or something (insert hipster kitty here) but from what I've seen, I have nothing to worry about.

how do people not know who they are, they were interviewed in rolling stone and there's been lots of stuff about them on tv. they were on the daily show too.

ha what? has no one seriously heard of arcade fire?

it was to my knowledge that they were a well known band

arcade fire is pretty well known in the pnw. Then again, the population of indie and hipster folk is through the roof. That said, I don't like that indie & hipster shit. But I also don't care that they won, because it is the fucking grammys.
As depressed Homer Simpson hands off his grammy to nerd, he says "wow! an award statute! Thats... oh it's a grammy" and throws the piece of "garbage" from the balcony. That about sums it up.

I've always thought Arcade Fire was well known. At least around my school and here they are. I don't think they should have won, but better them than beiber or lady gaga.

yeah your laughing now but what you don't realize is that it actually is. if you knew anything about good music than you would appreciate how well made the suburbs is. and who gives a fuck if they're "hipster indie fags" they do they're own thing, and its working. just like lady gaga and eminem, although i don't know how lady gaga is famous her music is horrible.

How have so many people never heard of Arcade Fire?

Blows my mind that there are actually people out there who think Lady Gaga should of won..

one thing i don't understand is how so many people thought they were called The Suburbs. I didn't watch the Grammys, did they not make it clear which was the album name and which was the artist name?

stoked that they won, The Suburbs was a fucking well thought out and executed album. I think the cutoff date is september, which means MBDTF will be in next years awards, probably taking album of the year if nothing eclipses it over the next 8 months.

Arcade Fire is fantastic. I certainly think they deserved the win. And I'm definitely not saying Eminem and Lady Gaga aren't talented, because they definitely are, but I think that The Suburbs was a better album than either of theirs.

I just don't get why everyone is so damn ignorant about music. Broaden your horizons, and care to know a thing or two about music in general before you go saying that something is shitty, just because it doesn't suit your taste doesn't mean it isn't good music.

I'm pretty psyched, I love Arcade Fire. But whether you think they deserved it or not, the shit that usually wins doesn't deserve to win either.

Funeral= Possibly the best ever debut album (don't think arcade fire EP counts) Neighbourhood 1 is my most played song on iTunesNeon Bible= Equal to funeral which is an amazing achievementSuburbs= Unbelievable, and surely silenced all remaining scepticts.
Even though here in england they still haven't really broken in to the mainstream, and i'm not sure if they ever will, they are super popular and i'm stoked to see their effort being acknowledged.
Saw them live at leeds festival last year and i honestly don't think i've been in more awe.

Don't get me wrong, I like a diverse range of music, but a lot of popular stuff these days is overproduced, autotuned bullshit. Straight up.

Oh no no no no no I wasn't saying that all.

It's just disappointing when so much music is just produced BS that has no sort of instrumental talent involved.

Lady GaGa, Eminem, Beiber, Black Eyed Peas, etc.

Turn off the radio.

Arcade Fire is completely deserving. Just because they're not on Seacrest's top 40 and media fixations doesn't mean they aren't any good.

I was so glad when they won. I can't say they are my favourite group but I think they are well deserving, talented musicians.

people havent heard of the arcade fire? every other dickbag in college wanted to tell me all about them i feel like, had no idea they werent well known. and dont try a hipster joke, it's not like that at all, i cant name a single song by them

i love the arcade fire... i'm not sure if anyone knows but its okay if a non pop artist wins something...

whenever I get into an argument with anyone about the state of popular music, I always bring this point up. We still listen to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Who, etc. after 40+ years. Will we be listening to Bieber and Gaga in 5? Hell no. Look at the Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCartney, etc.

Plus the musicianship...oh god.

First of all, nearly all ya'll need to stop using the word hipster. This word has absolutely no definitive meaning in the context it is usually used in.
Second of all, for everybody who thinks music is "going down the shitter." Indie music is the most popular it has ever been. And we have the biggest of variety of music that has ever existed.
And lastly, DON'T speak in terms of music as a thing that has concrete characteristics. Music is the most abstract artform that exists and doesn't need to be put into categories that don't exist.
