A new A&W store just opened up by my place and i applied for no reason, i got the interview. Is working at a fast food place really that shitty as some people make it out to be? I was just wondering if i should take the job or not. And just so you guys know, this is my first job and all i have is volunteer experience on my resume.

out of all the fast food places you could work at, A&W is probably the best one. its not as shitty as mcd's or bk and has real food. have fun man, get that dough

whaaaaat?

if i was the manager id fire your ass before you even started. that is a sin. especially at A&W

i personally never have never will....much rather do physical labour then ever work at a fast food....closest i ever worked to fast food was a bagel/coffee shop so not really the same but i guess if you got no experience anywhere else you gota start somewhere

my friend works at mcdonalds. he says that it sucks, the managers are jackasses, and they give him shitty hours. he has also gained like 15 lbs and he is a small kid (5'6").

stocking is alright, but bagging sucks.

I worked as a bagger for 1 1/2 shifts before I quit. The scanners took bagging way to serious, I get yelled at too much, so I quit.

getting to get like free meals at fastfood is the shit and once you try AandW rootbeer you will deff like it.

my suggestion is this:

if you like a certain type of food, don't work in a restaurant that serves that kind of food, because it will ruin it for you.

that being said, if you don't really care for A&W that much, go for it. if its your favorite place to eat, i might reconsider

yum inc is the shit. i mean you cant get better than a&w, taco bell, KFC, and long john silvers and pizza hut. im sure if its a new place it cant be that bad.

yeah ive actually never eaten at a and w in my life. i see all my friends eat it but its just like mc donalds so i always skip it. anyways im gonna pass on this job. im going tomorrow to hand in my application and resume at a few grocery stores. i got no experience whatsoever, but im handing my shit in LAMINATED.

i worked at a piggly wiggly once. i just threw shit on the ground and went to the back and ate it all. then my manager told me to go across the street and get the mail. i laughed in her face and left.

it can be fun if the people there are fun

i worked at wendys for almost a yes until i got fed up

it all just matters on the people at first i had really chill managers and our shifts would just be telling jokes and shit

and then some new ones came in and they just worked us so much harder

it can get really stressful and you really realize how gross the food is sometimes

but hey its a good first job it was my frist one to

no restarurant job is fun -

That being said you could be managing a&w inside a year if you wanted to, decent money, horrible smell.

If I were you I would be a busboy at an olive garden or something, that is what I did - serving and bartending turned out really good through college. It is a good start becuase it is not fast food or dishwashing - and you can move up fast if you just tell them you want to. Tips + hourly is a good combo.

I worked at Qdoba, that was a tight job. Tons of free food, and it is really good quality shit. People didn't fuck around with food at all either, at least at the one I worked out.

busing tables is where its at, tips every night and good hours...tips can vary on weekdays though...Thursday Friday and Saturday are whats up.

i kinda work with fast food. i work at Kernels popcorn. its pretty sick. and its not shitty at all. i even geet comission

i work at mcdonalds. the actual work is shitty, but it all depends on who you work with. obv you wont really know anyone when you first start but you make friends quicktimes and then work is easy and chill. plus if its your first jib take it, donalds is like my 3rd job. beggars cant be choosers

i used to work at mcdonalds. it isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be but i bet you cant stay much longer than 2 years there without loosing your mind. i worked for 2 years and was going to kill myself if i had to work another day. but the first year was good.

the money blows but it is money after all. so when it comes down to it. it gives you good experieince which you clearly need, and will put money in yo pocket.

I work at Tim Hortons.. it's fucken bitch.. I should be there now but I called in.. very nice

thats why you work in the produce department.. Way slacker and most don't require you to do customer service.

A bunch of my friends worked there, I applied too, but backed out at the last minute, thankfully. They said it was horrible, and all ended up quitting in like 2 months. Apparently after making the tuna, you never want to eat it ever again. They said its like a gigantic bag of mayonaise that you just plop in with some tuna. And just other stuff that is not as fresh as it is made out to be. And the indians who order the "Wedgy Pattys" (Veggie Patties).

You guys should try slanging whores and crack. It's much more satisfying and you can always retire and become a rapper, even if you're just a scrawny white boy!

well i bus at a regular restraunt and i end up smelling like shit anyway. but yeah money is money so i'd say go for it.

many people don't realise that mcdonalds offers such great training and experience, that future managers/employers really do take notice of.

It really does have one of the most highly recognised training systems in the world.

i work at pita pit...i feel like an idiot, its the lowest paying job i have ever had by far. In grade 9 i was making 13$ and hour, 15 after that....22 the last 3 summers and now i am down to $8 an hour...its shit, but such a different kind of job. I am starting to hate customers though.

i worked at wendys for a long time. it was fun cause it was usually me, 3-5 other kids and a stoned manager. so we screwed around a lot. ice fights in the dinning room when nobody was around, screwing around with drivethrough people. and the actual work isnt even that bad.

oh and tips are the fucking shit also if you get them, i only get like 8 bucks a night which seems like nothing but it easily pays for gas and food if u budget it decently, ive worked at that place for about 5 months and have only taken cash out of an atm once and that was to buy a snowboard, all the rest is tips that i spend on anything i need.

It really depends on who you're working with. If you have a lot of young, cool people fast food can be a hell of a lot of fun because people tend to take the job a little less seriously and you can fuck around, talk, etc. I loved my first year at McDonald's because it was like that. If it's a lot of older people who treat every job like it pays six figures (besides the fact that older people are usually less fun to talk to) then it's going to suck dick.

The restaurant business in general kills you inside though, dude, believe me. You come home from every shift sore and tired, if you work too hard they take advantage of you and treat you like shit and if you don't work hard enough you get your hours cut or worse, you get fired. Your schedule is inconsistent, the hours are shitty, there's always drama in every restaurant that quickly gets annoying and stressful... it's why a huge percentage of people in the food industry smoke cigarettes. Now that my story of terror is over, the restaurant business looks great on a resume and will prepare you for pretty much any job, and as I said, with the right people it CAN be fun. Up to you...

The one I worked at, everyone was really chill, until you got in front of customers.

Once I had to make two veggie subs in a row, and I didn't change gloves in between and my manager flipped. I wasn't even touching any of the 'meat'! But there's just a background to my story.

No one uses gloves in the back. Or, no one did at the one I worked at. It was fucking gross, I always wore them no matter what. We all cut the vegetables, make the chicken teriyaki, make the tuna, etc. Just imagine whose hands have been on those!

Also, what that kid said about the tuna is SO true. Hahaha. Fuck it's gross. All we did is take out a big bag of tuna, put it in a bowl. Take out tons and tons and pounds of mayonnaise and just mix it together. I mean yah, that's how you make tuna, but if you had to make it this way it's just so awkward and disgusting.

All the peppers come in giant bags filled with their juices. You have to drain out all the juice out of the bag before you put them in those little containers. And like I said, no one uses gloves. People would drop tons of those peppers and shit into the sink, which was also occupied by dirty dishes. They'd then proceed to just put those stragglers in with the rest of the peppers.

Once again, NO ONE USES GLOVES. The onions they send us were vile. Fucking evil. I never cry when cutting an onion, but these were so intensely strong. So whoever was cutting the onions, would be crying their eyes out, wiping their eyes, touching the onions, wiping their eyes, touching the onions, and so on.

I can't say this about all subways, but that's what happened at mine. Besides the no gloves, everything was pretty clean and kept up.
