Whiteface vs. Jay

I'm a Jay weekend warrior(i own a pass), and I've been to whiteface once as a kid

my dilemma: i live 5 hours from jay, and I live 3 hours from whiteface

the passes are pretty much the same price, what should I do?

btw jay does not exist, Jay riders use code language

i love jay, but i don't know if i love it enough to drive 4 extra hours (two there, two back) every time i wanna go skiing. if i were you, i'd pick whiteface.

id go to the closer i am only 45 min from Jay and i always end up skiing Burke more cause its only a ten minute drive

apperently jays supposed to get alot better this season. st sauveur sold it to some company(forgot the name) and theyre supposed to invest a ton of money on their mountain

i go to whieface a ton and its been getting sicker every year, never been to jay but heard its sick but 5 hours is pretty long

I've been to both, and Jay is just amazing for tree skiing and powder and the like, but thier park is kidna lame. kinda. Whiteface, AKA "Iceface", is more of a "bomb down the mountain at mach 10" place. The park is better than Jay's though.

So:

Park-Whiteface

Skiing-Jay

i ski whitey and its been getting better, they got some new stuff opening next season gunna be sick def worth it to go for whitey.

Really I want to post and say not to cheat on Jay.

But, I must be logical. Think about the gas prices. It's an expensive sport, and it's only getting more $$. Go with Whiteface and make Jay a special event.

at first thought i'd say Jay by a long shot... but then i look back on the two days i rode whiteface last season and actually for the 2nd and 3rd time ever skiing there rode good conditions. I used to ride face 5 times a year on average and before last season only had one good day. Used to hate it, but now I have some new feelings towards it. Park is getting better, not quite solid yet, but getting better. They're opening some new terrain that looks sickkkk, and the summit is always dope. So I'm going to say, and I never thought I would say this over any mountain in VT, go with Whiteface.

Dont go at jay... it's boring.. valhalla and the face chute are the worst trails ever, and there's no Pow(it's only rain). go Whiteface and never go back to Jay..

[ PS. : dont you love my english? ]

thanks for the comment.. by the way.. whiteface is the shit .. and jay peak is the poo

i would say whiteface for sure, it's really big and steep (3430 vertical). its icy sometimes, usally early season but when it snows it fucking snows, and it saves you 4 hours of driving so yeah id say whiteface

eh i have a gore/whiteface seasons pass

not a big fan of whiteface

however you say its a 2 hours shorter trip

do whiteface and you get gore too

whiteface is awsome... their park keeps gettin better. they added a sick dfd and tons of rails and shit.

find a partner and split the gas to jay. 3 hours vs 5..... go to jay. 2000 2001 jay peak had the most snow in the USA

ok i ski at whiteface, ive only been to jay once and it was icy and shitty, so i have a bad first impression. But whiteface will be adding a whole new section of the mountain expanding with a new chairlift. My friend, who is also the park manager, has been working up there on the trails and says they will be unreal, lottss and lotss of new glades that will only expand to the mountain that is already sick mountain.

As far as thier park goes its bene getting more and mroe solid every year, and the park staff really takes info account the rider imput. Id say there, but there is no denying jays sickness either

damn, we'll see if this is a good thing. investing money need not have anything to do with skiing, jays real estate and 'village' has always been understated which is one of the things i love about it. hope i can still buy my avila/jay Big Pass.

but whatever jay SUCKS ass anyways, i for one will NOT be goin there again this winter, im fed up with it sucking so much, see you guys at stowe! right guys?

YO dude seriously get a whiteface pass because it is a shorter drive. sick skiing, really good park, and u also get a pass to gore which has really good glades that no one knows about for pow days. There is also a sick crew of kids at whiteface and gore

is whiteface really averaging 168 inches of snow!!!!!! thta is fuckin stoopid. no question jay peak

FYI: The plan is to replace the cables on the tram this offseason. They are also tearing down the hotel and building a new and bigger one. They are making a new base area past the current tram base and planning on building a huge indoor waterpark and another hotel. Then assuming that they can get all the permits they are planning on finally cutting trails in the west bowl and putting up a lift, however don't get too excited because its supposed to only intermediate terrain (but hopefully it will open up some new glades).

Honestly Jay sucks. Its always raining up there and then it freezes over. If you like skiing on ice, Jay is the place to be. Everyone up there is snobs, tree skiing is non-existent, and its sooo incredibly expensive.

Just go to Whiteface its way better and they get sooooo much snow you wont be disappointed.

im glad jay has a lame park, less gay little snow boarders. but seiously, if people keep talking about jay im gonna shit a brick. Lift lines were bad enough last year...

dave, go to whiteface. everyonecalls it whiteface, but for real, its not that bad. when it snows, it really snows.. the glades are obviouly not like jay, but they are steep and challenging. also as jake said, the new Lookout peak is impervious to wind, and will hold snow.. but overall, its worth getting a pass. also, a lot of really good skiiers are there.. you'll get to know everyone too.
hope to see you there!

So i go to college thats 3 hours from jay and 1.5 form whiteface, and i got both passes.

When it snowed, i went to jay, and for park i went to wf. But due to the diustance of jay from me i only got 10 at jay and about 40 at wf.

O, and i got the passes real cheap, combined i spent 440.

now i have barely any money this year, so its gonna be a hard decision for me. i dont know.

Jays park was realy crappy until march. but the snow is so much better

and its true whiteface is real icy, but the park was pretty good all year long

yo man my family owns a house at jay and is close with bill stenger who is the president and now one of the owners of jay peak. I wouldnt get your hopes up about any of that stuff happening. I was just up there last week and no work was being done on the lifts also the west bowl has been in the works for the past ten or so years. As for the hotel they are supposed to start that this summer but we will see if that happens.

yea if anything jay will lose money since so many people from st sauveur wont be going anymore. i could be wrong tho theyre probably going to make it into somekind of tourist spot

Whiteface's park has gotten pretty decent the last few years. I've only been to Jay once, and got some mad powder, but the park was pretty crappy. Whiteface is usually icy, but has some sick tree skiing that often have hidden pow stashes. I would choose Whitey, but haven't skied enough at Jay to make a judgment.

i heard jay is closing down for good. not even turning the wheels on the tram once this coming year. spread the word, not even worth traveling up there

i hear gore is supposed to be putting in some new trails for next season

and the difference is definitly not worth an extra 2 hours

yeah gore is putting in a few new trails/ lift i believe.. although they get a bit more snow than whiteface, its not nearly as steep. and dont even get me started on the park

easily jay. the face chutes are the most fun thing ever when theres powder.....which there always is and theres nice rocks to hit in the woods along with the best glades ive ever ridden. I live like 5 and a half hours away and still go up there.
