im going through shots of me this winter and i realized i fell... a lot. one of which i remember felt horrible and looked even worse. i am lucky i didnt end up with any season ending injuries, actually i even went back up the scaffolding to finish the rail jam and landed the trick i bailed on (switch lip 2 on front swap pretz 2 out):

so NS, show us your best/worst crash you were in this winter? vids or it didnt happen

I didn't really fall too spectacularly this season, but contrary to what most people say skiing falls are way worse than skateboarding falls (with the exception of skating handrails).

didn't have any huge ones, besides edges catching on landings or in other places. I was stopping once, my edges caught and I face planted so hard i got a google - bruise outline. there was this one rail I could never do, and every time i tried it I smacked my hip or ribs. I had a lot of bruises there too

maybe for someone that knows how to skateboard, skateboarding scares me.

but ya i guess i agree. ski features are generally larger than skateboard features

I ragdolled the line on the right

i think this season totalled the most vertical feet of ragdoll/tomahawks for me. none were too bad... got a concussion from landing off a cliff and hooking hard left into a tree. thank god i was wearing a helmet/ back guard

Most painful moment on skis this year, not really a crash was when I under rotated a front flip off of a backflip kicker and landed with my skis like flat but on the slope and then they smacked forward and I smashed my shins into my tight boots super hard. I rode away in pain and fell over on the side of the trail.

I smashed them so hard I immediately yanked off my boots, the ski patrol officer thought I had broken the bone but instead I ended up with just severe bone bruising. The nly way to make it not hurt was to ice them for hours until they were extremely numb. God it hurt. I'm lucky I didn't break them which happened to my friend on a rail last year.

Worst crash of the year was probably Jackson Hole mid February when they got all the storms. Me and my friends were skiing Casper Bowl and I sent this 15 ft cliff but the landing was extremely steep and I tomahawked for 100 yards it was crazy. I luckily did not get that hurt.

I was apparently trying a switch 3 or 5 on a jump, but I caught my edge and knocked myself out to the point of not remembering anything for about 10 minutes before and after I crashed. That wasn't gu

Stevens Pass this winter (jan 27th). At the top of Mill Valley triple chair.... the ski patrol hut at the top....well we saw some people hiking up behind it so we followed suit....come to find out this was out of bounds. Was about to slip through this little trail that I could not see where I would end up. Went through anyway slammed into a wall of snow/ice due to lack of stopping room. Un-clipped fell backwards and just nearly fell of a 25ft cliff... luckily my brother actually caught my ski and I before I rolled over the edge of the bastard. Close call for sure.

2 years ago spring skiing i was carving into a pretty good sized jump and my inside ski sunk into the take off . I ended up spread eagling, with one ski stuck in the jum and one in the air, my momentum pulled the ski out but it caused me to flial and land on my head

I was skiing west bowls at bachelor in a total whiteout and one of my skis got caught up in some gnarly wind crust and ejected. The rest of me did a frontflip and a half and landed 30 feet down the hill and then slid for a while.

A friend of mine went knee to face landing a cliff drop and knocked himself out.

knee to face fucking sucks... just from experience. cant really relate to any backcountry stories #lovingeastcoast #justkidding

haha since the east had low snow levels. my ski went under a tree log and i went over. I luckily ejected. but if i didn't i could of broken my legs really badly.

http://youtu.be/80FUoIxCVSo (if some one could embed that would be sick)

anyways misjudged the speed for the hotel cliff (same as in video posted) at Sun Shine Village and came in with way to much speed over shot my landing and landed dead flat... as a result I broke my sternum in two places, and was out for the rest of the season. Shit was mad weak but at least there was a sexy ski patrol chick in the infirmary dealing with me.

I went up switch for a metal ball-tap, ended up rotating too early, catching my edges and smashing right into the metal ball. Didn't break anything, it just knocked the breath out of me and hurt real bad

Sadly, my worst fall was when I was hitting a down rail in the spring, right after the lifts had opened, and my front ski caught on a sticky part, and I got thrown off and smacked my head really hard on the icy ground. Not much of a fall compared to people talking about ragdolling down rocky lines.

On March 31, I broke my right humerus (big bone in your upper arm) in half right in the middle of the bone. Spiral fracture doing - well trying to do a misty 5. I basically just shoved my arm into the ground as I was still rotating. It felt like my arm exploded.

