The one I worked at, everyone was really chill, until you got in front of customers.
Once I had to make two veggie subs in a row, and I didn't change gloves in between and my manager flipped. I wasn't even touching any of the 'meat'! But there's just a background to my story.
No one uses gloves in the back. Or, no one did at the one I worked at. It was fucking gross, I always wore them no matter what. We all cut the vegetables, make the chicken teriyaki, make the tuna, etc. Just imagine whose hands have been on those!
Also, what that kid said about the tuna is SO true. Hahaha. Fuck it's gross. All we did is take out a big bag of tuna, put it in a bowl. Take out tons and tons and pounds of mayonnaise and just mix it together. I mean yah, that's how you make tuna, but if you had to make it this way it's just so awkward and disgusting.
All the peppers come in giant bags filled with their juices. You have to drain out all the juice out of the bag before you put them in those little containers. And like I said, no one uses gloves. People would drop tons of those peppers and shit into the sink, which was also occupied by dirty dishes. They'd then proceed to just put those stragglers in with the rest of the peppers.
Once again, NO ONE USES GLOVES. The onions they send us were vile. Fucking evil. I never cry when cutting an onion, but these were so intensely strong. So whoever was cutting the onions, would be crying their eyes out, wiping their eyes, touching the onions, wiping their eyes, touching the onions, and so on.
I can't say this about all subways, but that's what happened at mine. Besides the no gloves, everything was pretty clean and kept up.