I followed tracks i tought were skiing tracks(they werent), ended up on a sketchy undroppable cliff, couldnt hike back up cause of the amount of snow. saw a small couloir like 10 feet wide, pretty good just to walk down, but not ski cause of rocks. Clipped off my skis and started decending, there was solid ice on a spot, tripped and slid the thing down on my bum, luckily i somehow grabbed both of my skis with me and didnt leave them up there. Half way trough, my speed was pretty fast and there was a rock coming straight onto me, hit it feet first which sent me tomahawking the rest of the thing down.Im really glad i had my spine protector and protective pants on, the back of my jacket was ripped open from hitting a rock while tomahawking. That feeling when i stopped was pretty unreal, "what, im not hurt at all?", and the next thing was I just propably lost my cousins JJ's..

one of my friends got caught in an avy in bounds at brighton and has video of it. Not really a crash but still a pretty sketchy situation. I could take the time to upload it but its not really worth the time

I was trying a cork 7 of a jump in my backyard and my ski fell off mid air and i landed with my arm on my ski and the edge cut through my coat and down to my muscle and it took 17 stitches to patch up and i couldn't ski for a week. i was pretty pissed.

Well this happened today, not really winter but still hurt like hell. Took a 4x4 straight to my back and blew my mind on how my ski even ended up like that...

I ate shit on a pole jam at brighton this year super bad, I popped a little bit late cause i got cocky caught the front of it rode up the 5 feet of rail on my side went off and fell 8 feet to ice : (

oh and my best would probably be when I hit a 30 footer did a daffy nose grab thing, ended up going to far with the daffy and landed screamin semen, Luckily one ski ejected and i was able to ride it out instead of snapping my ankle.

I seriously did something almost exactly like this...I leaned way to far back on a side booter and landed directly on my back, heard a weird pop and my shoulder/shoulder blade have been kinda fucked ever since. I too hope I don't have aids...

This spring I was at mount snow and it was super slushy and you could get no speed for the kicker on inferno correct me if I'm worng but is a 45 50 ft jump? Anyways got no speed knuckled, double ejection and slid down the landing. Got really bad shing bang, and snow burn on my arms/face cause I had a t shirt and no goggles/face mask

OP's video is the exact reason why i don't want to try switch lip.

beginning/mid season, triple kink in the park, been hitting it all day, slipped out, taco'ed onto my side, thought i broke a rib, was fine the next day.

end of season, last day, park crew sets up flat rail as a spine thingy, try sw butter 5 over it, caught an edge, major concussion, kept on skiing and tried it again like a boss

i was up at killington for the first time ever. my buddy and I were coming off the lift for the first run heading over to the park. it was early in the season and i was really rusty (only like my 3rd time out this season) the run we were on started to drop off and get steep i could an inside edge on the drop off spun around completely then around again so i was switch going down a bumpy black diamond with very dull detuned edges. i picked up speed and ended up going way too fast. didnt end up crashing up holy shit was my heart beating after it happened

Trying blind swap to front swap on the roller coaster box at Breck. Caught my tip on the front swap and fell like 10 feet to flat on my face. Had a minor concussion for sure.

How did you land dead flat on those cliffs? I just don't see how you could get that much speed, and this is coming from someone who has hit those cliffs many, many times, and I've never seen anybody overshoot them.

Well I dont have any videos, but the first day of the season. I did a 4 out and the landing was ice, slid out and broke my coccyx..

Was working on my 5's. It was getting dark and the landings were not lit at all for this jump. Couldn't spot the landing coming around, thought I had a but more time in the air, and at around 450, hit, caught an edge and body slammed the icy landing. Not really bad but worst one I remember this year

i had a spiral fracture in my humerous from a dirtbiking crash (same thing, elbow smashed into the dirt). first time ever breaking a bone. it was sketch trying to rotate my elbow and noticing only my shoulder was moving cause of the break...

Since it was late season, during the summer everyone kept asking if I did it mountain biking but I was reading these forums about recovery and like EVERYBODY on there had spiral fractures from ARM WRESTLING! Fucking retarded.

haha. speaking of recovery, my first doctor gave me a full forearm sling (that supported my elbow) and it made the bone heal unaligned. thank god after they gave me a wrist sling, the weight of my lower arm was able to draw the lower part of my humorous back down into the right place. id lose it if they had to rebreak it...

Went to do a cork seven on like a 10 foot jump and spun way too hard to make up for it. Ended up penciling a cork nine and stayed corked straight to the back of my head. Ended up getting a concussion that crewed up my vision in my left eye for over a month.
